Home Gather Together / Hip Kit Club

Hey, friends!  I wanted to share my most recent layout for Hip Kit Club.  This will wrap up my projects featuring the 2020 October Hip Kits, which were full of Fall colors and patterns.  For this page, I decided to use some of the patterned papers I hadn't torn into yet.  I used various sized punches to create a lot of circles to start my design.  I like using punches like this because you can get lots of papers on your layout without it being too much.

Once I had the circles & photos arranged, I went to work on the background.  I used thick smooth white cardstock, and I coated it with clear gesso to begin.  I used a few of the Lindy's Gang Magical Powders from the Color Kit to create a pretty orange watercolor area that would show behind the circles and photos.

I really wanted to use this Simple Stories chipboard banner, so I made sure to incorporate that into my design.  I moved it around a few places before deciding to add it to the side here.  I used some of the metallic gold Thickers for my large title, which fit nicely between the photos.  I muted the gold a bit by smudging some white gesso over the letters.  I used more of the Simple Stories stickers and brads around the page as well.

I used these word stickers from the Simple Stories Sticker Book to add a little something on top of the banner.  I did pop the banner up a bit off the page with some adhesive foam.  I love how that creates shadows.
I wanted the circles to have a faded and weathered effect, so I smudged white gesso over them.  I used more Simple Stories stickers here as well as a few smaller gold Thicker words.  The cute brown hearts are the Amy Tangerine paper clips.
I tucked in some burnt orange thread and added even more stickers here and there.  I did add white tissue paper and adhesive foam behind my photos to create some dimension.
I went back and forth about the title area, but I liked how these big letters looked the most.  Plus they matched the message my photos give...being all together at home :)
I used two of the Amy Tangerine paper clips here, which I just tucked behind the photo.  I used this cute "grateful" sticker from Pebbles here above the photo.
Here are a few more photos of all the details :)

I did add some gold splatters at the end using the Jen Hadfield Gold Glitter Spray from last year's Christmas Kits.

I hope this inspires you in some way today.  I had fun putting it together and working with the circles.  They are my go-to shape when I'm on the hunt for an idea.  Be sure to check out my process video for all the details:

Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a great day!

Making Memories / Hip Kit Club

It's Saturday...yay!  Today I'm sharing another layout for Hip Kit Club featuring the 2020 October Hip Kits.  I started this page wanting to use lots of blue, but I wound up adding in several more colors :)  I used a light blue cardstock background, and I cut an exclusive cut file on the same color cardstock for a tone-on-tone effect.  I picked out the blue flower die cuts from Pebbles and started to work on a design.

I covered a lot of the cardstock with white gesso to prep it for some color.  I decided to add a contrasting color to break up the blue.  I used a few of the Lindy's Magical Powders from the Color Kit.  I added lots of layers of color since it tends to lighten up quite a bit when activated on top of the gesso.  I did pull in a few Shimmerz sprays that we received in older Color Kits as well.

I added in lots of flowers and leaves here around the photos.  Some of these are die cuts, some are stickers, some are puffy stickers.  I even fussy cut a few from patterned papers.  You can't go wrong with flowers, right?

I added some blue and gold splatters to finish off the background.  I used a few of the metallic gold house die cuts in a few places and tucked in some colored threads.
I used a Simple Stories puffy sticker as a layer here.  I just wanted a bit of that blue color showing.  Then I added a few of the stickers from the Simple Stories sticker book.
I did a layer a few patterned papers behind the photos as well for small pops of color.
I wanted to separate the photos so I could put the title in between them, but I couldn't figure out what to put the title on to make it stand out.  I decided on adding a tag that I fussy cut from a Simple Stories paper.  It created some white space and would allow the title to be nice and clear.
I always like to add some cord or ribbon to my tags to give them a finished look.

I used some of the shiny gold puffy Thickers for the title, and I love how it fit perfectly here.  I angled it slightly and used the open space around it to tuck in a few more small flowers.

