Happy Hose Time / Hip Kit Club

Happy Sunday, friends!  It's time to share my last layout for Hip Kit Club using the 2015 May Kits.  I really enjoyed putting this one together.  I was very inspired by the extremely talented Irit Landgraf, who is also a design team member.  She is a mixed media genius, and you should definitely check out her blog.

The rainbow colors in my daughters' swimsuit sparked the background in this page as well.  I pulled out all the different inks, paints and sprays we've received in all our Hip Color Kits since February.  As you can see, there are plenty of color combos to create a gorgeous rainbow effect.  I covered up the middle portion of the American Crafts black dot paper with white cardstock and then covered a lot of it with white gesso first.  Then I built all that color, and you can see how I did that in detail in my process video down below.

I used lots of the Dylusions sprays (teal, pink and yellow), Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink, Electric Lime & Lemon Twist Paint Dabbers and Cracked Pistachio Distress Paint. I used the paint dabbers to color this Evalicious wood veneer.  The stamps are from the Project Life kit, and they're Chickaniddy Crafts.

I think this is my favorite shade of blue ever!  I love all of these bright colors together...just so pretty.  The tag under my picture is from the Pink Paislee ephemera pack.  I added in my own cord.

This cute yellow "Happy" card is from the PL Kit.  I added in lots of alphas...from Pebbles, Chickaniddy and some Thickers.  I used the black watercolor pencil from the Prima set from the April Color Kit to trace through one of the American Crafts stencils....I love how that turned out.  I also used some of the stencils with the paint dabbers on the background....you can see that yellow flower up on the top right here.

And one more close-up of the flower stencil.  I just love the fun and random look of this...it's fun combining the packaging technique, the stencils, paint splatters and stamping.  The key is just make sure each color is dry before adding the next.  You don't want to wind up with a dark grey muddy mess.

Here is a look at how I created this page from start to finish.  I hope you enjoy watching!

Thanks so much for stopping by today...have a great day!

I used the Funky Rectangles, Scribbles 3 and Word cut files for my layout.

I used the gorgeous new Crate Paper Poolside collection for this layout.  I used the Funky Rectangle cut file as a stencil.  I enlarged it, cut it out on cardstock and then used a few blue sprays to create the rectangles on the background.  I used a few stencils and distress inks to add a bit more color and then came in with my paper layers.  I used the Scribbles 3 cut file as a layer and the Word cut file as a title element.

I cut this on white cardstock and then used the Worn Lipstick Distress Ink to color it this pretty pinkish-red color.  I love how it looks paired up with these fun title stickers!

I added in some machine stitching, some tangled thread and some fun stickers.  The Scribble cut file is so fun....I could see it being used as a flower as well.

This collection is so pretty...lots of fun colors and embellishments.  My flair buttons are from my stash...they're from October Afternoon.

One more close up of the layering and stitching.  And that's tissue paper under my photo.

If you'd like to see how I put this layout together, here is a process video.  Hope you enjoy!

Today / A Flair For Buttons + a Cut Shoppe WINNER!

Hey there, and Happy Last Day of School!  I'm back to share another layout for A Flair For Buttons using some fabulous flair.  I decided to create a rather clean layout for a change.  I have been itching to use up some of the American Crafts Serendipity collection, and as I was sorting through the papers, this gorgeous pink sheet jumped out at me.  It's so beautiful as a background that I didn't feel the need to muddy it up with any paint or anything.  I fussy cut some flowers and that cute mason jar to surround my photo.  I pulled my two flair buttons from two different sets, and they both coordinate perfectly.

Today

This beautiful green flair matches the green leaves and stems.  I don't have the name of the set it comes from since the shop is temporarily closed.  I've had this one for a while and can't remember the name.  I bunched up some gold thread into a circle and glued the flair on top of it.

Today4

Here's my other flair button.  You can't go wrong with cameras, right?  I layered this one on top of some washi tape and paper strips.  I added in some machine stitching, more circled thread and a few stickers.

