Upside Down

Happy Tuesday, friends!  Today I'm sharing a page I created for My Scraps and More and the latest Lily Bee sketch challenge.  I really loved the sketch and wanted to dig into my Sweet Shoppe and Pinwheel collections for this one.  I love rainbows, so I decided to create my own rainbow-ish background with mists, gelatos and modeling paste.  The rest is layers behind my photo with lots of fun embellishments added in.  I love the variety of color and patterns on these papers :)

These layers look like a set of stairs to me :)  I love adding black pen details to my pages...especially the paste.

More details.  I used pop dots for this arrow to give it some dimension.

I also added ink splatters and lots of stamping...one of my favorites!

I hope this inspires you to create your own background and get a little bit messy!  I promise you, it's FUN!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Creative Scrappers #254

Are you ready for another awesome sketch from Creative Scrappers?  Yes!  When I first saw this sketch, I knew right away that I wanted to dig into the New Elle's Studio Penelope collection.  I LOVE this line...so fun and girly!  I decided to scrap this photo of my Reesie Cup...I just adore action shots of her being giggly :)

I threw in some paint splatters, washi tape and vellum here and there.  Aren't these colors just great together?

Elle's has the cutest embellishment pieces...adding those in was my favorite part of this layout.

Check out the amazing sketch by the super talented Jenny Evans!

Make sure you hop on over to the Creative Scrappers blog and check out the full reveal!  So much inspiration!

Grateful for Her *My Creative Scrapbook*

Happy Friday, friends!  Today is a teacher work day, so the kids are home from school.  We all slept in...it was awesome!

The page I'm sharing today is one of my projects for My Creative Scrapbook this month.  I used the October Main Kit, which is mostly Bo Bunny.  There are a few MME pages thrown in, and that gorgeous coral background is one of those papers.  Isn't that color just beautiful?  Once I saw it, I knew it had to be used as a background.  The hard part was the other side...it was gorgeous, too!  See the biggest background paper with the hint of flowers peeking through?  I cut the coral out and then flipped the trim around and used it, too.  I added in a piece of white paper to cover up the gaps, and you can't even tell! I also added some modeling paste over a lattice stencil...it matches the pattern on the coral paper.

Bo Bunny goodies and a Prima flower.  I misted up the flower to match my blues.

A Petaloo flower, which I inked, and the rest here is Bo Bunny, MME and a Leaky Shed chipboard circle.

Layers...love them!

I just love this picture of my baby goose...she's so photogenic and doesn't even try :)

Smile! You're 2! (Well, you were...)

Hey, friends!  Today we finally have some nice cool weather in Florida!  It's in the 60s!  Yeah!  It feels awesome out there.  Here's a page I created for one of our Saturday Steal challenges over at My Scraps and More last week.  I chose one of our members (Berta) to lift.  She used lots of triangles in her page, and I wanted to challenge myself to create something that was out of my comfort zone.  So here's what I came up with...it's a birthday pic of my little Paige when she turned two.  She's 4.5 now...she was so little back then!

I continued using the Sketchbook collection from American Crafts...LOVE this line!  I added a bit of modeling paste to my background, followed by some different color ink splatters.  I also used a black pen to outline my paste and triangles.

I found these brads at Michael's...and they matched this line perfectly.

One of my favorite embellishments...rolled up twine...I don't know what I like this so much!

This sticky button was also a Michael's clearance find!

I cut the big 2 out of vellum on my Cameo...I need to use vellum more.  It's a wonderful way to add something fun to your pages.

I'm going to be really sad when I run out of this line...it has been one of my all-time faves!

Thanks for visiting me today, and enjoy your Thursday!

A Little Privacy, Please!

Happy Tuesday, scrappy peeps!  I can't believe it's approaching Halloween and it's still in the 80s here.  It's just still so hot and humid outside...ugh.  You'd think I'd be used to this since I've lived in Florida my entire life, but I'm not :)

Today, I'm sharing a page I created for the latest sketch over at My Scraps and More.  I've been digging into my stash of older American Crafts...the Sketchbook collection.  Seriously, I just can't stop using it.  I love the colors, the embellishments, those sweet little cameras!

I used a bunch of blue color shine mist to create these drips.  I also used some modeling paste and blue paint mixed together to create the bubbles and then I added some behind my photo layers.

Die-cuts, stickers, buttons, floss, tape...LOVE them all!

Omg...if you haven't given sequins a try, you simply MUST!  I got these adorable ones from Whimsical Twist...and they're very inexpensive and super adorable!

Blue modeling paste, ink, sequins, stamps, tape...just a few of my faves :)

You can go HERE to see the sketch and to join in with us!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Today She Smiles **My Creative Scrapbook**

Happy Sunday!  Here's another page I designed using the October Main Kit from My Creative Scrapbook.  For this one, I wanted to focus on layering and embellishing around my one central photo.  I also managed to get in a yellow visual triangle with the two clocks and Prima flower.  The Prima canvas borders are so fun...you can mist them any color you want :)

I added some modeling paste to the background, fussy cut this cute bird, and cut the word "Today" with my Cameo.