And one more just because :)

Although this didn't turn out to be my most favorite layout I've ever made, I still like how it turned out.  The background was a struggle, but I wound up liking how it looked with everything placed back on top of it.  I hope you at least got an idea or two to try on your next page :)

Together With You / Shimmerz Paints

Happy Friday, friends!  I'm here today with a new layout for Shimmerz Paints featuring lots of yummy colors :)  I began this page with the Remember Floral cut file from Just Nick Studio.  I decided to make a layout "from scratch," which means I start with white cardstock and make the paint the focal point.  I felt like painting, so I grabbed several pinks and oranges and added lots of color behind the flowers.

Colors Used:

I cut the flowers on textured white cardstock.  The background is thick smooth Bazzill Marshmallow cardstock.  I coated it with clear gesso to start.  I lightly traced the flowers in pencil so I'd know where to paint.  I just went for it...mixing all the colors to create lots of lights and darks.  I did use water to lighten up certain areas.  I wanted this to look messy and abstract, and I wanted the colors to run out from the cut file shapes.

Once I had most of the color down, I sorted through some collections and embellishments and pulled out some Cocoa Vanilla Unforgettable goodies.  I used a few flower die cuts in a few places, and I also used a few Tim Holtz floral metal dies to cut a few flower shapes from patterned paper.

I popped up some of the flowers to create some dimension and scattered the smaller ones here and there around the page.  I did not pop the cut file up..it was just too thin, so I glued it flat to the background.
I used some Crate Paper Marigold stickers here for the title.  I went simple with it, and I embellished around it with some messy machine stitching.
I did tuck in some Cocoa Vanilla grey leaf stem die cuts in a few places.
Here you can see how wonderfully these colors blend together.  Shimmerz always give you guaranteed pop of beautiful color.  One note here...you might lose a bit of the shimmer if you dilute these with water.  They're still shimmery, but just a little less because I mixed in the water.
I layered some CVS patterned papers behind the photo as well as some white tissue paper and some adhesive foam.
Here are even more close-ups because I go way overboard...haha :D
I did add some other clear stickers from Crate Paper and Simple Stories.

I hope this inspires you in some way today!  It's fun to start with just white paper and turn into something unique and colorful.  Be sure to check out the process video for this layout over on the Shimmerz YouTube channel!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Feelin' Festive / Pinkfresh Studio

Hello again, friends!  I'm back today to share my newest layout for Pinkfresh Studio.  I was so excited to crack open the new Oh What Fun! collection.  It has so many fun Christmas and holiday goodies in it, and there was so much to choose from.  I decided to go somewhat traditional and use lots of red and green.  I mixed in some dark blue, which I think was the perfect addition.

I used two patterned papers for the background.  I tore a big chunk of the green paper and glued it to the white paper.  I used a lot of white gesso to coat the background...mostly to prep it for watercolors, but also to fade out some of the color and pattern.  I love doing that--especially on Christmas pages.  It gives it that "snowy" look.

I used a mix of the Sapphire and Licorice Liquid Watercolors to create this navy blue color.  I just used a brush to apply it.  I used the Heather Lowercase Dies to create this title...I absolutely love how these letters look!  You get the letter from the cut, but also the outline.  I used the outline here, and it's so cool!  I love how it looks against the blue.  I used textured white cardstock for that.

I spent some time going through all the embellishments...tons of die cuts, puffy stickers, chipboard stickers...you name it.  I chose some cute Christmas trees and a few phrase pieces to add here.  I did pop my photos up with some adhesive foam to give them some dimension off the page.
I created a little cluster down below the title using chipboard, puffy stickers, cardstock stickers, some dark blue thread and my favorite...the Essentials Jewels & Crystals.  They give the perfect sparkle to any project.  I used some red, green and clear pieces here.
I love how this area turned out.  I tucked in a bigger tree die cut to break up the line of photos.  This "magic" die cut was too perfect to not use here.  I tucked in a poinsettia and leaf die cut under it along with some dark blue thread.  And how cute is this string of lights?  Love all of this.
I layered a few stickers and die cuts under the photos to give the hint of color behind them.  Just the little slivers of color make the photos stand out so much more.
More thread and bling here at the top :)  I did add some white acrylic paint splatters around the page.  It's the easiest and quickest way to create "snow."  Even though we live in Florida, I still like to make it snow...haha.
Here are a few more shots of all the details :)

I really love how this turned out!  I hope it gives you some ideas to try on your next page.  If you're looking for an amazing Christmas collection, this is it!

Be sure to check out my process video to see how I created it:
