Right Now / Hip Kit Club

Happy Tuesday, friends!  I have a new layout to share today for Hip Kit Club.  Look at how gorgeous the 2019 August Hip Kits are!  I am in love with these colors and all these beautiful florals.  The theme for Monday was Fall or Back to School, and I chose Fall.  I live in Florida, so I don't have many typical Fall photos.  This is a picture of Paige on our 4-wheeler in the middle of October, so it is a Fall photo...haha!

I began with some of the Vicki Boutin packaging.  I fussy cut it out, and it created an L shape, which was perfect for a design starter.  I was able to tuck the corner of my photo in the corner of the L.  I used that as my starting point.  I wanted to layer lots of leaves and flowers around it as well as create a cluster in the upper right area.  I actually began this layout with a totally different background, but it turned into a disaster.  (((See the hot mess in action in my video...haha)))

I struggled with my title towards the end, but finally settled on Right Now from the Paige Evans Truly Grateful collection.  I love this deep pink color!  I stacked the words and added in a few of the exclusive stamps from the Color Kit.

I added some color to a few of the Pretty Little Studio white die cuts.  I used two of them here.  I used the Lindy's Stamp Gang Magical Powder in Golden Sleigh Bells from the Color Kit.  I did add gesso to them first.  I layered them in here and then added in a Truly Grateful tree and blue leaf.  I used a few Pretty Little Studio stickers and some orange thread as well.

I love the dimension here from the leaves!  Leaves are easy pieces to create depth because they curl up nicely like this.

On my background, I first added gesso.  I wanted to add some purple behind everything here, so I mixed some of the Lindy's sprays from older kits with some white acrylic paint.  It turned into a big mess, but I still scraped some of the paint onto the background.  It dried way lighter than I was expecting, so it winds up being very subtle.  You can still see it peeking around the edges of everything here.  Once I glued it all down, I machine stitched through the Vicki Boutin packaging here with some pink thread.  I wanted to enhance the L shape.

Here's the cluster over on the right side.  A combo of Truly Grateful flower & leaf die cuts, a tree sticker, a Pretty Little Studio black & white frame and sticker, and some purple thread.

I didn't add any adhesive foam behind the photo, but with all the layers, I still achieved lots of dimension.

More details :)  I added more flowers here as well as a Pocket Life card behind the photo.  I trimmed off the white border on this big flower sticker and then tucked in more leaves and flowers around it.

I am loving how this turned out, even if it was a challenge to get there...haha!  See what I mean in my video :D  I hope you get some ideas from this to try on your next project.

Here's my video:

Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a great day!
