Smile / Hip Kit Club

Hello again :)  I'm back today to finally share a new layout for Hip Kit Club.  I was out for the first two weeks of September because of the storm.  This is my first page using the 2017 September Hip Kits, and it was a lot of fun to make!  I began with a few of Jessica's floral cut files.  You can find them on the Hip Kit website under the Downloads tab.

I used some of the papers from the Main Kit and Paper Kit to back the flowers and leaves.  I used the Shimmerz from the Color Kit on the background.  I really love the red shades mixed in with the pinks and corals.  I used some plastic packaging to smoosh the color around and also used the nozzles to create splatters.  I added a bit of aqua spray from my stash to the leaves using a small brush.  I wanted to create some shading, and I like how that turned out.  I layered the floral cut files together and then tucked my photos inside them.

Backing cut files with patterned paper is one of my favorite techniques!  It's always fun to do, and the results are always awesome.  I used lots of the Paige Evans Turn the Page collection for this...the papers, the stickers and die cut ephemera.  I also added in some matching tangled thread from my stash.

It's really easy to create depth and dimension with cut files like this.  Overlapping them creates a really neat effect.  Here you can see the nice shadowing from that.  I used one of the Shimelle glitter Thickers as my title and added in more of the Turn the Page embellishments.  The little pink puffy hearts are from Amy Tangerine.

More lovely layers of these gorgeous flowers!  Jessica did a fabulous job designing this set of cut files.  I really love how the mixed media on the background peeks through the open spots.

Here's the top of the photo area.  I added a few of the cute Shimelle glitter photo corners as well as more thread.  I also added some adhesive foam and tissue paper behind my photo for even more depth and texture.

I used a few of the Turn the Page Chipboard Stickers and Puffy Stickers...I pretty much used whatever florals were in the kit!  That gold scalloped piece under the photo is from the Turn the Page Journaling Spots.

One last close-up...I wrote in my journaling down towards the bottom area and finished everything off with some gold Color Shine :)

I hope this inspires you to go floral on your next project...you'll love these cut files!!  Here's my process video if you'd like to see how I created this.

Thanks so much, and have a great day!
