Look >> Summer (I wish!)

Oh, how I do wish summer was here already!  Although most of you probably think Florida's "winter" is equivalent to your summer...haha!  I'm ready for swimming, sun and kicking back.  This layout today showcases how we spend our lazy summer days...splashing around in the pool :)

This is my final January layout featuring the January Creative Kit from My Creative Scrapbook.  I couldn't let it run out without scrapping some pool pictures!  These bright colors just scream summer, and I knew the pretty blues from pool photos would contrast nicely with these papers.

I used white cardstock as my background and just added some watercolor to it.  I didn't want it too busy; I wanted the layers & patterned papers to pop.  I love how the Daily Grind collection focuses on all the days of the week, and this tabbed paper was so fun to play with!

This rainbow film strip color wheel was my favorite piece on the chipboard sheet...I'm such a sucker for rainbows :)   These fun wooden veneer pieces are fun to play with, too.

Just a close-up of the layers and thread.  I love to ink up the edges and curl them up so they look a little worn.

Love this woodgrain chipboard camera!  I layered this wooden word bubble on top of it for some dimension.

Stay tuned for the February kits coming soon...they are ALL so beautiful!

Thanks for visiting me today...have a good one!

Spunky Little Monkey

Hey there, friends!  I have been thinking about all of my scrappy friends caught up in this horrible weather situation...I hope all of you are home safe and sound today!  I realize that I take our mild Florida weather for granted a lot of the time.  My thoughts and prayers are with all of you!

Despite the freezing cold temperatures, here's a page to help warm things up a bit.  I based this layout on the current sketch #65 on the My Scraps and More Sketch blog.  Stay tuned for the new Design Team to be announced soon!  They'll start designing with our sketches in February.

Here's the sketch by the awesome Wendi Robinson:

I decided to use my sunburst stencil again to create a fun and colorful background.  I used yellow spray and the turned the stencil and used a blue color.  Love how it turned out!  I added some washi tape strips to add a bit more interest in the rays.  I also stamped a bit to accentuate them.  I layered a lot of my leftover Jillibean Soup papers here, along with lots of the cardstock stickers.

I have been added tangles of thread to everything lately...I just love the way it looks.  And, as usual, I cut my title on my Cameo in white cardstock and then painted it orange and pink.

I added in some random leftover vellum pieces, too.  Here you can see how everything is layered together.

Color, color, color!  Love it so much...the bright and bold colors here are my favorite!

I added in a few buttons here and there.  This one is peeking out from the paper layers.

It doesn't bother me when the washi tape curls up at the end...I think it just adds to the fun and whimsy look.

I hope you hop on over to the sketch blog and check out all the sketches...we have a new one up every Friday!

Thanks for looking today, and Happy Hump Day :)

My Mind's Eye Decorative Tape Madness

Hey there, friends!  I'm SO excited to share my latest My Mind's Eye project with you!  I'm up on the blog today :)  I was asked to create something featuring all the decorative tapes from MME, and I wanted to do something other than a layout.  I went canvas crazy!  I decided to create something for my scrap room, and you know I love bold & bright colors.  So I pulled out every roll of MME tape in my stash and chose the brightest ones.

This was SO much fun!  I love getting messy these days.  In addition to the tons of tape on this, I also used lots of Dylusions inks, which are SUPER bright.  I used a few different templates.  There's modeling paste and gesso in the mix, and also some very pretty gold glitter paint.  I threw in some MME chipboard and paper stickers, some brads, some enamel shapes & dots, some stamps and some thread.  I cut my Create title on my Cameo.  I loved doing this because it's just so random and abstract... you really can't mess up a project like this because you just keep adding layers of things.

This adorable camera sticker is from the Chalk Studio collection. I painted it blue and added some thread behind it. I love how the black pieces from Chalk Studio really stand out against all the bright colors.

You can see several pieces of the tape here, too. I like to tear off a long strip of tape and then tear it in half to give it an uneven look.

Here are lots more tape strips. I also used some old book paper to give the look of text through all the color and texture. I love how this Happy Day chipboard piece pops!

The birds are also from Chalk Studio. I chose to leave them white so they’d stand out. You can see some of the stamping here, too.

