Fave Photo / Shimmerz Education Team

Hey, friends!  Happy Friday...yay!  Today I'm sharing a new layout I created for the Shimmerz Education Team.  I create weekly Shimmez Shortz videos on YouTube every Thursday sharing tips, techniques and ideas for using Shimmerz products.  I also do a lot of Product Spotlights which show what the products look like.  This week's video shows you how you can use a brayer to create a fun background.

I used Coloringz Heidi Ho Blue, Don't Citron Me & Oh Say Can You Sea and Vibez Jeni B Bleu to create the first layers and then came back in with Dazzlerz Jelly Bean Green and Shimmerz Anchors Away to add even more color and sparkle.  I threw a bunch of embellishments I had lying on my desk and created this layout.  I used a few Me & My Big Ideas Project Life cards & stickers, some Thickers, a flair button, a puffy cloud sticker, some enamel hearts and some stamping.  All random goodies from different manufacturers :)

Here you can see how the brayer spread the paint on the cardstock.  You really don't need much ink to do this, either.  I didn't use any gesso or anything to prime my cardstock, and it did not warp at all.  It looks like a lot of ink, but it's not.  I also added some splatters.

I combined some Thickers with some Bella Blvd black alphas here, and I used a fun Michael's $1 stamp to create that fun checklist.  I added some tangled thread and some machine stitching.  That transparent word is from Pinkfresh Studio.  I also added in some washi tape there on the left of the title area.

More washi tape down here, more thread and a MAMBI sticker.  I just love all the green and blue in the background!  I'll definitely be using the brayer again soon.

Here are a few more MAMBI stickers and some stamping.  That big scribble circle die cut has been sitting on my desk for forever...it makes the perfect messy layer.

Here's the Shimmerz Shortz if you'd like to see the brayer in action and how it created this background.

This is the 43rd Shimmerz Shortz video, so make sure you check out all the others to get even more ideas and learn more about all the Shimmerz products!  You can view them on my channel or the Shimmerz TV Channel.

Laugh Happy / Hip Kit Club

Happy Thursday, friends!  I'm back today to share my latest layout for Hip Kit Club.  I'm still using the 2016 May Hip Kits.  I mixed in a lot of Jillibean Soup paper and embellishments with the exclusive pieces designed by Kim Watson.

I cut one of Kim's cut files on this really busy and colorful Jillibean Soup patterned paper.  I added a lot of white gesso around the area to fade away a lot of the busy pattern.  I came in with some pink Shimmerz Vibez to create a solid color around the cut file.  I backed it with another exclusive paper and added a bit of yellow to make it pop a bit more.  I also used a black pen to trace around the edges.  I added lots of exclusive die cuts, and that adorable camera is a Jillibean Soup placemat that I added yellow color to.

I added pop dots to the camera to give it some depth.  I love how these pretty feathers curve around the camera's edge.  I added a few Simple Stories wood veneer feathers as well a few other things...an exclusive flair button, some Bella Blvd chipboard and enamel hearts, exclusive puffy stickers and cut apart phrases and some tangled thread from my stash.

Three cheers for color!  Love all this together...I fussy cut that little "life" piece from the cut apart sheet that Kim designed, and that floral cluster is from the Illustrated Faith Bella Blvd chipboard sheet.

Here's a closer look at the background.  I love how you can still see the pattern through the gesso and ink yet it's still pretty faded and toned down.  I cut this little circle from the cut apart sheet and added a few of the exclusive acrylic triangles.

Here's one more close-up of the bottom area.  I love the shadow created from the pop dots!   This was also the perfect spot for my journaling.

Here's my process video if you'd like to check it out...

Pool Side Fun / The Cut Shoppe

Hey, friends!  I'm back today with a layout for The Cut Shoppe using the gorgeous new Sunny Side Up collection and the Summer Sun & Fun cut file.  Ashley did a fabulous job designing this collection.  It's so perfect for summer photos!

