Tis the Season to Sparkle / Thermoweb

Hey, friends, and Happy Weekend!  Today I have a fun & festive holiday layout for Thermoweb to share using some of the Gina K. Designs Fancy Foils and some Simple Stories Oh What Fun goodies.  I wanted to create a page with a wintry feel, so I used colors that reminded me snow and ice.  Although what you don’t see is my daughter not wearing any pants because, in Florida, it’s usually still hot at Christmas…haha!

I began with the cut files I used, which are a block font and the scripty word “sparkle.”  I found this quote on Pinterest and thought it was perfect.  I used some of the Simple Stories papers and one Carta Bella paper to back the letters with.  I knew I wanted to add some “sparkle,” so I used some of the Gina K. Designs Fancy Foils to add some shine to it.  I cut it on white cardstock, and I used the iCraft Deco Foil Adhesive Pen to add glue to it.  This pen is super easy to use and a great way to add foil if you don’t have a laminator.

After you use the pen, let it dry until the glue is tacky.  You simply place the foil on top of it (foil side up) and press over it with your fingers.  When you peel it back, the foil will stick to the glue.  The pen is great because you can easily control how much you want or only in a certain area.  I combined the Gina K. Designs Fancy Foils in Sparkling Silver and Turquoise Sea here.  I glued down just parts of it with the iCraft Mixed Media Adhesive so the ends would curl up off the page and overlap the photo.  I added a few of the Simple Stories stickers around the page and also a few vellum snowflakes.

Here you can really see the beautiful shine from the foiling.  On my background, I mixed some light blue and white acrylic paint and used a palette knife to smudge it down.  I wanted a soft and light color to really make the other colors pop off of it.  The photos really stand out, and the foil shines so nicely against it.

Backing these letters with patterned paper was a quick and easy process.  The fun part is sorting through all the papers and finding the perfect piece to add.  This is a great way to get a lot of color and pattern on a page without it being too busy.  I machine stitched through the letters here with silver metallic thread.

With all the color going on, I wanted to add something to the background without it being overwhelming or distracting.  Vellum to the rescue!  It’s perfect because it’s so light and it just gives a subtle hint of the snowflakes.

Here’s one last close-up of the beautiful foil.  I love how it turned out!

I hope this inspires you to create something fun and shiny for your next project.  Get your hands on the iCraft Deco Foil Adhesive Pen and see how easy it is!  Be sure to check out my process video to see the pen in action!