I just LOVE the glasses tape! I wear glasses half the time, so I wanted to include them on my project. The days of the week tape is another big favorite of mine from the Collectable line.

I hope this inspires you to pull out everything in your craft room that allows you to make a mess (haha) and throw it all down on a canvas!  Pull out those tapes.  Tear them, layer them, paint on them, stamp on them...they're versatile and so much fun.

Thanks for stopping in today...enjoy your Monday!

Crazy About Books

Hey there, friends!  I hope your weekend is off to a fun start.  Today I'm sharing a layout I created for Wednesday's Word Up Challenge at My Scraps and More.  The word was "crazy," and even though my photos are pretty tame, they show how my little Reesie is crazy about books.  I used some Jillibean Soup products on this project.

I added some modeling paste to the back.  I colored it first by adding some yellow acrylic paint to it.  I also added in a few touches of blue watercolor here and there.  The rest is layers, stickers and labels.

I outlined my title with a white pen to make it pop against the background.  I layered the letters stickers for the word "books."

I just love pop dots!  They can make the average sticker just jump right off the page.

Paste and thread...both have amazing texture.  I also threw in a piece of torn vellum.

Layering stickers is also fun...just make things more interesting :)

If you aren't a member of our forum, we sure hope you join us!  We have fun challenges going on all the time and prizes up for grabs.  You can go HERE to check things out.

Sweeter Everyday / My Creative Scrapbook

Hey there, friends :)  I know that if it's 37 degrees here in Florida, then it must be absolutely freezing where you are!  I don't envy you at all.  This is about as cold as we can stand it!  At least it's going to warm up into the mid-60s later...thank goodness!

Here's another page I created using the January Creative Kit from My Creative Scrapbook.  This one uses no patterned papers at all.  Just embellishments from the Simple Stories Daily Grind collection and a few Prima flowers.  It was a simple layout to put together...just some modeling paste hearts in the background (very light), some light blue watercolor, some stamps and little bits and pieces.

I love these days of the week tabs.  I decided to use them all on one layout, and since they made a rainbow, that was even better :)

Here you can see the modeling paste a bit better.  I'm not a big Prima user, but these flowers just seemed perfect for this layout.

I combined the Simple Stories letter stickers with a title cut from my Cameo.  I love mixing fonts :)

One more angle of the hearts, stamps and paint.

If you'd like to check out the kits available, you can go right HERE.  Lots of fun and beautiful things to choose from!

Thanks for checking in today, and have a good one!

An {Adorable} Layout

Hey there, scrappy friends :)  I hope you're having a wonderful Tuesday so far.  Today I'm sharing a page I created using Sketch #63 over on My Scraps & More's Sketch Blog.  I kind of started with the sketch, but then it just grew and sort of took on a life all its own...haha.  But you can still see the sketch in there :)

I used some of my Jillibean Soup stash...I just love these fun colors together, and they matched Paige's little yellow summer dress perfectly.

I really wanted to incorporate these fun numbers into the design.  I raised up the 2, since that's how old she is in the photos.  I added some cord around it to make it stand out even more.

Washi tape...how did I ever scrap without it for so long?  And I remember saying, "I'll never buy that washi tape stuff...I don't need another addiction."  Well, I sure didn't listen to myself, and I'm SOOOO glad I didn't!  I LOVE washi tape!

A little bit of yellow thread adds a fun pop of color at the top behind the papers and this fun sticker.

Here's the sketch...

Make sure you check out the Sketch Blog...there's a new one up each Friday.  And don't forget to check out the store...new Elle's Studio and Echo Park shipping this week!  Yesssssss!!!

Creative Scrappers #260

It's Creative Scrappers Reveal Day!  Woo hoo!  Today marks Sketch #260, and it sure is a fun one :)  Check out the cool triangles in this one:

I decided to challenge myself and use a difficult to scrap photo.  The reason I think it's hard to scrap is the color...that green isn't easy for me.  It was St. Patty's Day, so naturally I had to dress my little goosie in green :)  Out of all my paper collections, NONE of them coordinated with this dress.  So I got creative and mixed and match random papers together.  I tried to go with all the colors in the dress and make sort of a rainbow page.