Here is my layout.  I used the phrase "Pool Side" from the cut file, enlarged it, and made it my title.  I had a different design in mind originally, but I love how this turned out.  I backed the cut file with one of the patterned papers and then fussy cut it out.  I used three more patterned papers behind my photos and lots of the ephemera and die cuts to embellish.  I added some pink and coral ink sprays to some modeling paste and used my palette knife to spread it onto my background.

I first wanted to create a diagonal design with my title and photos, but it just didn't look right to me.  So that's why I fussy cut the title out and set everything straight.  I did some machine stitching here and added a cute wood veneer.

I'm so loving the colors in the collection.  They match my pool brick so perfectly...haha!  I love this pink blush color, and it looks so soft and airy on the background.  I also added a few sequins here and there.

Here's the top of the page.  Aren't those cut aparts so cute?  I stitched through them and added some wood veneer hearts.

Here's one more look at the title area.  I punched the yellow piece from patterned paper to create a little sun and added the die cuts over it with some tangled thread.

Here's my process video if you'd like to see how this layout came together.  I hope it inspires you!

Thanks so much for watching, and have a great day!

Summer in December / Claudia VanR Designs

Happy Sunday, friends!  I'm so excited to share this layout with you all today.  Fellow scrapbooker and YouTuber Claudia VanR has been designing her own beautiful digital and printable scrapbook collections for her Etsy store for several months now.  She asked me if I would create a layout using her new summer Hot Right Now collection, and of course I said YES!  It's so beautiful.

Claudia is a natural at coming up with fun designs, and this collection has a TON of pieces.  There are patterned papers, pages of ephemera and die cuts, alphas, enamel dots, and flair.  The cool thing about purchasing a digital collection is you can print is as many times as you want, and you never run out!

Here is a sampling of the collection.  You can find it HERE to purchase it in her Etsy store.

Here is the layout I created.  My photos from Anguilla were perfect for this!  The blues were a match, and I just had to create a beautiful sunny layout to do these photos justice.  I started with some white gesso on my card stock.  I used the pie chart circle paper as a giant sun and stitched through all the rays.  I love how that turned out!  I added a few paper layers behind the photos and added a bit more gesso on top of those.  I came in with some Shimmerz Aqua Huez and Vibez to create the "water splashes" on the background.  If you love the watercolor look but don't like actually getting messy, there are papers in this line that already have that look on them!  Brilliant.

Note:  I did add 3 flair buttons from my stash and some alpha stickers.  The rest is from Hot Right Now.

Is this not the most gorgeous blue color?  I am loving it, and I wanted to make it stand out a bit more so I made sure I added in the pinks and yellows to contrast.  I added in some pink tangled thread as well as some blue around my flair button (from A Flair For Buttons).

Here are a lot of the ephemera.  Now, I  mention this in my process video, but I still haven't learned how to do Print & Cut on my Cameo.....I know!  Terrible.  So I just fussy cut these pieces out the old fashioned way...with my scissors!  As you can see, there are butterflies, frames, flowers, circles...you name it, it's there.  There are SO many pieces to choose from.

This may be my favorite paper.  I love this watercolor circle.  The colors are my favorite, and it made the perfect sun.  I added a few white alphas here to document where we were.

There is a whole sheet of scripty titles, and this one was perfect for this page.  I did add a few Glitz alphas from my stash.  My journaling fit perfectly right here, and I added a little banner piece as well as another flair.

One more close-up of the watercolor.  I'm so glad I had a Shimmerz to match this beautiful blue.  I used some plastic packaging here s well as some splatters.

Here's my process video of how this layout was created.  I hope you enjoy!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Make sure you check out Claudia's YouTube Channel, her Etsy Store, and her Blog!  She's an amazing scrapbooker, and I just love all of her work!

Have a great day!

Love This Cutie / Bella Blvd

It's finally Friday again...yay!  We have four more days of school here...come on June 9th!  Today I wanted to share my newest layout for Bella Blvd.  As a member of the Creative Team, I am one of two video contributors.  This was my first process video for the team, and I had a great time putting this project together.  I pulled out my most favorite Bella collection and got to work.