Another cute bird on top of my layers and some pretty floss...I used some of the soft ribbon included in the kit, too.

The upper right cluster...

Be sure to check out all the kits HERE...it won't be long before the November kits are out...wow!  Where is the time going?

Have a great day!

A Throwback Layout for My Scraps

It's Friday!  Thank goodness.  I'm ready for some down time...and scrap time!  Today's page is one I made a few weeks ago for a My Scraps  Throwback Thursday challenge.  I challenged our board members to used a collection that is at least two years old and pair it with black and white photos.  I used the AdLib collection from Bo Bunny.  I can't believe I hoarded it and let it sit there for so long!  It's full of really bright colors and fun patterns.  I was immediately drawn to the bracket die-cut paper.  I doodled around the edges of it.

I cut the title on my Cameo and traced it with black pen.

More doodling...these papers are just full of doodles!

I had to add a button and some cord :)

A short and sweet post today...I hope you have a great weekend!  And thanks so much for visiting my blog :)

Her Private Nook **My Creative Scrapbook** + tutorial

Hey there, friends!  I'm up on the My Creative Scrapbook blog today with a page I created using the October Main Kit.  I also have a tutorial up on how I made my messy painted background.  I really like the coral, turquoise and beige mixed together.  If you remember from my other post, at first I was very hesitant about this kit and these papers & embellishments...they're just not my typical style.  Once I dug through my photos and found these cute ones of Reese hanging out in her bay window, I knew they'd be perfect.  I honestly didn't think I'd use that big window die-cut...but it works for this!

I'm addicted to layers!  I even used the lace trim included in the kit...and I'm not a lacy person at all.  But it just seems natural with these romantic papers :)

Cord always adds a nice touch, and I inked up the Prima flowers and smushed them down a bit.

Modeling paste over a stencil added over the paint here...

I combined the blue letter stickers with a stamped title and a Cameo die-cut here...I like mixing and matching.

Here is how I created my background.  It looks difficult, but it's not!  Plus, it's a lot of fun :)

Here's the finished page again.

Thanks for visiting me today!  See you soon!

Hello Azaleas (a gelato layout!)

Happy Wednesday, friends!  The page I'm sharing today is one I made several weeks ago for My Scraps and More.  It was for a lift challenge, and I chose a layout from one of our message board members to lift.  I had been wanting to use this fun circle Cameo cut for a while, and this layout was perfect for it.

I started with a piece of blue cardstock.  I traced circles on it and then smudged it all up with some gelatos, spray ink, watercolor pencils and modeling paste.  The circle die-cut was white until I went over it with gelatos and water.  Those things are SO much fun to play with!  I added just a few pieces of patterned paper from Crate and American Crafts, and the embellishments are mostly AC.  I used some random washi tapes...one of them is from MME.

I couldn't wait to scrap these gorgeous photos...I have a lot more from this photo shoot.  I just adore the bright pinks and yellows!

Layers, tape, paste, gelatos...I was in a messy mood for this one :)

Cute American Crafts stickers!

I cut the word "azaleas" on my Cameo and colored it.

I hope this inspires you to get a little messy and try gelatos...they're like playing with lipstick!

Have a great day, and thanks for stopping in!

Time Flies {My Creative Scrapbook}

Happy Monday, friends!  I know I posted all of my October Main Kit pages from My Creative Scrapbook already for our Blog Hop, but I wanted to re-post them individually and share the close-ups I have for each one.

This was the first page I made after almost having a meltdown over the papers!  I opened my kit and my first thought was, "These papers are the complete opposite of my style!  What in the world am I going to  make out of these?"  Seriously...I had a freak out moment.  I'm just not the"romantic papers" type AT ALL.  This Bo Bunny line is full of clocks, damask patterns, script, birds...everything just scared me.  But I let it sit for a while and then went back through it all.  It hit me that I had some photos of Reese standing in our bay window...and that I could make something out of the window and shutter pieces.  Once I got over that hurdle, the page just went from there....and now I LOVE this page!

The blue and white dotted paper worked perfectly with her blue shirt, and I added some blue to the script background paper using a stencil and modeling paste.  Then I went over it with a blue gelato.

I had no idea what I was going to do with these birds...and then they just decided to sit by the shutter and look in on my daughter :)  I added some cord...it reminded me of a bird's nest.

I combined a die-cut title with the Bo Bunny stickers and threw in a few stamped alphas.

These layered tags made embellishing a lot easier :)

More layering and a close-up of the modeling paste.

So here's what I learned from this kit:
  • Just because the papers aren't your style doesn't mean you won't like what you create.
  • Search for photos that will work with the papers and embellishments.
  • Alter papers to make it your own (or match your photos).
  • Add paint or mist to change up the color of something.
  • Work with the papers instead of against them.
  • Don't be afraid to try a line you're scared of....it's good to challenge yourself!!
Now that I've admitted my scrappy fears (haha) you can hop on over to the My Creative Scrapbook blog and order one of these kits...or one of the others.  There are several to choose from, and they're all wonderful!

 Thanks for stopping by today!
