Flower Girl

Happy Saturday, friends!  It's raining here again today, but that's okay.  I need a lazy, sleep-in, stay in pajamas kind of day.  So far, so good :)

Today I'm sharing a page I made several weeks ago for the 12 Days of Christmas challenges over at My Scraps and More.  It was the very first challenge, and it was based on a sketch.  I've had these darling photos of Paige in front of the azaleas from a few years ago.  They're kind of intimidating because of the bright pinks and oranges.  I haven't had the perfect papers to showcase them yet.  I decided to just create my own background and make it match.

I started with white cardstock and some watercolors.  Just blobbing the brush in random places...no real plan.  Then I started layering in different washi tapes.  I chose several pinks, blues and oranges that matched my picture.  Then I started stamping.  Believe it or not, this is the easiest kind of layout for me to create because it's totally random.  Just paint, stick the tape and stamp.  The messier the better.

After adding the photos, I threw in several bits of floss/thread, a few buttons and my title.

I really like how this turned out...layering my die-cut title over my floss.  Definitely doing this again.

I love layering floss under my photos and papers, too.  It just adds such great dimension and interest.

Paint, tapes, and stamps.  How did I ever survive in the past without washi tape?  And to think that I said I'd never buy any...that I didn't need any....what was I thinking?!  Now it's hard for me to scrap without it!

I hope this has somehow inspired you to get a little messy with your hard-to-scrap photos.  Don't let those colors intimidate you.  Just created your own background with whatever colors you need, and the rest will fall into place.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great weekend!
