Hello again and Happy Weekend! I'm back today with a new layout for the Paige Evans Design Team featuring Paige’s Go the Scenic Route collection. I love Paper 7 with the beautiful orange map, so I wanted to use a big chunk of it on my layout. I tore it and then added another small torn strip of Paper 13. Since there are hints of pink on the map, I decided to make that my third color. I attached these papers to a sheet of textured white cardstock. I wanted to add pink watercolors on that part, so I coated the white cardstock with clear gesso. I placed my photo on the center of the torn edges and used a few pink Shimmerz sprays and a bright orange spray under and around the photo. I embellished around the photo with lots of beautiful florals.
I created the title using Paige’s Paige Font cut file. I cut it on the same papers as well as white cardstock. I used the pink spray to color the white one and then added vellum behind the open spaces to make the words more visible. I also popped them up with some adhesive foam to create dimension.
When I first laid the title down, I noticed that I couldn't really read it since you could see the patterned paper behind the open parts. The vellum really helped with that. I fussy cut a few smaller flowers from the 6x8 Paper Pad. I also added in three of the Charms and tangled thread in a few places I tucked in lots of flowers from the Floral Die Cuts as well.I used one of the large floral Chipboard Stickers on the left side of the photo along with more Floral Die Cuts and fussy cut pieces. I love how the pink watercolors turned out here.I embellished on the other side of the photo with more floral pieces and more thread. I used pink pieces from the Ephemera Die Cuts behind the photo as layers as well as some of the already used patterned papers. I wanted to keep the map paper clean and simple, but I did add blue Shimmerz splatters and white acrylic paint splatters. Here are a few more close-ups :)
I love how this one came out! It was a lot of fun to begin with a patterned paper and use it to create the design and color scheme. It's hard to leave paper "unmessy" for me...haha. You know I love to add some watercolor or gesso to just about anything! Hopefully this still inspires you in some way today :)
Here's my process video if you'd like to check it out:
Thanks for stopping by, and have a wonderful weekend!
