Laugh & Love / Hip Kit Club

Hello again, friends!  Today I'm sharing another layout I created for the Hip Kit Club featuring the 2015 December Hip Kits.  I began with the Studio Calico Seven Paper background sheet and added some white gesso to the white half.  I used the Tickle Me Turquoise Shimmerz Paint to create a watercolor effect.  I used one of Nicole's cut files (the big heart) and enlarged it to fit almost the entire page.  I backed the open triangles with lots of patterned papers and 3x4 Project Life cards from the kits.  I was in the mood to do some hand stitching, and so I pulled out some aqua and dark pink floss and did just that.  I also did an outline with my machine in black thread.

I created some layering here, including one of the Heidi Swapp mistable tags.  Again, I used the Shimmerz Paint on it.  I just love the texture from the hand stitching, and plus it makes your page look even more hand made.

I love going through all of the papers and cards and choosing which ones to back the cut file with...you can really get a lot of pattern and color by doing this technique.  I added in some of the Crate Paper chipboard pieces as well.

I used the Magenta Shimmez on this Heidi Swapp die cut word and paired it with one of the gold glitter Thickers.  I love combining alphas and stickers for titles!  And who can resist gold glitter?!

Here's one more close-up of the small cluster on the bottom right.  I used one of the flair buttons with one of the Crate Paper die cuts & chipboard pieces.  My journaling fit right in there.  I finished everything off with some gold and black ink splatters.

Here's my process video if you'd like to check out my process.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a great day!

Christmas Tree Joy / My Mind's Eye

Hey there!  I have another layout for My Mind's Eye to share today.  I used the beautiful Christmas on Market Street collection.  I also used one of my favorite Christmas cut files from The Cut Shoppe.  I enlarged the tree and backed it with the pretty dotted paper.  It reminds me of Christmas lights :)  I used a very subtle cream colored patterned paper as my background, and I coated a lot of it with white gesso.  I used a few different shades of green watercolors to create the watercolor look.  I also added some gold Color Shine.

I just love using watercolors on backgrounds...layering a few different tones really makes it beautiful and it makes it stand out.  I used a few 3x4 Journal Cards as layers behind my photo as well as some tissue paper.  I love using MME brads on my layouts, too, and I paired this one with a few chipboard dots.

I also layered my title using some of the cardstock stickers, foam stickers and a Cameo cut I created.  Gold stitching finished off the tree...I can't resist adding gold thread to Christmas layout!

I added in a few strips of the Decorative Tape under the photo layers and then my journaling under that.

I added more stickers at the top of the page as well as a shiny gold star die cut.  Aaaannnnd more gold thread ;)

I pulled out some of the gold glitter Decorative Tape from the Necessities line to back this open star.  I love how it looks!

I still have so many Christmas photos to scrap...I can't believe it's already over!  It's a good thing we scrappers can scrap whatever we want whenever we want, right? :D

Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a great day!

Love Today / The Cut Shoppe

Hey there, friends!  I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!  I can't believe it's already over.  I have a new layout for The Cut Shoppe to share today using the Bits & Baubles and Say Anything cut files.  I wanted to challenge myself to use one of the Christmas cut files on a non-holiday page.  I chose the candy cane heart, and cut it out multiple times on various patterned papers.

I used the American Crafts Dear Lizzy Daydreamer collection here, and I love how it turned out.  I overlapped and interlocked all the hearts for the background design.  I used white gesso to coat a lot of the background and then used various spray inks to add pink, aqua and yellow to the paper.  I added in some bits and pieces from the Simple Stories Carpe Diem collection as well as some shiny silver puffy heart stickers from Freckled Fawn.

I just love all of these colors together, and the texture from the gesso creates a really great look.  I added in some grey elements as well.

I used a flair button from A Flair For Buttons...I love the white and grey bokeh hearts surrounded by pink thread.  I used dark grey thread for machine stitching.

These cute stamps are from Elle's Studio.  I layered in a bit of torn striped washi tape on all four sides of the photo and added some pink stitching at the top of the picture.

I cut this "LOVE" piece from the Say Anything file.  I used Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Tinsel to make it metallic silver.  I love how it came out!  I used a small piece of patterned paper to back the little heart.

Here's one more close up of all those hearts weaved together.  I love that this cut file can be used for a non-Christmas project.

Here's my process video if you'd like to check it out...hopefully you'll get some inspiration from it!

Let's Be Jolly & Merry / Shimmerz Education Team

Merry Christmas Eve, everyone!  Tomorrow is the big day, so I thought I would share a fun and festive Christmas layout today that I created for the Shimmerz Education Team.  I used lots of delicious Inklingz and Creameez mixed with the My Mind's Eye Christmas on Market Street collection.

I started with white cardstock and an acrylic stamping blog.  I brushed the paints on to the block and used it like a stamp.  I used a variety of red shades first and made sure it was completely dry before I started in with the green shades.  Those two colors wouldn't mix together very well, so letting them dry first is a good idea.  Lastly, I added a few gold colors at the bottom.  I enlarged a Christmas tree cut file from The Cut Shoppe and cut it out on my Cameo and then painted it gold with Inklingz Miner Miner 49er.  I stitched it down with gold thread and built everything on top of and around that.

I love all of these pretty red tones.  I used Inklingz Naughty or Nice and Creameez Strawberry Fields and Trippin' in the Tropics.  I also did some brush splatters.   I added some tissue paper, vellum and patterned paper under the photos, and I also used pop dots to raise the photos up.

Check out this shiny gold....I love it!  This is Inklingz Miner Miner 49er.  I love these metallics mixed in with these pretty red and green colors.  I also mixed in some Creameez Green Acres.