 Today5

This aqua blue color is just beautiful to me.  I also threw in a bit of purple since it is included in the collection.  My photo also has purple in it.  I did add a bit of modeling paste to the back...but you almost can't see it.  I scraped it over a lined stencil.  Once it dried almost clear, I decided to not go any further with mixed media.  This just gives the background a bit of texture.

   Today1

Gold Color Shine....be still my heart!  I can't get enough of that stuff!  It adds the perfect touch to just about any layout.

 Today2

One more close-up of the upper left area around the photo.  I had this circle die cut lying on my desk for a while.  I used some gelatos to color it aqua and then added in this white and gold die cut behind it.  I just really love adding layers :)

Today3

One of my flair buttons is from this set...Capture These Moments.

Hard to Scrap Photo Layout / Shimmerz

Happy Wednesday, friends!  I have another layout for the Shimmerz blog to share with you today.  I used lots of yummy Shimmerz products to create it.

This layout is based on the colors of my photo.  Sometimes I convert "hard-to-scrap" photos to black and white.  I really wanted to combine all the pink, green and orange in the picture, so I printed it in color and decided to create my own customized background.  I coated my white cardstock with clear gesso first and then added a bit of water on the page.  I started with different shades of pink Coloringz, Vibez and Spritz.  Once they hit the water, they started blending.  I used my heat tool to dry my paper in between each coat so the colors would layer on top of one another.  Once dry, I used some green and orange products to finish out my color scheme.

I used the Sour Apple Dazzlerz through a small square grid stencil, and it turned out beautifully.  The Hermit the Frog Vibez really complimented the photo, so I splattered a lot of that on top of all those pinks.  I used Coloringz Pretty in Pink and Pink Stiletto, and Spritz Ruby.

Aren't the Dazzlerz so awesome?  I love how easy they are to apply, and the result is amazing.  The orange tone is the Coloringz in Mandarin Mai Tai.

I cut  my title on my Cameo (the font is called Smoothie Shoppe) and paired it with this die cut.  I used the Mandarin Mai Tai and Magenta Shimmerz to back the LOVE piece.  I added green rhinestones from my stash.  I added several strips of washi tape on the left hand side of the page... I love how all the colors coordinate so well.

One more look at all the Shimmery goodness...so bright and gorgeous!  These products can do so many things...even color that chipboard heart and the wood veneer arrow.  And that is white and green tissue paper behind my photo.  I used NO patterned paper at all on this page.

Here's a look at my process if you're interested to see how I created this.  Enjoy!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Happy Happy / Hip Kit Club

Hey there, friends!  I have a bonus Hip Kit Club layout to share for today using the 2015 May Kits.  Last week, I was able to squeeze in two layouts on my blog post.  I have been wanting to use one of Nicole Nowosad's exclusive cut files (available to all members of the Hip Kit forum on Facebook), and I used some of the cardstock in the Cardstock Kit to cut this one.  I traced around it with a black pen and backed the middle "happy" with some of the Chickaniddy wood grain paper.  I used some of the Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink, Electric Lime Paint Dabber and Cracked Pistachio Distress Paint to created all the blues and greens in the background.

It looks like it's floating :)  The beauty of pop dots!  I added some tangled thread here, and you can see some of the stamping I did under the title as well.

Here's a look at the top of the page..lots of fun layers.  Stamping, a piece of washi tape, a Pink Paislee acetate piece, a Project Life card and some awesome chipboard.  I also added in some tissue paper from my stash under my photo.

This green color turned out so pretty!  I love how the stamping looks over it.  The black ink really pops.  And those cute wood grain puffy alpha stickers are the perfect addition in that spot.

I colored the Evalicious wood veneer with some of the inks and adhered it straight to the photo.  The stamps are from Chickaniddy, and I used black archival ink as well as the Mermaid Lagoon.

Thanks so much for taking a look today...enjoy your Tuesday!

