Flamingo / Hip Kit Club

Happy Sunday, everyone!  I'm back with my newest layout for Hip Kit Club using the 2015 June Hip Kits.  Have you ever had a photo that you were so excited to scrap because you knew it was going to match the papers and embellishments just perfectly?  Well this is that picture for me!

Last month, my husband and I took a long weekend trip to Las Vegas.  We've been there several times, and we just love going.  We were riding up the Strip in a taxi one evening and the hotel lights were just coming on.  I snapped this photo of the front of the Flamingo Hotel and Casino as we drove by.  We didn't stay there, but I've always loved the lights and colors of it.  And I just knew all of these fun flamingo accents would be perfect for it, as well as all the colors in the June papers.

I did some mixed media work on my white cardstock first.  I used a mix of the Avery Elle Raspberry ink from the Color Kit and the Bubblegum Pink Dylusions Ink Spray (from February Color Kit) to create the watercolor effect.  I just kept splattering and adding water.  I used a few patterned papers to layer behind my photo and then picked out the Crate Paper flamingo cards to layer to the side.  I used a Project Life card (which I tore) and also used a few strips of the washi tape.

I fussy cut this tag from one of the Project Life cards and added some cord to it.  I love the look of layered tags!  I also added in some turquoise machine stitching for an extra accent of color as well as some of those awesome gold glitter stars.

I layered in one of the Evalicious wood veneer after I used some gold Color Shine on it.  I also used some of the gorgeous pink Begonia cardstock to cut my title.  I wanted to recreate the font of the hotel's name, but I couldn't match it up just right.  So I used this scripty font instead, and I love how it turned out.  I paired it with some of the navy Thickers.  I also splattered some navy and gold Color Shine.

I still had the flamingo pieces left over from last month's (May) kit, so I pulled them out to use.  Isn't this gold one just so pretty?  The "that's so fancy" acetate piece is also from the May kit.  I added a staple and then came back in with the patterned papers I used behind the photo to layer strips down at the bottom.

Flamingos!  These cards are from the June Kit.  I love how they look layered by the photo, and the turquoise stitching really adds some color to the bottom.

This washi tape is just amazing...I love the colors in it! I layered two strips here and stitched over it.  I tore the top off this Project Life card and stitched through it.  That cute chipboard flamingo is from the May Kit.

Here's the process video of this layout being created if you're interested...enjoy!

Thanks for stopping by today, and have a great Sunday!
