Simple Cards (My Creative Scrapbook)

***** Go HERE for the My Scraps "Switchin' It Up in September" BLOG HOP! *****

Happy Saturday, scrappy friends!  I can't believe it's the last day of August...seriously?!  I'm busy getting ready for my little Reese's 7th Birthday party today, but I wanted to hop on and share my final projects using the August Main Kit from My Creative Scrapbook.  I made these two simple cards with the scraps I had left.  I'm not much of a card maker...so these are pretty easy to create.

I used some of the big Echo Park chipboard flowers on this one, as well as one of the Artisan butterflies from Pink Paislee.  I misted him blue :)

This one was very easy to make...I cut out one of the small cards from a patterned paper sheet as well as those little ornament shapes.  That's what they remind me of, anyway!  I traced over most of the pieces with my black pen and then added a button & a few butterflies.

I know you'll love what's coming in the September kits...they will be revealed later next week.  Until then, I hope you enjoy your weekend!

Thanks for taking a peek today :)

True Words - My Scraps Sketch #43

Hey, friends!  Hope you're doing well on this beautiful sunny Wednesday :)  I have a page to share today that I designed for Sketch #43 over on the My Scraps Sketch Blog.  I loved working with the grid design on this one.  I shrunk the grid down and moved it off center.  I really love how this page turned out...for once my masking and modeling paste vision turned out exactly like I wanted it to!  This time, I sprayed some color shine mist over the paste and mask while it was still wet and let it dry over night.  I love the ombre effect it created!

I used up the last bits and pieces of the Hopscotch collection from Fancy Pants.  I added in random washi tapes, stamps, buttons, a flower and some die-cut butterflies I had left over from another project.

I added in some of my very old dew drops, too.  I'm soooo loving modeling paste and texture it gives!

A nice close-up of several elements here.

I love how the stamping looks on top of the dried paste.

One of the cute painted butterflies :)

You can go HERE to join in on the sketch blog...prize winners are drawn each month!  And we have a fun blog hop coming this weekend...stay tuned for that!

Have a great day, and thanks for stopping by!

Say Cheese!

Hello there!  Another Monday has arrived...that sure didn't take long.  I have a fun page to share today...I think it's one of my favorites so far.  I created it for My Scraps and More, and I used the Memories Captured collection from Fancy Pants.  Isn't it gorgeous?  The colors are AMAZING!  And I love all the coordinating embellishments...the cameras, the foam stars, the flair badges...oh my!

I added some modeling paste to my background...I love that it dried almost clear in several places...just subtle circles here and there.

Aaaahhhh....I love my Cameo!  I cut the "Cheese" using it...haha!  Did I just say, "cut the cheese?"  Yes...I had to do it....haha!  :D

Layers and distressing...love it!

Another Cameo cut...and a layered cluster of this little camera, some border stickers and the cute foam star.

Didn't those circles turn out so cute?  Love that look.

I'm so happy you stopped by today.  Stay tuned over at My Scraps...we have something fun planned for this weekend!  You don't want to miss it.

Have a GREAT day!

Time With Aunt Jamie (My Creative Scrapbook)

Hey there, friends!  I've never been happier to see a Saturday in a long time!  We've completed our first week back to school, and getting readjusted to that schedule has taken its toll on all of us.  It felt great to sleep in a little this morning...aaahhhhh.

This is the fourth page I created using the August Main Kit from My Creative Scrapbook.  It's full of Echo Park's Beautiful Life.  I really love the color combo in this.  I'm not a huge user of red, but I love the way it coordinates with the navy, yellow and teal.  I love when an unexpected pairing of colors winds up looking beautiful :)

I'm not a big user of Prima, either...but I really love these funky patterned flowers!  And they match perfectly with these papers.

Check out this super cute chipboard fence...I painted it blue.  Love how it turned out!  And oops on the glue showing...

The sticker sheet has a lot of triangle and banner shapes...I think I used the majority of them on this page.

There is also an entire page of these cute little tickets...lots of different colors and designs.

I hope you'll check out all the August kits...there is a lot to choose from, and they're all just gorgeous.  I have a few more cards to share that I made using this kit...stay tuned for those later.

