Just a Couple of Crazies / My Scraps & More

Happy Monday, friends!  Just popping in to share a layout I created for a challenge last week at My Scraps & More.  I've been trying to use up some of my Glitz stash, and this was made using the Color Me Happy collection.  I decided to really change up the black and white triangle background by covering it with gesso.  I then added random stamping, some watercolor paints and some circles.  I used gelatos to get that colored shaded look inside them.  I was just in the mood for messy and colorful, and I love how it turned out :)

I love the giant rhinestones in this collection.  I decided to add a few of my own smaller ones to add a variation of color.  I also added lots of washi tape here and there.

Here's my journaling,  more rhinestones, more tape, more gelatos...more of all of my faves!

Here's a good shot of the layering and stamping.  Sometimes it's just fun to get messy and not really have a plan!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Have a great Monday :)

Fly Me Away / My Mind's Eye Jubliee

Hey, y'all!  I'm back today to share a layout I created for My Mind's Eye last week.  As soon as I saw this bright and colorful map paper from the Jubilee Tangerine line, I knew I had to scrap some airplane pictures!  These are from the plane on our way to Las Vegas back in August.  The chipboard "Fly Me Away" piece was perfect, and everything just came very easily for this since I knew exactly where to put my photos.

It was strange not using any watercolors or paste or gesso on this, but it clearly didn't need any!  I love how this turned out...so fun and vibrant!

I added some chipboard pieces, some stickers, some decorative tape and some enamel shapes to this little cluster in the bottom corner.

Lots of layering here, as usual :)  Paper, stickers, chipboard, flair, die cuts...I love the challenge of combining all the pieces of a collection.

The colors in this range are so gorgeous...I wanted to add a bit more onto this heart.  The enamel dots were perfect.  I reached into my Necessities collection for the word stickers.  They're perfect for adding little touches to any project.

Have you ever really been inspired by one single sheet of paper?  This map paper really spoke to me, and I really love the end result.  I hope you are inspired by this in some way :)

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Hello Las Vegas / My Scraps & More

Another Las Vegas layout....I know!  Haha!  I can't help it...I have so many fun pictures from a few trips out there this year, and I love scrapping them.  These photos are from back in March.  A few friends and I went out there for a Les Mills event (the company that creates BodyPump and lots of other workout programs).  I teach it, and so it was technically a "work trip."  Either way, we had a blast working out and exploring Vegas.  My friend Jennifer had never been, so we had to go check out the Bellagio and Caesar's Palace :)

I used a lot of American Crafts for this, as well as a little Basic Grey and Bo Bunny cardstock.  I created this for a Friday Favorite challenge at My Scraps and More last week, which is a scraplift challenge.  I lifted a page by Alissa, which featured an awesome grid design.

Lots of layering...I just love it!  I even added in some drywall tape as a layer here as well as some gold thread.  I love curling the edges of my paper, too...it gives great dimension.  Here you can also see the pretty watercolor I added to my background.

These alpha stickers are so old...they're Storyteller stickers from Webster's Pages.  I still think the cursive font is so pretty, and the colors I have matched this perfectly.  Isn't that drywall tape so neat?  Get it at Home Depot!

These gold shiny Thickers are SO cool! And if I make a Vegas page, I feel like it's required to use something blingy or sparkly :)  I love this big chipboard Hello circle.  I just can't get enough layering!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Have a great Tuesday!

Creative Scrappers #278 / It's P!nk!

Hey, friends!  I hope you're ready for some awesome sketch inspiration today because Creative Scrappers is up with a new one again!  I just love using sketches to get started on a layout.  Usually once I finish a layout, I look at it and think, "I would never have come up with this design on my own."  That's what I love about sketches...they help you go in a direction you likely wouldn't have even thought about in the first place.  This one here is one of those....it has an awesome grid design.  Check it out!

