A Day at the Lake (My Creative Scrapbook) + a NEW kit!

Happy Tuesday, friends!  I can't believe July is coming to a close.  That means it's time to wrap up all the projects created with the July Main Kit at My Creative Scrapbook.  This is my fifth and final page using the I Heart Summer line from Simple Stories.  It has been such a pleasure to work with :)

This one was pretty easy to throw together because of the nature of the patterned papers.  The design with the banners was already there, so all I did was add the long black strip from another piece of patterned paper and add my photos.  I threw in the fishy border, the chipboard banner and created a colorful "sun" to hold my title.

The DIY Thickers in the kit are awesome...I just smudged some paint on these to make them blue.

The chipboard banner was one of my favorite pieces in the kit :)

The August kits will be revealed within the week...it's weird saying August already!  It's almost here.  To check out all the July kits, go HERE.

Curtain Tornado

Hello and Happy Monday, friends!  I hope you enjoyed your weekend.  Today I have a page to share that I created for My Scraps and More.  It features the About a Boy line from Echo Park.  I have to say that I have loved using this line for my girls!  I love the primary rainbow colors, and you really can make this work for just about anything.  I love these cute photos of Paige making what I call a "Curtain Tornado" out of the front curtains!  She's so silly :D

I threw in some vellum as one of my background layers and added some washi tape, some stamps, some watered down paint and some twine.  It reminds me of twisters, and I didn't even realize that until I was finished with the page!  Sometimes random things turn out to match up perfectly :)

I threw in one of my favorite embellishments....buttons!

I love the look of wrinkled and curled up paper!  And the rainbow paper on the side is just small strips, even though you can't tell from the front.

More lovely layers :)

Be sure to check out the My Scraps store....so many new lines to pre-order!

Have a GREAT day and thank you so much for stopping by :)

Washi Rainbows {Love My Tapes}

Happy Friday, friends!  I have a fun page to share with you today using lots of washi tape from Love My Tapes.

Before I get to the details, I want to say that this is my final project for the Love My Tapes DT.  I have thoroughly enjoyed creating projects for the last four months, and I will truly miss working with the lovely ladies over there.  They are all so talented, and it has been a lot of fun!  A huge thanks to Tina and Annette for their leadership roles...I know it wasn't easy.  They were awesome, and I will miss them.

Now....on to my page!  You know I love rainbows, and they work really well when you have black and white photos.  I started with white cardstock and used an arrow template and black ink to create subtle arrows.  Next, I used a template I created using my Cameo.  I used rainbow colored spray inks to make sort of a "rainbow ombre" effect across the page.  I then pulled out a rainbow variety of washi tapes and just added a strip or two of each color.  Stamps came next...just random placement here and there.

I pulled out my little container of little multi-colored glass pebbles for this one....totally forgot about them!  I've had them for years.  A few flowers here and there finished it all off.  And I'm not a huge flower user...but sometimes I just have to pull them out :)

Surprise...I used buttons...haha!  Love how you can really see the cardstock texture up close.  Oh, that's a rub-on in there, too.

I love this technique...just winding up floss, twine or cord into a circle and gluing it down.  Looks like it just sort of fell there.  I love it!

I hope this rainbow inspires you to create something fun and bright today!  Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Summer Fun This Way --> {My Creative Scrapbook}

Happy Wednesday, scrappy friends!  I'm sharing another page I created with the July Main Kit from My Creative Scrapbook.  The I Heart Summer line from Simple Stories is the focus of the kit, and it's so full of fun colors and patterns.  Most of the pages I created with them are pool or lake related, but this one is just a sweet summer time picture of my little Paige.

It's a pretty simple page...some inking, splattering, layering and stickers.  I wanted the focus of this page to be the picture.  I really love the fun titles that Simple Stories creates for you!

Simple layers and some journaling...

Yep...there's my button :)

Love the super cute chipboard stickers, too!

Be sure to check out all the fun kits at My Creative Scrapbook...you won't be disappointed.

This Girl Sure is Fabulous

Hey, friends!  It's time to share another My Scraps and More page :)  This one follows Sketch #37.  I used the new Fancy Pants collection Memories Captured.  I really love the colors in this line!  I added in some blue paint for some pop of color against the black, and then added in layers and tidbits here and there.

I really love adding buttons and cord to my pages these days...one of my faves!

I love the tags in this collection...super cute!

I cut this black piece on my Cameo.  I love the way it creates a pattern that the paint shows through.

Here's the sketch...isn't it awesome?

Hop on over to the sketch blog and check out the newest sketch.  Also, check out the new and improved store site!

Have a great day and thanks for visiting my blog :)

Birthday Girl (Echo Park)

Happy Saturday!  Today I'm sharing a page I created for My Scraps and More using the new Here and Now collection from Echo Park.  You know I love bright colors, and this collection is full of them!  They were perfect for this cute picture of my little Pippy on her 2nd Birthday.

I started with some gelatos to create a watercolor-ish background.  I added in some stamps and some washi tape here and there, and then just layered in some papers.  I love digging through my giant tub of washi tapes and pulling out ones that match my papers...I even have an MME tape in here!  I just love the birds on a wire...and I finally had a page that matched them :)

A close-up of the stamping details...