I just used a ruler to draw some triangles and then used watercolors to paint them.  Then I went over them in black pen.  I have a really cool triangle stamp set that I pulled out for this...I love how it turned out!

I had a random set of buttons, too, that just happened to match my colors.  I had to make them work somewhere.  This area needed some pink, so I added some pink floss.  Quick and easy!  Another fun thing I'm into lately is tearing my washi tape.  I like the way it just peeks out from behind paper and gives a little color pop.

I decided to leave the floss "as is" here and just wind it up and layer it underneath the paper.

It seems like forever since I printed off my journaling on the computer!  I love the look of journaling strips.  I've just been on a roll lately of writing directly on my paper.  Sometimes you just have to shake things up :)

I sure hope you play along with us!  Be sure to check out the rest of the team's layouts HERE.  Lots of inspiration to pull from :)

Don't forget who the sponsor is this month!  A kit club I'm very familiar with :)

So You / My Creative Scrapbook

It's Friday...yay!  And it's a Teacher Work Day, so the kids are home today.  I'm glad because it's another cold day out there.  I'm glad we can stay warm inside...and it's ironic that I'm sitting here drinking a frozen fruit/banana/spinach smoothie for breakfast.  It's making me colder!  I wish I liked coffee....

I'm sharing another page I created using the January Creative Kit from My Creative Scrapbook today. The Daily Grind collection from Simple Stories is just so fun!  I also put together a small and simple tutorial on how to give some color to those cute little wooden word bubbles from Studio Calico.

I love this arrow background paper!  I pulled out my watercolors and added some coordinating colors behind my photo cluster in the center.  Watercolors are SO easy and fun to use...and they're fast.

I backed this TODAY sticker with some black paper to make it pop, and I raised it up using pop dots.

Layers and stickers...I really love that Simple Stories always includes a ton of cute little word phrase stickers.  I cut the camera circle piece from patterned paper and pop dotted it up.

I cut my title on my Cameo using white cardstock and then painted it with blue watercolor.  I also added some red floss/thread...another great and easy (and cheap) way to add a pop of color!  And it's a cool shape, too :)

Check out the simple tutorial below on various ways to color these wooden pieces.

This is really easy...just a quick step-by-step way to add different colors to your embellishments...

All of the kits at My Creative Scrapbook are located HERE...go check them all out and see for yourself how great they all are :)

Thanks so much for stopping by today, and Happy Friday!

A fun and HAPPY layout :)

Happy Wednesday!  I hope you're doing well today.  I'm so excited to share this layout with you...it's one of my favorites so far!  I created it last week for a Saturday Steal Challenge over at My Scraps and More.  I lifted a page from the super talented Wendi Robinson, who is also a fellow DT member.  She used a big sunburst on her page, so I was immediately drawn to it.  I pulled out my sunburst stencil and watercolors and went to work.

All of my papers and most of my embellishments are from the Bella Blvd Snapshots and Daily Chevies collections.  I'm not a huge Bella scrapper, but these lines were just too cute to pass up!

This camera stamp is one of my new favorite items.  It's from a little set I picked up at Michael's a few weeks ago.  It's Recollections, and I have to say that every stamp I've ever bought from that brand is awesome.  They stamp so clearly and perfectly every time....no sticking and no unevenness.  And some pink floss to throw in a little bit more color in that area.  That is such a great and easy way to add a color splash!  And it's fun to just tangle up some thread and glue it down!  You can't mess it up.

A template, some modeling paste, some watercolors, a black pen to outline and some stamps...the greatest way to create texture, add interest, and make a mess all at the same time :)  FUN!

Paper layers are my favorite.  I love these arrow stickers, and I used a few pop dots to raise it up.  I also added a few more stamps here and there.  This little triangle/arrow stamp is from the Glitz Wild & Free collection.  I love it and have been using it a lot.

You should come check out our boards if you haven't....lots of fun challenges going on and monthly prizes are given away.  Our store's new owner, Audrey Yeager, is busy getting all the inventory set up for all of us!  She is setting up shop up in New York, and everything should be ready to go February 1st.  I know she'll have sooooo many of the new CHA lines when they become available, so be sure to keep checking in HERE for updates!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!