Mini-Mower / Hip Kit Club + a Process Video

Happy Sunday, friends!  I'm sharing one of my latest layouts for the Hip Kit Club using the 2015 May Hip Kits.  I have been wanting to use the multi-colored striped paper from American Crafts since I received the kits, and so I used a big piece of it here.  I started with the teal background paper from Pink Paislee Citrus Bliss line.  It matches the AC paper perfectly.  I brought in more pink, yellow and teal with more layers of paper under the photo.  I added a bit of white gesso to the background after I adhered all the layers, and then I used one of the cute AC stencils and some modeling paste.  I wanted it to look subtle, and I love how it turned out.

The PP Citrus Bliss line is full of cute lemons and citrus, and I decided to use one of them on this page.  Since Paige is mowing the concrete (haha) I decided to go with the thought of "When life gives you a mower, you mow...."  That may be a far stretch, but it made sense to my crazy brain :D  I used my Tiny Attacher to staple the acetate piece on the side.

I added some vellum behind my photo strip and added pop dots under it.  That blue ampersand is from Chickaniddy Crafts, and I love the color.  I also love these black Thickers...they add just the right amount of black on the page.

Here's a look at the top of the layout.  More enamel letters, a few puffy stickers from Evalicious, and some Chickaniddy stamps.  I added in some of the AC washi tape, tangled thread and a random die cut I had lying around on my desk.

Here you can see the modeling paste.  I lightly traced around the letters with a silver pen to give them a little bit more definition.  I didn't want them to overpower the page, so it allows them to be seen but not more than other elements on the layout.  Aren't those puffy stickers so cute?  They're from Evalicious.

Those cute triangles are included in the Citrus Bliss ephemera pack...and they're clear acetate.  I created a little banner and then stitched it down.

Here's the process video showing how I created this page from start to finish.  Enjoy!

I hope this inspires you and gives you an idea of what you can create with the 2015 May Kits!  I do have another project for this week coming up tomorrow.

Thanks for watching!  Have a great day!

Our Sweet Family / My Mind's Eye

Happy Friday, scrappy friends!  Today I'm sharing my latest layout for My Mind's Eye.  Have you gotten your hands on any of the new MME cardstock yet?  There are a few different types, including Mini Dots and Canvas as well as some shimmery and smooth.  I used the Mini Dots for my background and some of the Canvas in a few of the pretty blue colors for accents.  I also pulled in some elements from the On Trend collection to document these sweet pictures of my little family.  My mom was attempting to get a good shot of us for our annual family posed photo....and you can see how it went...haha.  But these are real life, and I'd rather have the outtakes like these than the most perfectly posed photo any day.

I started with the white Mini Dots paper and added a bit of Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink to it.  I used the packaging technique and then added some splatters.  I wanted to play off the blues in the photos and add in bits of light green and gold.  The On Trend line is perfect for this...tons of gold and mint in it.  I didn't use much patterned paper at all...just the strip down at the bottom.  The rest is 3x4 Journal Cards, vellum and cardstock.

These adorable sequins are part of the On Trend line, and I made a little banner out of these cute triangles.  I also scattered some of the blue and green smaller round sequins around the page and added some rub-ons.  The gold puffy stickers are from the Niche line.

I didn't add any gesso to my background because I knew I wasn't going to add that much liquid. I would suggest adding gesso if you're going to do a lot because this Mini Dot paper isn't super thick.  But it did well with what I did here.  I love these gold touches from the machine stitching.

The Canvas cardstock did a great job in my Silhouette Cameo...it cut perfectly.  I paired this die cut title with a puffy glitter sticker from the Niche line.  I love the mix together!

Here's the bottom of the page...more delicious cardstock paired some patterned paper, some gold decorative tape, tangled thread and a 3x4 Journal Card.  I just punched the sentiment out and stitched it down.

I love how this turned out...pretty clean and simple to really highlight the sweet pictures.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!