I just had to scrap some of the phone photos I took of P!nk during her concert in January.  We got to see her in Las Vegas, and it was unbelievable.  She is such a great performer and singer....all while flying through the air.  And she doesn't lip sync.  She sounded perfect, and we really enjoyed the show.

I used mostly papers from the Studio Calico Print Shop collection with a little bit of American Crafts Plus One thrown in.  Actually, I even used a bit of AC Sketchbook and a few others as well.  I keep all my AC stored together and I can't remember what line some of the embellishments go with!  I knew I wanted to use the obvious color here....pink.  I love this & paper, and so I decided to use orange and black as strong colors here as well.

I cut one of these tags from patterned paper and the other from cardstock.  I used distress inks and stamps to make it match.  I used a Jillibean Soup camera stamp here and added some inks to it, too.  I love handmade embellishments!  I used some AC stickers and some Tim Holtz rub-ons, and then my new fave!  Machine stitching!  LOVE LOVE LOVE!  Soooooo happy I finally learned how to do this.

Okay, here I pulled out other goodies to use....more stamps, chipboard stars that I embossed with silver powder, cute flair buttons and washi tape.  I love how so many random bits can come together so nicely.

Here you can see how I raised the photos up for dimension and was able to add some thread underneath as well as that big orange doily sticker.  I layered some stars, stickers and stamping on top of it.  That snapshot stamp is from Elle's Studio.  I love how the texture of the cardstock shows through!

We would love to have you play along with us!  You could win a prize from our sponsor, My Creative Scrapbook.  Also, every Wednesday we choose a Featured Layout to showcase on the blog...it could be you!  Make sure you link up on the Creative Scrappers blog by September 30th.

My Scraps Sketch #91 / Hello Happy Summer

Hey there, friends!  I have a very happy and bright layout to share today, and it's based on the brand new sketch over on the My Scraps and More Sketch Blog.  You can check out the sketch HERE, as well as the rest of the design team's designs.  There is quite a bit of fun inspiration :)

I wanted to scrap these cute pool pictures of my two girlies, so I used the Good Day Sunshine collection from Simple Stories.  I am in love with all of these rainbow colors!  I started off with cutting a large messy circle on my Cameo, and then I built the layers inside of it.  I wanted all the bright colors to be scattered all over the page, so I made sure to even them out.  I like the touches of black, so I added some India Ink and some black stamping.

And this the first layout I'm posting that has something NEW on it....well, new for me.  Machine stitching!  Yes!  I finally caved and purchased a sewing machine.  I was VERY surprised that I actually loaded it correctly the first time (thanks to a YouTube video!) and stitched on paper very easily the first time.  Turns out, it's not nearly as hard as I thought it would be!  I wish I had done this sooner.  I have always LOVED the look of machine stitching but was always intimidated by the process.  I'm still in the practicing phase, but I'm loving it!  On this layout, I just added a few yellow straight stitches and some zig zags for interest.  Since this page, I've stitched on every page I've made...haha!  I'm obsessed!

Love the hombre rainbows in this line...and there are a LOT of pieces that have it.  Just gorgeous!

Stitching....woo hoo!!  It's not perfect, but I think that's okay.  I just love the finished look it gives.  I added in a few enamel dots, brads and die cuts in the two corners.  I love stamping on transparency paper....so easy to cut and place it wherever you want.

The other corner...more of the same.  And more stitching!

I hope you join us and play along with the sketch...you could win the South of Market collection from Studio Calico!  And don't forget to check out all the new goodies in the My Scraps Store!   You can save 20% on your order this month.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great weekend!

Little Trick or Treaters / Chickaniddy Crafts

Hey there, scrappy friends!  I'm so excited to share a fun little Halloween layout with you today!  It's my first layout for the new term at Chickaniddy Crafts.  It was up on the blog last week here.  Halloween is my favorite holiday to scrap because there is just so much you can do with it.  The new Scrumptious collection has a lot of fun Halloween colors, and I love that you can mix and match and use it for general Fall layouts as well.  I couldn't wait to scrap this cute photo of my little girl and our trick-or-treater dolls!  The colors were a perfect fit.

