Challenge Me Happy #22

Happy Monday, fellow scrappers! It's time to share the latest challenge from Challenge Me Happy. This one is a color palette. This one intimidated me at first because I usually don't use a lot of red & black together. I usually pull my color scheme from my photos, and if there is red, I'll use it, but it's usually with other bright colors. Adding in just black & white with the red was challenging. I must say, though, I love the outcome! Here is the color palette:

And here is what I created. I started with white cardstock and used some butterfly chipboard pieces as masks. I went through my random single sheets of patterned paper and found a few with the required colors to use. The black with white polka dots is actually the back packaging from a Prima "Say it with Crystals" bling set I bought a few years ago. I knew it would be usable one day :)

My Little Shoebox is once again our fabulous sponsor...you don't want to miss out on a chance to win some amazing prizes!!

Thank you so much for stopping by! I truly appreciate your visit. I will be back tomorrow with my first layout for Artful Delight and the latest Workout at ScrapFIT!

My Scraps & More Color Challenge

Happy Saturday!  I hope you are enjoying your weekend so far.  I have no plans this weekend, and I love it that way...that way I can scrap at my convenience :)  I have a layout to share today that I created for the latest color challenge at My Scraps & More.

Here is the color palette:

Here is what I made...a big ol' mess!  I started with a black background and went for the paint and started smudging, smearing and dragging.  It's so weird how I can make one layout totally messy like this one, and then my next one will be all nice & neat.  I think I'm a bi-polar scrapper!  Is that possible?  Haha :)

This picture of my daughter was from a random Saturday afternoon.  She had on whatever clothes were clean that day...and obviously they didn't match at all.  We were just hanging around at the house, so who cares, right?  Well, the colors went perfectly with this color scheme, so I used it :)

That's it for today. Thank you so much for stopping by...enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Sketchabilities #69 & Diana's Blogiversary :)

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  I have been so busy with DT layouts lately that I haven't had a chance to post anything.  I have two layouts to share today...one is a "just for fun" page, and my second one is for the Blog Hop over at Designs By Diana.  Last week, I was able to squeeze in this "for fun" layout.  I used the latest sketch at Sketchabilities.  They always have such fun layouts!

Here is what I created...lots of messy paint drippings in the background and totally random papers from my stacks of really old stuff.  I've had that chipboard "smile" piece for forever!  I think I bought a few years ago from Michael's on clearance.  I finally found the right layout to use it on!

This is the sketch:

Here is what I created for Diana Fisher's Blogiversary Hop!  I loved visiting each person's blog...such amazing talent.  As always, Diana's sketch was awesome!  I knew right away I wanted to jump on it and play along.  Here is what I made...I used some new Pebbles papers...so bright and summery!

Here is Diana's fun sketch:
Thanks for visiting my blog! I need to get back to scrappin'....I have a lot coming up! Have a great day :)

Quote Challenge at My Scraps & More

Good morning! Hope you are all finding some scrappy time today. I wanted to share with you a layout I created for the latest challenge at My Scraps & More. There are daily challenges there, so you always have inspiration. Yesterday was my turn to host the Quote Challenge, so here is what I created....

I used the quote "Children make you want to start life over" by Muhammad Ali. I immediately loved it and wanted to use it! I created this using the Neapolitan line from Amercian Crafts...such delicious papers!

I used this awesome Jana Eubank sketch for inspiration:

If you're looking for a fantastic community of scrappy women, scrappy materials, and scrappy inspiration, then you MUST check out My Scraps & More!! It's amazing :)

My First Reveal at My Scraps & More!

I'm so excited to share my first DT projects for My Scraps & More! I was sent the Bo Bunny Alora collection, and let me tell you -- if you love bright & vibrant colors like I do, then you must get your hands on these. They are so bright, and the colors just pop right off the page. You really should visit the My Scraps & More shop...Tammi always has a sale going on and her prices just can't be topped!

Here is what I created with these fabulous papers:

The gorgeous flower & bird patterns on these papers make it easy to just add your photos. A lot of the papers were really busy, so I broke them up by using some less busy papers or a contrasting color. So many of the designs on the papers are so pretty that I didn't want to cover them up! So I ripped and tore and cut so I could include everything I wanted.

I added a little ribbon banner at the bottom of this one. I just can't get enough of banners nowadays :)

I'm not much of a card maker, but I like how this one turned out. I just love distressing the papers' edges. I just think it takes a sheet of paper to a whole new level and makes it look so much more interesting! I used a loopy border stamp and the bottom & top and then used my scallop punch for making the borders. I added a ribbon strip along the bottom and after adding a few distorted circles cut from patterned paper, it was done :)

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a great Monday :)

ScrapFIT # 66 & Challenge Me Happy #21 Reveals!

***If you are here for the My Scraps & More Birthday Blog Hop, click HERE***

Good morning, fellow scrappers :) Today is the 15th, which means lots of new scrappy inspiration coming your way. I have two challenges to share with you today!

First up is Workout #66 at ScrapFIT. I'm so excited about this one because it's a color palette challenge. Our amazing Creative Trainer Diana has created this beautiful color scheme for you. Use it as your inspiration!

