Bird is the Word & Paper Thrills Reveal

I finished this layout just time for the "Time" challenge at Bird is the Word. I used the Summertime line from Echo Park...I just used it for another challenge the other day! I can't get enough of it. I'm scrapping photos from May, and there are a lot of swimming pics. I have to scrap one month at a time or else I get confused...haha.

I also wanted to share with you the latest reveal at Paper Thrills. This challenge focuses on using your Christmas cards as embellishments. I hand cut the letters at the top from a card, and the white card with the cursive writing was easy to use. My title is the answer to the question :) I actually jumped to December to scrap these pics...I have a stack of Christmas layouts already, and I'm technically still scrapping summer of 2010.

Thanks for stopping by, and Happy New Year!

Sketchy Thursdays 12.15

Yay! I finished the latest Sketchy Thursdays sketch. It was an obvious Christmas sketch, but I had some sweet summertime pool pics to scrap, so I turned it on its side and went for it.

Here's what I made...I used the Summertime line from Echo Park. I have these white shaped border strips that I bought on clearance at Michael's months ago. I used one with circles around the border, and I used blue chalk to mask the shapes. Love the look it gives!

The shadows on these pics make my husband's face & neck look so dark! It doesn't look like that in real life...he is pretty scruffy, but not like this...haha!

And here's the sketch...

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day :)

Merry Christmas!

I wanted to say Merry Christmas to all my scrappy friends! Here is my final layout with Sweet Peach Crop Shop...it's our family photo from last year. It's not my favorite photo from a photographer's standpoint...too many tree branch shadows on our faces! (It drives me crazy every time I look at it...my hubby's head looks funny!) Oh, well...it was hard to get the girls to be still for 5 whole seconds, so it is what it is! Have a wonderful Christmas, everyone!

A few Sweet Peach layouts

Happy Holidays, everyone! Before times get super busy, I wanted to share two more of my layouts featuring the December Juicy Kit from Sweet Peach Crop Shop. Sadly, this is the final kit from there...the shop is closing soon :( I know there is a ton of scrappy goodness on sale there...check it out and see what you can get for cheap!

My first one features a few of the Prima North Country Papers...not my usual style, but I worked with them enough here to finally make something work that is "me." I adore this wooden ornament...it makes a fantastic mask as well.

I added some stitching and buttons...

These grey Thickers are included in the kit, as well as these multi-colored brads.

I based this layout on this awesome sketch by Keri:

Here is my second layout. These Pink Paislee, Prima and Hambly papers reminded me of Valentine's Day, but they're actually winter-ish papers. I love the turquoise mixed in with the reds & pinks. Perfect for these pictures of Reese in her pink Santa shirt :)

I splattered lots of blue paint on my background and misted lots of pink. I also added some rubons from Hambly...they go on very smoothly! I added this twine from last month's kit, and the blue rubon alphas are from the September kit! I love using bits and pieces from past kits!

Have a wonderful day and a very Merry Christmas, everyone!

ScrapFIT #58 Reveal & a Sweet Peach layout

Good Friday morning! I have two layouts to share today...the first one is my layout for ScrapFIT's newest workout. #58 is all about using mini pictures! I love working with small photos...it gives you the chance to use lots of them!

I used craft paint and bubble wrap to create my background, and then added some misting in yellow & pink. My papers are from the Summertime Echo Park Collection...so bright and colorful!

I love the rainbow colored alpha stickers in this collection...so right up my alley :) I also added several buttons, scattered throughout the page.

Paper Lovelies is our sponsor for the month...don't miss out on the chance to win this awesome prize!

Enter your layout or card on the ScrapFIT blog! Also, don't forget about the Design Team call going on right now! Read about it here.

My next layout is based on a sketch over at Sweet Peach Crop Shop. I don't know if you read the most recent announcement over there, but the shop is closing :( We are all so sad, but it is what Corrie felt needed to be done for her. You can read the announcement here.

Here is the fantastic sketch by Keri:

And here is what I created. I flipped the sketch and used this gorgeous Prima paper that is included in the December Juicy Kit.

I punched these circles out to create my banner. I added glossy accents to them to give them some shine.

That's it for today...thanks for stopping by!

It's a Bright Sunshiny Day!

That's the title of my latest layout :) The newest Challenge Me Happy challenge is up, and it's based on a sketch. I always love making somewhat of a landscape on my layouts, so this sketch made that pretty easy. I used some of the Echo Park Summertime Collection. I used chalk and craft paint to create my sky and clouds.

I cut a few clouds out of patterned paper and hid my sun behind one. I added some stitched rays.

I made a few accordian flowers and topped them with rhinestones...love those!

Check out this awesome sketch:

Artfull Crafts is the sponsor for December, and the winner of this sketch challenge will win a fantastic scrappy kit!!

Oh, no she didn't!

That is the title of my latest layout for Sketchy Thursdays...haha! I couldn't resist these funny pictures of Paige. She looks so shocked to hear the latest gossip :) I used papers from an old stack of Me & My Big Ideas. I wanted to use a black background and use white mist & paint for accents. I love how it turned out!

Here is the sketch:

ScrapFIT Weekend Warm-Up #20

ScrapFIT has another awesome challenge for you! This one features distressing and chipboard. I created this Hangin'With Dad layout as a sample.

I used papers from an old DCWV stack. The chipboard pieces are from the same line. I added some stamping and stitching, as well as some buttons & thread.

I love this little skinny banner!

I love buttons & tiny thread bows! So dainty up next to ripped and distressed paper :)

Thanks for checking in! Have a great weekend :)

ScrapFIT & Paper Thrills Reveal, plus a Sweet Peach layout

I have lots to share with you today! I can't believe it's December already. Holy cow, that was fast! My first layout is one from ScrapFIT. The new workout starting today is about your Word of the Year. I could think of no better word than "hope." My journaling is pretty serious...which is something I don't normally do in my layouts. But it's fitting for what's happening in my life and my outlook for my children's futures.

I did a lot of stitching on this one. I broke out my Bazzill templates and stitched a few flowers & leaves. I chalked them to add color. I also used a scallop shape as a mask and inked over it to create my background. I lightly chalked some blue color around the edges of the scallop. I used some bright papers from an old stack of DCWV from a few years ago.

The prize sponsor for this challenge is Paper Lovelies!

Paper Lovelies is an online paper crafting site filled with all that is good in the scrapbooking industry. Our monthly scrapbooking kits are hand-picked from some of the best retailers with you in mind so you won't miss out on the newest releases from your favorite manufacturers.

Our promise to you is to provide quality scrapbooking kits at an affordable cost. You'll love the flexibility of our kit club as you purchase just the kit you want, when you want it, all without the hassle of a subscription. Our kits are 15.00 each and every month!

Be sure to visit the ScrapFIT blog and check out what the other awesome DT members created for their Word of the Year. Link up your layout on the Mr. Linky...you have all month long!

Paper Thrills also has a new challenge up. I really loved this one. The challenge is to find an ad and use it as inspiration for your layout. I chose this Target Black Friday ad:

Here is what I created...I used a laser-cut piece of cardstock as a mask and misted & chalked around the edges. I used bright summery papers from an old stack of Me and My Big Ideas.

Lastly, I wanted to share a fourth layout I created using the Sweet Peach Crop Shop's December Juicy Kit. I usually tend to start with a white or kraft colored cardstock as my background, but I went out of my comfort zone and used a bold aqua color.

That's it for now! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