I first selected the patterned papers that I thought showcased Halloween-related colors.  I knew I wanted to use the black and white stars.  I used some gesso to fade out parts of it, and I added yellow paint smudges to pull the yellow from the right side.  I found a cute spider web cut file in the Silhouette store and made that the focal point for my photo.

I love these pumpkin stickers!  They layer very nicely.  I added some lines with a brown and gold marker.  I absolutely LOVE the alpha stamps in this collection!  Check out the amazing shadowing...and the blank space allows you to color them to match!  I used some green watercolors.  So fun and easy!

This collection has a lot of fun labels and sentiment stickers, which are fantastic for layering and adding to a cluster.  All the different styles and colors were perfect for this cluster at the bottom of my page.

Here you can see the layers really well.  I love that each piece of patterned paper is easily coordinated with the next one...everything just goes so well together.  I used a few of the adorable enamel stars...they are SO cute!

Supplies Used: Scrumptious: SC140S07 Nutmeg, SC140S12 Corn on the Cob, SC140S04 Back to School, SC140S03 Pumpkin Spice, SC140S11 Frolic in the Leaves, SC140S06 Autumn Haze, SC14EB02 Sticker Sheet, SC14EB03 Journal Tags, SC14EB04 Die Cut Tags, SC14EB06 Mini Sticker Tags, SC14EB07 Mini Sticker Sentiments, SC14EB09 Enamel Stars, SC14ST01 Alpha Stamps

I hope this gets you in the Halloween spirit!  This collection is perfect for scrapping those Halloween snapshots!

High Roller / My Scraps & More

Hey, friends!  Happy Weekend...woo hoo!  Do you have any papers or collections that you love, but you just haven't found the right photo to use with it?  I've had the Everyday Eclectic line from Echo Park since it came out, and I've used it a few times.  But I never had the right photo to use for this awesome background paper.  It's all about the fair, and I haven't been to a fair in ages.  My husband and I have made a few quick long weekend trips to Vegas this year, and I just had to go and see this new High Roller in person.  It's not a fair, but it's a giant ferris wheel with pods that hold up to 40 people in each one!  We didn't ride it, but it looks really cool, and I love how my picture turned out!  This paper was just right for it :)

I created this layout for a My Scraps "Throwback" challenge to use a collection at least two years old and to hand draw something.  I started by adding gesso to the background, and then I used some of the gorgeous blue Dylusions ink and a brush to make some large sketchy circles.  I didn't want them perfect.  Then I drew over that with a black pen.  It was a great way to tie in more of the blue color from my photo.

What's a page about Las Vegas without some form of glitter, right?  Love these silver glitter Thickers!  Here you can see some of the ink close up.  I just love getting messy :)

I used a lot of the stickers in this collection, and I did add a lot of pop dots for dimension.  That "best day ever" is a stamp on vellum that I cut out, and the "see" flair pin is from Studio Calico.  The date stamp is the new Heidi Swapp from Michael's...I love the cursive font!

More stickers, layers and vellum stamping.  I highly recommend stamping on vellum...it not only looks cool, but it allows you to put it wherever you want it without having to actually stamp onto the background paper.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  Have a wonderful weekend!

A layout for MME + a Chickaniddy Sneak!

Happy Thursday, friends!  I'm really excited to share my latest layout for My Mind's Eye with you today!  It went up on the blog a few days ago.  It features the new Jubilee Wild Berry collection, which is just amazing.  I saw this background paper and it was just begging for some color!  So I grabbed my gesso and watercolors and gave it some :D

I was inspired by the 3x4 journaling cards in this line.  This one (You are such a gem) was already painted with a pink watercolor effect, so I tried to recreate that look in the background.  I knew I wanted to use that as my title.  I love the black against the pink, and that font is awesome.  I did use a few decorative tapes from other MME lines as well.

