Love is Magic / Hip Kit Club

Hello, friends!  I have a new layout to share today for Hip Kit Club.  This is my first page made with the 2020 February Hip Kits.  They are so pretty...full of the Paige Evans Bloom Street collection!  I started this page with one of the Hip Kit exclusive cut files, and I cut it on pink cardstock.  I usually use white, but I thought I'd change it up this time :)

Instead of backing the cut file, I decided to raise the actual cut file up using adhesive foam and place the papers behind it flat on the background.  I love that dimensional effect!  I went with a rainbow color scheme.  I chose papers from the Main Kit, traced the letters and cut them out.  The background is smooth white cardstock, and I covered it with clear gesso first.  I then came in with some of the Lindy's Powders from the Color Kit.  I used Raspberry Lemonade for that nice hot pink color and mixed in a little bit of Oom Pah Pah Pink which has more of a reddish tone.  I finished off the background with some of the Nuvo Mousse from the Color Kit as well as one of the Vicki Boutin stencils.

After I glued down the letters, I machine stitched through them using white thread.  I wanted to give it a bit more texture before adding the cut file.  I cut very thin pieces of adhesive foam to place on the back of the cut file before gluing it down.  Here you can see the lift it creates.

All of the embellishments I used are from the Bloom Street collection as well as the Pinkfresh Studio My Favorite Story collection.  I mixed and matched some die cuts, stickers and puffy stickers here.

Some of the Bloom Street pieces have silver foiling on them...so pretty when it shines in the light.  You can see here how shiny the Nuvo Mousse is!  It's beautiful and it spreads over the stencil very easily.  Also, I touched the edges with a wet brush and it dilutes like watercolor very well.  To add a pop of blue here, I tucked in some tangled thread under the bird.

Here's a good look at the stencil work.  There are three of them in the Color Kit, and they are perfect for adding some fun texture to your background.  I added in more thread above my photos along with more stickers and a few enamel stickers.

I couldn't resist using this beautiful rainbow heart chain sticker...it matched so perfectly, so I placed it below the cut file and added my journaling beneath it.  I did add adhesive foam behind it to pop it up.




I added a small flower and leaf cluster here on top of the photos.  I wanted to break up all the pink, so I went with purple and blue with green leaves.  I actually cut the blue one from a piece of a die cut.