The majority of the papers I used for this are from the Illustrated Faith She Blooms and Whatever is Lovely collections.  I found a rose cut file from the Silhouette Store and used lots of the patterned papers to back the open spots.  I know you've seen this technique about a million times, but it never gets old!  And the result is always pretty, especially when the colors are this beautiful :)  I used a piece of glimmer orange card stock and added some white gesso to it.  I used some pink and blue Shimmerz sprays to create that watercolor look on the background.

I added pop dots behind the flowers to create some depth, which always makes an impact on a layout.  Here you can see the background work as well.  I added in some tangled thread and some enamel dots for added extra pops of color.

I love this Bella chipboard!  I used some Shimmerz and gelatos to color it blue and then paired it with some Tiny Text alpha stickers to create the title.  I also fussy cut some flowers from the She Blooms paper to layer behind the photos.  That chipboard is also from She Blooms.

Here's a good look at the watercolor on the background.  I love playing with inks and sprays...I just love the look when it dries!  Here are more enamel dots and more fussy cut She Blooms florals.

Here's one more close-up of the die cut and papers.  These truly are all my favorite colors together, and I love how they look with a black & white photo.  The contrast between them makes each one stand out.

Here is my process video showing how I made this layout from start to finish...I hope you enjoy and draw some inspiration from it in some way :)

As always, thank you so much for visiting my blog.  I wish you a very happy weekend!

Love This / Hip Kit Club

Happy Thursday, friends!  I'm back today to share another layout for Hip Kit Club featuring the 2016 May Hip Kits.  This turned out to be one my favorite pages so far, I think!  I used one of Kim Watson's exclusive cut files, enlarged it and titled it diagonally.  I backed the white card stock with the Bella Blvd She Blooms floral paper and then added the cut out "love this" back over it slightly to the left.  It created this awesome shadow effect, and I LOVE how it looks!  I didn't really plan to do that...I just played around and discovered how neat it looks.  Most of what I used here can be found in the Main Kit.

I used some of the Shimmerz Jeni B Bleu Vibez from the Color Kit to give the cut file some color and then embellished with a lot of the exclusive die cuts.

Thank goodness for pop dots!  This is what they can do.  The dimension is such a cool effect with this shadow idea.  I love the colorful paper popping through here.  I added some thread, lots of die cuts and did some machine stitching in yellow.  I love the pops of navy blue in the kits!

I added one of the She Blooms chipboard flowers here.  I fussy cut the white and navy scalloped piece here and paired it with the diagonally striped scallop die cut piece.  The "choose to fly free" piece is from Kim's cut apart sheet.  And these exclusive alphas are amazing!!  They are fabulous quality and they stick very well.

Lots of chipboard going on here...that's a Simple Stories frame from the Embellishment Kit, a Bella chipboard flower and exclusive die cuts.  I love the mix & match of all the colors.

More cute die cuts and a few enamel dots...and more dimension from that title!

Here's my process video if you'd like to check it out...

Thank you so much for stopping in today....have a great Thursday!

Happy / Citrus Twist Kits

I can't believe it's June already!  Wow.  I'm still sharing layouts I created in May...and here is another one I designed for Citrus Twist Kits.  I used the May Main "Beach Glass" Kit and Sprinkles Kit for this.  I used mostly embellishments from the Pink Paislee Fancy Free collection for this.  I kept this page pretty neat and clean with just a bit of the "messy" stuff behind the photo.  Most of these die cuts are acetate, so they need to be on clean white cardstock in order to see their true colors.  I love how this vertical design came out, and all the colors are just so bright and pretty!

I used one piece of patterned paper here in this lime green color.  I added pop dots to this "best ever" banner and added some teal thread under it for an extra pop of color and texture.  I also added some of the Dear Lizzy phrase stickers and used the exclusive stamp set.

I love the pop of blue that my photo gives.  I stapled a die cut right onto the photo and added some Shimmerz (from my stash) around and under the photo.  Those little puffy stickers are from Amy Tangerine and they're in the Sprinkles Kit.

I love these "HAPPY" circles...I'm so glad I finally used them!  Again, these colors are so fun together.

Here are more acetate pieces at the top, more stamping, more ink spray and more tangled thread.

Thanks so much for stopping by today...I hope you have a wonderful and scrappy day!