Here I layered lots of goodies...die cuts, frames, chipboard, thread, flair...it's all so fun and easy to put together in a cluster.  I also like the visible texture from the gesso and watercolors.

These little days of the week sticky notes are so fun!  And there's a whole stack of them...so you probably won't run out any time soon.  I added a chipboard button and flower, a brad, an enamel heart and a die cut.

Flair pins...eeeeek!   Need I say more?!  I felt the need to layer things on top of my photo in this layout.  It just worked.

And a final shot of the watercolors down at the bottom.  I can't get enough of paint these days!

And before I go, I am up on the Chickaniddy blog today!  I'm sharing my first layout as a design team member for the new term.  It's a cute Halloween layout, and I hope you like it!  Check it out HERE.  Here's a little sneak of it....

Thanks so much for stopping by today...I am so thankful for all of my blog readers!

La La La Love You / My Scraps & More

Hello there :)  The layout I'm sharing today features an older Glitz collection...Finnley.  I worked on going through some of my stash last month, and my Glitz lines were the target.  I made four pages using a few of my stashed away collections.  I made this one for one of the summer challenges over at My Scraps & More to use a HUGE title on a layout.  I chose this adorable cut file from The Cut Shoppe and blew it up really large.  It just seemed to be meant to work with the design of this layout, and I really love how it turned out.

I jazzed up this beautiful green background sheet with a stencil and modeling paste and a little watercolor.  I used black & grey to add a little bit of darkness here and there since there are black elements scattered around the page.  I doodled an outline around the title to make it pop a little more.

I used lots of stickers from the collection as well as some of the pocket cards, die cuts and giant rhinestones.  This line is actually a baby collection, but it reminds me of Christmas. I made a layout about neither, and it still works!  I think it's because of all the green in my photos.  I also added lots of stamping on my background.

Layers are so much fun to build.  I think my favorite part is building a layer cluster and tucking things in underneath.  I added pop dots to my photo...it just adds that little something extra to the page.

I hope this inspires you to use a really big title on a layout.  Don't be afraid to go bold!  It's really fun!

Thanks for visiting me today, and have a great Tuesday!

Creative Scrappers #278

Hey there, friends!  It's time for another awesome reveal over at Creative Scrappers!  I had a lot of fun with this sketch...check it out:

I love layering, white space and triangles.  There is a lot you can do with this sketch.  I hope you play along with us!

I used some of the new American Craft's Shimelle collection for this.  To begin, I created a messy background on white cardstock.  I took several mists, sprayed them onto plastic packaging, and used that to smudge the color around.  I used grey, orange, teal and reddish-pink to bring out all the colors in my papers and embellishments.

The washi tape strips were all from my stash...the striped one came from Walmart!  Yep...they have a little selection of tapes now.  The red & white star one I found at the Dollar Tree last year!  Random!  It doesn't stick very well, but I still like it...and there's always glue...haha :D

I love all the fun travel embellishments in this collection.  I decided to fill up some of that white space on the sketch.  Since the photo was taken on a road trip to Georgia, I wanted to use the red bus, the suitcase and the "Go Somewhere Lovely" sticker.  I also pulled out a bicycle rub on from an older collection.  It was kind of scratched up and didn't rub on very well, but I like the sketchy way it looks.
I also layered in some Tim Holtz rubons I have in my stash as well as some triangle stamps.

Here you can see my photo layers a bit better, the stamping and the rub ons.  I also found a cute bicycle flair pin from Studio Calico in my stash.  We had just finished an RPM class, which is a stationary bike workout...similar to Spinning, which is what I teach.

See those black dots?  That's from the stamp in the Shimelle line...I LOVE IT!  You can add little texture dots onto any project with that...I really love how that looks.  I also used some Studio Calico alphas for my vertical title on the right.

I hope you join us with the sketch :)  The prize up for grabs is from My Creative Scrapbook!  Awesome kits with awesome goodies!  Don't miss out on that!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!