These gorgeous green colors are Inklingz The Holly and the Ivy and Blue Lagoon.  Using the acrylic block makes it really easy to mix a few colors together.  When you stamp it down, they'll blend together really nicely.

More shiny gold elements...chipboard and glitter foam stickers!  I used a small white ampersand here and I traced around it with a gold pen.

Here's my process video if you'd like to see how I put this all together....I hope you enjoy and get some inspiration!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a wonderful Christmas!

So Much Fun / Hip Kit Club

Happy Tuesday, friends!  I have another layout to share today for Hip Kit Club featuring the 2015 December Hip Kits.  I just love these colors...oh my goodness!  I got a little messy with this one and used lots of the Shimmerz Paint on my background.  I used white gesso first to coat the background surface and to fade out some of the black stripes.  I used lots of the patterned papers and some of the 6x6 papers for the layers behind the photos, and then I stitched around it all.

I used one of Kim Watson's cut files to create my title.  I took the "So Much Fun" banner and duplicated it and then welded them together to create a double banner.

This is my favorite part of the whole page...this beautiful wood veneer.  You can see how I did this in my process video.  I used clear embossing powder, Shimmerz and gold Color Shine.  I love the results!

I used some of the Studio Calico tape here and layered in some of the Maggie Holmes die cuts.  I also used some of the SC mistable stars on the banner.

Here's another angle of the banner area.  I love how they stand up and look so dimensional.

I cut this big 6 from one of the 4x6 Project Life cards.  It matches these kits so perfectly!  And so do the cute flair buttons.  I added in some tangled thread for an extra pop of color.

Here's my process video if you'd like to check it out....I hope it inspires you in some way!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day :)

Believe / A Flair For Buttons

Happy Saturday, friends!  It's the weekend, and it's Christmas Break!  Yay!  Three cheers for sleeping in this morning! :D

Today, I'm sharing my latest page for A Flair For Buttons.  I used two flair buttons--one from the Lovely Words 2 set and one from the Just Hearts 2 set.   They aren't from actual Christmas or holiday sets, but I think they go perfectly with my Christmas-themed layout.  I used some older Crate Paper stash for this and did some mixing and matching.  The pink background came from a really old stack of CP that I found at Michael's a few years ago.  The tags and pieces behind the photo are from the Bundled Up line from 2013.  I used one of the green patterned papers and a cut file from The Cut Shoppe for that cute tree in the background and then drew and hand stitched the other trees.   The big Dec.25 cut file is also from The Cut Shoppe.

I've been waiting for the perfect page to use this Believe flair button, and this was it!  I love how it serves as part of the title.  I added some turquoise thread for it to sit into and then added some Crate Paper stickers and a brad beside it.

You can't go wrong with a red heart, especially on a Christmas page.  I cut this Dec.25 on a piece of white cardstock that I had actually already done some mixed media on and then didn't use it.  I just ran it through my Cameo and it cut really well, even with gelatos on it.  I love how it looked, so I used it.  I added a few chipboard pieces and a gold glitter heard sticker here and then some gold thread.  I also used some thick gold thread to hand stitch this background tree.

I must say, I never thought I'd love pink on a Christmas page, but I really do.  And I love the mix of aqua and turquoise.  These old tags made great layers, and I just (very messily) punched holes in the top and added some cord.

I added some tissue paper here, and this cute arrow clip is from Freckled Fawn.  And I absolutely LOVE how the gold Color Shine looks on this pink paper!  Gorgeous!

I decided to add these October Afernoon alphas at the bottom and play off the Believe flair button.  I love how the gold stitching looks!

I totally forgot to say that I used some turquoise acrylic paint for my background mixed media work.  I watered it down a bit and used the packaging technique.  I also splattered some using a paint brush.  I used some pink gelatos and my water brush to add the pink shadowing around the whole design.

Here are the flair sets I used.....Just Hearts 2--

And Lovely Words 2--

Make sure you check out the A Flair For Buttons shop....there are TONS to choose from and there are some for every single style out there!  And Shelley is amazing....so go look! :D

Have a great day!

Shine / Hip Kit Club

Hey, friends!  Today I'm sharing my first layout for Hip Kit Club using the unbelievably beautiful 2015 December Hip Kits!  These colors...swoon!  They are right up my alley.  I couldn't resist using the gorgeous Maggie Holmes Shine overlay for this layout.  I attached it to white cardstock and then decided to get crazy :D

I added white gesso to the transparency, which is something I've never tried.  It dried, and then I added in some of the Shimmerz Paints from the Color Kit.  They dried and looked great on the overlay!  I was pleasantly surprised at how well the overlay took the mediums.  I also stitched through it without any problems.

Now for the close-ups :)  I used a few of the 3x4 and 4x6 Project Life cards to layer behind my photo.  I added a strip of the blue American Crafts glitter tape for an extra pop of shine, and then I added in this big LOVE acetate piece at the bottom.  The gold stitching finished everything off.

I used a few pieces of paper from the Shine 6x6 Paper Pad for more layers here, and then pulled in a few chipboard pieces.  That diamond seemed like the perfect piece to add in, and then this "shine" die cut from Heidi Swapp worked for my title.  I used the Golden Wheat Shimmerz to color it.

Here you can see the paint on the overlay.  I also added some Color Shine, and it dried wonderfully.  Aren't these colors so yummy?!  Yes!

Here's the left side of the photo.  I added in more of the Maggie Holmes Thickers, a wood veneer coated with Shimmerz, some tangled thread, some chipboard and a die cut.

Here's one more close-up of the layers and background.

Here's a look at my process video if you'd like to see how I put this all together.  I hope it inspires you in some way!

Make sure you check out the GORGEOUS 2016 January Kits!  They are AMAZING!