I hope you have a fabulous day!  Thanks for visiting me :)

Oh Happy Day :)

Happy Hump Day!   I have another Fancy Pants page today...I started working with this collection and just had to make another page with it!  The colors in my photos were perfect for this line...a perfect match.  I LOVE the corrugated paper in this line...so much fun to work with.  This page is based on Sketch #41 at My Scraps and More.  You can see the sketch HERE.  You can also play along with us to win a prize from Bella Blvd :)

I used to shy away from busy backgrounds, but once I discovered gesso, that changed.  It's a great (and easy) way to mute out some of the design so it's separated from your focal point.  Plus, it adds dimension and interest.  I just smudge it around with my finger.  I love how this page came together...this collection made it easy! I added in some blue paint, some stamps and a few pieces of washi tape.

Love the cute buttons and the cork arrows!  I inked them black.

More dimension...love the little banner piece in the ephemera pack!

I hope you play along with our sketches...a new one goes up every Friday!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Inside Her Mind

Happy Monday (and happy first day of school!)...I hope you are all doing well.  Today is crazy busy, but I wanted to jump on and share a page that I created for My Scraps and More.  I used the new What a Wonderful Day collection from Fancy Pants...oh, how I just love it!  I used modeling paste, stencils, spray ink, and stamps to create my background...no rhyme or reason....just getting it all down and then placing my papers and photos over it.

Lots of stamping with black, blue and red inks.  LOVE the detail that stamps give to a layout.

Here you can see the modeling paste...a great way to add texture.  And those cork hearts are lots of fun!

Lots of layers here...and check out the cute little banner!

Another close up...love this button.

That's it for today...I hope you have a great one!  Thanks so much for stopping by :)

You & Me (My Creative Scrapbook)

Hey there, friends!  I'm so happy it's Saturday...I need some scrappy time!  Today I'm sharing another page (and a quick tutorial) I created using the August Main Kit from My Creative Scrapbook.  Yep, it's more of the Beautiful Life collection from Echo Park.  I really like the navy blue thrown in with all the pinks, reds and yellows...such a nice contrast.

I decided to use lots of various patterned paper strips for this page, and I got a lot of use out of those little bar code strips at the bottom of each page.  I've been seeing a lot of confetti creations lately, and I wanted to give it a try.  So I created this butterfly...my super easy tutorial is at the end of my post.  This page was pretty easy...I smudged some paint around, and I also painted the white lace included in the kit.

No layout is perfect...you can totally see my dried glue here...oh, well, right?  :)

Here's a close-up of my butterfly...I think I like him.  I also punched holes with a thumb tack to create a subtle trail.

I painted the edges of this little butterfly and outlined the ones on the paper strip.

Here's a mini-tutorial of my butterfly...not hard at all.

Be sure to check out all the available kits from My Creative Scrapbook...so much to choose from :)  Thanks so much for stopping by today!

A My Scraps page - My Sweethearts

Hey, friends!  It's Thursday already...time for school orientation later today.  Lots of things to get to, but first I wanted to share a page I created for one of the daily {word} challenges over on our message boards at My Scraps and More.  The word was SWEETHEARTS or SWEET or HEART/S.  I wanted to scrap these pictures of my girls wearing their Valentine shirts from a few years ago, so I pulled the Fourteen collection from Crate Paper.  I just love the blues mixed in with the pinks and reds.

I used some gesso around the edges of my center cluster to soften those sharp chevrons.  The rest is just distressed and inked layers with some washi tape thrown in.  I added some heart stamps here and there, and a few buttons.  I can't get enough of Crate Paper...I just love everything they ever come out with!

This is the only close-up of this page...my camera card filled up after I took this one, and I was too lazy to empty it and go back and take more photos...haha.  But here you can see the chipboard layers in my corner cluster as well as some of the stamping.

Come join us on our boards!  There is a big prize giveaway happening, so come check it out!

Have a great day, and as always, thank you so much for stopping by!

Feeling Froggy!

Hey there, scrappy friends!  Well, we're on the countdown to the first day of school...we start next Monday.  I'm feeling the pressure to get everything ready...I'm almost finished buying school supplies, but I already feel behind. I hope the new school year transition goes smoothly!  Only a few more days of sleeping in....(((sigh))).

Here's a page I created using Sketch #39 at My Scraps and More.  I wanted to pull from the pinks and greens in Paige's froggy pajamas for this one.  I dug into three different Crate Paper lines and found the perfect papers.  I used papers from Fourteen, On Trend and Little Bo Peep.  Isn't that little frog so cute?  I cut him on my Cameo and painted him to match.  The burlap hearts are Little Yellow Bicycle...I found them at Michael's on clearance a few weeks ago.  Score!  They were $1.49 for a pack!