Here is what I came up with. I find that when working with specific color schemes, most times I don't have the "perfect" papers to go with it. So I grab a white sheet of cardstock and start misting or painting to make my own "matching paper." Once I had my beige, green & red start on my background, I went on a stash search to find patterned papers that were cherry and mint. As you can see, I found random sheets...some old Basic Grey, some Bazzill cardstock and some pieces from a scrap piece that didn't even have the brand strip at the bottom anymore! I was able to use up some old stash for this one.

The prize for this workout is once again sponsored by My Divine Inspiration Etsy Shop. Check out this adorable set of handmade embellishments you can win!

If you'd like to see what the other team members created with this pretty color scheme, head on over to the blog! We can't wait to see what you create :)

Next up, I want to share with you my latest layout for Challenge #21 at Challenge Me Happy. The challenge is to use this beautiful photo as your inspiration:

You know me...I just LOVE bright and bold colors! This one was right up my alley. I used the bright colors (of course) and also tied in some of the square shapes of the pillows. I used some papers from a big stack of Me & My Big Ideas papers...and old stack from a few years back. I just love going through my old papers and finding just the right ones :)

I was also inspired by this awesome sketch by Liz at The Scrappiest:

My Little Shoebox is once again sponsoring us this month, so you don't want to miss out on the chance from some of their awesome goodies!

Be sure to go check out what the other team members created!

That's it for today...hope you enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

My Scraps & More Stash Challenge

If you haven't joined the forum at My Scraps & More, you simply must! I have never seen such scrappy inspiration...there is a challenge every day, plus there is a birthday blog celebration coming up this weekend. The online store has the best prices I've seen around, and there is almost always a sale going on. You can't beat a scrappy sale :)

Anyway, my first challenge as a DT member was a stash challenge. I created this messy page with watercolors, and then I just randomly picked out a few pieces of old (and I mean REALLY old) patterned papers. I think one of them was a random Sandylion page I got from JoAnn's ages ago! The challenge is to use distressing and punching with your older than dirt papers :) As you can see, I didn't even use much paper. It was literally a few scrap pieces...just enough to make a few strips and a few lollipop flowers.

If you need some awesome scrappy inspiration, visit the MS&M blog. There are not only stash challenges, but sketches, lifts, recipes, cards...everything under the sun!

Have a GREAT day!

Final Paper Thrills Reveal

Hi, everyone! I'm sharing my final layout for the Paper Thrills DT this morning. Sadly, the blog will no longer be hosting challenges. Like many other scrappy challenge blogs, life is just getting too busy for Jill, the owner, and scrapping is having to take a back seat. So until further notice, this is the final challenge.

Challenge #53 is a photo-inspired by this vintage Vogue cover:

I liked the black, purple & red color scheme, and I wanted to add some butterflies to complete the Spring feel. I wanted to scrap these photos of Paige yawning during a Wal-Mart trip and passing out right after...haha. That place wears me out, too :)

I raided my stash and grabbed whatever papers matched the cute butterfly paper. I grabbed it a few weeks ago at Michael's when they were having their 4 for $1 sale. I used a loopy-loop border stamp to add a little pattern to the purple sheet, and then used my circle mask to add some color to my white cardstock. I usually wouldn't use this color scheme, but that is the beauty of challenges--to push you out of your norm. I love how it turned out!

Thank you for visiting my blog! Have a great day :)

ScrapFIT #65 & Challenge Me Happy #20

Good Sunday morning, everyone! I just realized I hadn't posted anything in over a week. I have been busy, busy, busy this past week, and although I have been creating, most of it has been DT work that can't be shown yet. Today is April 1st, so that means I have two reveals to share with you today!

First up is Workout #65 at ScrapFIT. This one is a photo-inspired challenge, and let me tell you, it's a tough one! When I first saw it, I didn't know where to start. I decided to scrap an old photo of me and my husband from 18 years ago. We started dating in 1994...I was just 18. I pulled out the Echo Park For the Record Line, and it was perfect for this challenge.

Here is the inspiration photo:

And here is what I created:

The prize for this challenge is this beautiful set of handmade goodies from My Divine Inspiration Etsy Shop. Aren't they so pretty?!

You have until April 30th to play along with us. Now you must go check out the ScrapFIT blog and see how the other DT members interpreted this cool picture!

My second reveal for today is the latest challenge from Challenge Me Happy. It's #20, and it's super easy. It's an Anything Goes challenge, which means just what it says. Upload anything for a chance to win a fabulous package of goodies from My Little Shoebox!

I created this layout using Echo Park's This and That line. I'm in love with these juicy colors!

I based my layout design on a beautiful layout created by the super-talented Melissa Pablo. I love her work, and I really wanted to scraplift one of her layouts. I contacted her and asked if she minded, and she happily said yes! I know we all scraplift and get ideas from others, but if you're going to pretty much copy another's work, I think it's only right to run it by that person first. So I did, and now I can share it with you. You really must check out Melissa's blog and see her amazing work...she's awesome!

Here is her original layout I based mine on:

One more tidbit of good news...I won Honorable Mention in Challenge #33 at My Mind's Eye last week! I couldn't believe it. There were SO many amazing entries. I'm so ecstatic and thankful for being recognized!!

Thanks for stopping by...have a wonderful first week of April!