Love this blue color!

The stickers in the collection are fantastic, too :)

You can find this collection in the My Scraps Store right HERE.

Thanks for popping in today...I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

What a Gorgeous Day (My Creative Scrapbook)

Hey, friends!  I'm so glad it's the weekend...have you ever had a week that just completely wore you out?  That was me this week, and I don't really even know why.  I'm just glad we can all catch up on some sleep since it's Friday!  Yay!

Here's another page I created using the July Main Kit from My Creative Scrapbook.  The Simple Stories papers are so perfect for sunny summer photos.  I wanted to make them pop off a dark background, so I based this layout on black cardstock.  I used the chevron mask included in the kit with some modeling paste.  Next, I went over it with blue mist and then used a dab of paint to brighten it up even more.

The Prima flowers included in the kit are a creamy color with brown accents.  I hardly ever use them straight from the package...plus I wanted it to match my blue color.  Here's how I altered it...

I did this with two of the flowers.  I used the yellow on another layout that I shared earlier in the month.  Spraying the flower with water first really helps the drips of color spread easily and quickly.  And since it's wet, you can smush the petals into a more weathered shape.

Check out the My Creative Scrapbook kits HERE...you won't be disappointed!

Great Grans (My Scraps & More Sketches)

Happy Tuesday, friends!  I'm so happy you stopped in today.  This is a layout I created for My Scraps and More Sketches a few weeks ago.  It's based on Sketch #35, and I really like how it turned out.  I wanted to scrap these sweet photos of Paige with her three great grandmas at her 2nd Birthday party a few years ago.  I pulled out these Maggie Holmes papers from Crate Paper.  I really love the pinks and green shades mixed together.  The flowers, the bow and the butterfly make it have a feminine feel to it.  Just the look I was going for :)

I love this LOVE banner, so I decided to string the pieces together.

The chipboard, paper layers and stickers really give it lots of dimension.

I embossed some vellum just because I hadn't done it in a while...haha!  I need to do it more often :)

I hope you'll check out the sketch blog HERE and play along with us...great prizes to win and lots of inspiration for you!

Have a great day!

Challenge Me Happy's FINAL challenge...

Yep, it's true.  Challenge Me Happy is closing its bloggy doors after this challenge.  While I'm very sad about this, I completely understand why Annelie needs to do this.  It takes so much time, effort and energy to keep a challenge blog up and running, and sometimes it just gets to a point to where it's overwhelming.  I will miss this team very much.  There are so many pages I created for CMH that I wouldn't have normally made.  So for that, I'm thankful for Annelie giving me a chance back in November 2011 when I first joined the team.  I can't wait to see what other things she has in store in the scrappy world!

With that said, the final challenge is an ANYTHING GOES challenge.  So that means create whatever kind of page you want, and just post it HERE!  Easy peasy :)  The winner will receive a box of random goodies from all the prizes over the past 2 1/2 years!  I'd say that's worth playing for :)

I created a Valentine page...by using lots of washi tapes and some very old K & Company papers from eons ago.  I have so many paper stacks...and I really need to force myself to use them up!  I also cut some hearts from vellum and added a stamped heart.

I pulled some very old silver heart brads and used them up.

This old heart shaped doily...another piece of my old stash...

What's a Missy page without buttons?!  Haha!

I hope you play along with us for this last challenge...send CMH off with a huge bang!

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  Have a great Sunday!

I Heart Summer (My Creative Scrapbook}

It's the weekend...yay!  It's time to share another page I created using the July Main Kit from My Creative Scrapbook...woo hoo!  It's full of the I Heart Summer collection from Simple Stories, and it's perfect for outdoorsy summer photos.  I knew this picture of my little Reese would coordinate perfectly with these papers.

I layered a lot here...and to throw in some bright sunny yellow, I added in some paint in the background.  I really love that Simple Stories has a lot of title blocks already made for you.  And I really love that they focused on rainbow colors here...my fave!

A close-up of the layers...

I am addicted to buttons!  I pulled these out of my stash.

You can get your hands on one of these kits, as well as some of the other ones available right HERE.  There is A LOT to choose from!

Have a great day, and thank you so much for your visit!

Love Love Love

Hey there, friends!  I'm sharing a page today that I created a few weeks ago for My Scraps and More.  I finally got my hands on some Gelatos...and I can't believe I didn't try them a long time ago!  They are AMAZING and so easy to use.  You just use them like a tube of lipstick...rub them on your paper and then spritz with water and rub it with your finger....and you have an instant water color effect.  I did this on some white cardstock first.  Then I used my Cameo to cut the word LOVE all over another sheet of cardstock.  I used the negatives and placed it over the gelato paper.  I really loved how it turned out!

I used papers and embellishments from Crate Paper's The Pier collection.  Love the little chipboard frames!

I'm a big fan of distressing and crinkling up the sides and corners of patterned paper layers. I also love adding string of some sort...twine, floss, jute, etc.

I cut out one of the tags from one of the patterned paper sheets, added an eyelet and some string.

A little journaling completes the project.

This is one of my favorite pages...I wanted to try something I never had before and it turned out exactly like the idea I had in my head.  That doesn't happen often...haha!

Thanks for taking a peek today, and enjoy your Wednesday!
