Adventure / My Mind's Eye

Happy Wednesday, friends!  I'm back today sharing my latest layout for My Mind's Eye.  I'm up this month for our May Challenge, and if you'd like to join in, you can check out the MME Blog and join our Member Forum on Facebook HERE.  The challenge is to incorporate some type of mixed media into your page.  You can use paint, ink sprays, watercolors, etc.

I used acrylic paint and the Happy Camper collection for this.  I pulled the bright blues from the photo and used an old gift card to smudge and smear the paint onto the white cardstock.  I used the Open Letter Alpha Cut File from The Cut Shoppe to create the word ADVENTURE.  I backed only a few of the letters so the paint could shine through the rest of them.  I did a bit of background stitching for some added detail as well.

I love how the paint shows through!  This is a great technique to try if you're limited on patterned paper.  Let the paint do the work :)  I used a few enamel dots here and there, this fun die cut banner piece and that wood veneer arrow.

I added a smaller title here using the alpha stickers.  We were at Loterie Farms in St. Maarten about to hike up a mountain :)  Those hearts are rub-ons, and I added a few die cuts here as well.

Here I layered a rub-on over a label sticker and added that cute wood veneer bird.  He's one of my favorite parts of this page!  Rub-ons go on very easily over acrylic paint, just for the record :)

I just had to use this bear from one of the Journal Cards.  He fit perfectly behind the A.  I did add some blue tangled thread for more color & detail.

I hope you join in this month's challenge.  You could win $20 in MME store credit!  Definitely worth playing for :)

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!