Lots of layers going on here...and I love the texture of the modeling paste.

I love this chipboard frame...it adds to the dimension of all the layers.

You can check out the My Scraps Sketch Blog HERE...lots of fun sketches every Friday, and lots of prizes to win!  We'd also love to have you join us on our boards HERE...lots of different challenges going on everyday there, too!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

All About Being Beautiful (My Creative Scrapbook)

Happy Monday, friends!  Today I'm sharing two of the four cards I created for My Creative Scrapbook this month using August's Main Kit.  It's overflowing with Echo Park's Beautiful Life collection.  There is also a chipboard pack from the For the Record line, which is what I used as my centerpiece for this card.

I really loved the orange color, and I decided to throw in a rainbow mix of other colors with it.  I used a mask and some color shine to create the background.  I fussy cut the scalloped circle from a piece of patterned paper and coated with blue paint.  The little butterflies and green chipboard button were the perfect touches.  Simple and sweet without a lot of busy-ness.

I used a red cardstock as my card base here and then added one of the pre-made cards on one of the patterned papers in the kit.  Echo Park makes it easy for us scrappers...just cut it out and it's done!  I added in some butterfly stickers from the sticker sheet, a chipboard button and that's it!  Short and sweet ;)

I still have more to share from this kit, so stay tuned throughout the next few weeks.  Hop on over to the My Creative Scrapbook blog HERE and check out today's tutorial.  Then go HERE to see our DT gallery....and then go HERE to grab your own kit!  I promise you won't be disappointed.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and have a great Monday!

She's Comfy (My Creative Scrapbook)

Three cheers for Friday!  Woo hoo!  I hope you are all doing well today.  I'm sharing another page I created using the August Main Kit from My Creative Scrapbook.  It's such a girly and feminine collection from Echo Park, and I wanted that to show through on this page.  Even though my daughters aren't the frilly princess type, I still like to make things girly sometimes :)

I used a butterfly mask and some modeling paste on my background.  They turned out kind of lumpy and smudged, but I like it that way.  I went over them with some paint and then added the same shades of blue in other areas.  I fussy cut the scalloped circles, the flower clusters and the yellow butterfly.

A close-up of the pretty Prima flower...I smushed it around some.

I used one of the chipboard buttons here.  These arrows are fun for adding in a little extra, too.

Here you can see the beauty that is modeling paste imperfection!  This is why it's so great for texture.

You can get your hands on this kit by going HERE......and there are lots of other kits to choose from!  Check out the gallery showing all kinds of inspiration using all of these amazing kits!  I still have two more layouts and four cards to share in the coming weeks...yay!

Thank you so much for taking a peek today, and have a wonderful Friday!

More Simple Stories GDT projects

Hey there!  Today I'm sharing the final three projects I created as a Guest Designer at Simple Stories this month.  I really could have made more projects with all the amazing products, but I just ran out of time.  I had such a great time being a part of this, and I'm so lucky to have received this amazing collection!  Thanks for having me, Simple Stories :)

If you're familiar with SS, then you know there are always a few sheets with half-page designs on them.  This black piece was one, so I decided to use it as a big piece of my layout.  I started with that and just added on top of it.  The yellow piece with the hearts cut out was part of an album that comes with the kit.  I'm not a big album maker, so I used it on my page.  I layered in the rest and placed my photos on the side.  I used a pre-made 3x4 card as my title.  SS makes titling so easy for you!

I'm a sucker for rainbows!  I wish I had a whole pack of this brad alone :)

Fun chipboard pieces make the perfect little touches.

This page was an experiment.  I wanted to give the background a rainbow color wash, so I pulled out my gelatos and went to work.  I also spritzed some and then used a chevron mask and modeling paste.  I wanted a subtle texture back there, and that's exactly how it turned out.  It just sort of blends in.  I had the idea of the sky when the sun it setting...all the peaceful colors and how they blend together...that's what this reminds me of.

This chipboard banner is one of my favorite pieces in the collection.

A close-up of the texture and the cute triangles I cut out.

Finally, here's my last card.  Sweet and simple...I really wanted to use this cute chipboard bicycle.  I added a stamp at the bottom, and that was it.

Thank you so much for visiting me today...I hope you have a nice day!
