Sketchy Thursdays GDT & Sassy Lil' Sketches 1.7

I decided to do the latest Sketchy Thursdays Guest Design Team layout...I just loved the sketch!

Here is my take on it...I used lots of glimmer mist :) I also used a pack of $1 papers from Target! You never know what you may find for a buck :) I used some chipboard hearts as masks and then stitched around them to make them pop a little more. I just had to use "Where's Waldo?" for my title...Paige's little head peeking over the crib railing reminded me of this little person lost in this huge place...I love these pictures!

I can't wait until February 7th! That will be my first Design Team reveal with Sassy Lil' Sketches! I completed the January 7th sketch...it's just so cute! I'm getting into my Christmas 2009 pictures, and I couldn't resist these darling photos of sweet Paige at Papa Gary's strawberry farm.

Here is the sketch:

And here is my layout. I used DCWV papers from this huge Christmas stack I got for 50% off last month, using my Michael's coupon. Once I saw these papers, I had to stick with the red and blue color scheme. I love the papers with the ornaments on them! They make cute embellishments. Here is my "Jolly Baby"...it's what her shirt says :)

Sketchy Thursdays 1.6

Here is my submission for the latest Sketchy Thursdays challenge. I love these pictures of Reese and me from last December...her face just makes me smile! I used Echo Park papers...I hated to cut them because they're so cute!

ScrapFIT #35 and a Cute Lil' Birdie

I completed ScrapFIT's Workout #35...and it was harder than it sounded! The instructions were to create a layout using only scraps (which I have a lot of). It was hard, though...trying to find just the right papers in the right sizes. I managed to do it, and it turned out kind of cute :) It's a picture of Paige from last December, doing her "lip check." She had a cute habit of touching her lips with her fingers, kind of like she was making sure they were still there!

I added some blue stitching...even that was a scrap piece I had in my stash.

These butterflies were cut from a piece of scrap paper, too. I coated them in Glossy Accents and then heated them with my gun, and they curled up when they dried. I love how they look like they're in flight!

Here is another one I threw together. She has on a snowman shirt, and I debated about whether or not to make this one a Christmas page. I decided against it, and went with the jungle/nature theme. I pulled out my new Live Simply cartridge and cut these adorable birds! Aren't they so cute? From there, it became a "birdie" layout...totally unrelated to the snowman shirt. I love the result! I always tend to let the colors in the pictures dictate the papers and colors I use.

A close up of one birdie...

And the other one...

I'm being PUBLISHED!!!

And the good news just keeps on coming!! In my previous post, I shared three of my new layouts. Well, not long after, Scrapstreet Magazine contacted me and asked if I'd be interested in having one of them published in their ezine. Of course I said YES!!!!!!!! I was floored!! I just made two Design Teams, and now, to have a magazine consider my work good enough to be published! WOW!!! I am still picking my jaw up off the floor!!

My layout will be published in the March 1st edition, so I'll be sure to link it up once it's ready. Until then, my layout must remain a secret :)

I'm just over the moon about this....I never dreamed in a million years that I'd have published work!!! This is the most wonderful start to 2011!!

Sassy Lil' Sketches 12.28 sketch & a few more :)

Although my design team duties haven't officially started, I am still scrappin' away! I completed the sketch challenge for 12/28. I loved this sketch, and these cute photos matched it perfectly. I flipped it, though, and I used my new Hoot 'n' Holler Cricut Lite cartridge to make this adorable owl and title! I couldn't resist...it fit the cute pictures of Paige looking so stylish in her hoodie and sweats :)

Here is the sketch:

And here is my layout:

I also did this layout...more of Paige's 10-month photo shoot. I knew I had to use the Create a Critter cartridge to make that cute bunny when I saw the bunnies on her outfit! Perfect match! I had to glimmer mist that ribbon, because of course I had none that matched like I wanted it to. I had a cheap off-white roll from the Dollar Tree, and I love how the color turned out!

And one of my two gorgeous girls sleeping. I just love sleepy baby pictures! I could sit and stare at them all night. I was in a stitching mood, obviously :) I misted the background paper to give it an orange tint, and I really like how it blends with the other papers. I also experimented with Ultra Thick Embossing Powder for the first time. I punched the blue flower from a piece of Cheerios box, inked it, dabbed it onto my embossing ink pad, sprinkled on some of the powder, heated it up, and presto! A cute, glassy looking flower! I added some bling and some leaves, and it sure didn't take long!
