Love You the Most / Hip Kit Club

Happy Friday, and Happy Valentine's Day!  I have a new layout to share for <3 a="" for="" have="" href="https://www.hipkitclub.net/" i="" layout="" nbsp="" new="" share="" to="">Hip Kit Club today.  I used the 2020 January Hip Kits, and I am still loving them!  My assignment for this week was to focus on the Lucky Us paper.  I also wanted to show how you can create a "cut file" look without actually using one.  I drew all these letters and fussy cut them out.  All you need is a pencil and maybe a ruler :)

I originally started this layout with using only the blue patterned papers and the Lucky Us light pink paper.  I noticed a deep orange Pocket Life card, and I loved the mix of orange with the other colors.  I hand drew the letters and "you" and cut them out.  I sorted through my photos and found this one of me and my husband in the Bahamas...and it matched these colors PERFECTLY.  I literally gasped when I scrolled passed it because it was the exact color scheme I was working with.

I used some of the textured white cardstock from the Cardstock Kit.  I coated a lot of it with clear gesso first and then added lots of bright blue color.  I used a mix of the Lindy's Stamp Gang Magical Powders & Sprays from previous kits.  I wanted a bright bold color that would contrast against the colors in the big title.  I let it all dry and then glued down the letters.  I machine stitched through the letters and a lot down here at the bottom.

Here you can see the cardstock's texture.  I used lots of the orange elements here...some puffy heart stickers as well as some matching thread.  I added some white tissue paper and adhesive foam behind my photo.

I love this big title!  I didn't do a very good job of erasing my pencil lines...haha.  I added in a bit of the darker blue color here with some more thread.  There are so many cute little hearts in the kits this month!

Here you can see the dimension from the YOU...I added foam behind it.  I love how these hearts look tucked in here.  I added a few circle chipboard pieces on the Os.

I couldn't finish this page without adding in a few of the blue Pinkfresh Studio flowers.

I know I say this every time, but I really did love putting this together!  It was fun making these letters without a cutting machine.  I hope it inspires you to give it a try!

She is Pure Sunshine / Paige Evans DT

Hello again, friends!  I'm back with another Bloom Street layout for the Paige Evans Design Team!  Her new collection is too pretty...seriously!  If you like bright colors and springy patterns, then you NEED this!  I created this layout before Creativation last month so Paige could display it in her booth.  I only had the papers, a few stickers and the stamps.  I got creative and used Paige's Sunburst Rays Background cut file and created a mixed media background.

I wanted to use lots of patterns & colors, so I created a large title. I hand drew the letters on Paper 07 and built my design from there. To highlight the idea of “sunshine,” I cut the sun’s rays from Paper 14 and created a soft blue mixed media “sky” background on smooth cardstock.

I first used clear gesso on the background. I used a few blue Shimmerz sprays to create the sky and then used white acrylic paint with a foam dauber to create a few clouds. I adhered the sun cut file and machine stitched through the rays and between them with yellow thread. My sewing machine was acting up, so the stitching isn’t perfect. The Acrylic Stamps contain this adorable little cloud stamp, so I added in a few of those as well. I stamped them on white cardstock and then cut them out and added dimensional foam behind them. Those cute butterflies are from the Layered Butterfly Stickers.

I fussy cut flowers and leaves from Paper 02 and tucked them in and around the photos. I also used a few pieces from the 4-Page Sticker Book. I love using ALL the colors like this!

I arranged all the hand cut letters on the left side of the page and then stitched through them with white thread. Large titles are so fun and they help give you a specific place to add your photos. I love how this turned out.

Whenever I use a lot of different colors like this, I think using one color on the background helps them to all stand out.  I didn't want to use all the colors on the background because I felt like it would have just blended in with the colorful title.  The blue is neutral enough that you can see all the words in the title.

This cut file is wonderful for creating dimension.  It was very simple to curl up the edges here.  And by adding foam behind some of the clouds, you can see here how it brings them to the forefront.

She is the Rainbow / Hip Kit Club

Happy Saturday, lovely friends :)  Here's my newest layout for Hip Kit Club!  I love it so much.  I used the 2020 January Hip Kits to create this fun rainbow design.  The kits are full of the new Pinkfresh Studio My Favorite Story collection, and my theme for last week was "rainbow."  So I fussy cut these rainbows from a patterned paper and arranged them on some beautiful soft blue cardstock.  I'll say it again...I'm obsessed with this month's Cardstock Kit!

After I arranged the rainbows, I lightly glued them down.  I wanted to add mixed media (surprise...haha), so I smudged a lot of white gesso down using my fingers.  I smudged it mostly behind where my photos would go, and I also smudged some over the parts where the rainbows overlapped.  I wound up adding in some matching flower die cuts, puffy heart stickers and tangled thread in a few places.

I wanted to keep this page light and airy, so I splattered some watered down white acrylic paint.  I also machine stitched on each stripe using matching thread and then ruffled up the edges.  I love the texture & dimension this creates!

Behind the photo strip I added some white tissue paper and adhesive foam.  I tucked in some of the Pinkfresh Studio floral die cuts & puffy stickers as well as some of the Crate Paper puffy heart stickers.

Once the gesso dried, I used the Lindy's Magical Powder Plumeria Pink from the Color Kit along with a few other pink shades from past kits.  I just wanted a bit of pink behind the photos.  It's a nice contrasting color against the blue background and all the yellow in the photos.

Clouds!  I love clouds, and I thought they were the perfect addition to the "sky" here.  I just grabbed a used sheet of white cardstock and hand cut these.  I used  my edge distresser tool to rough up the edges and added foam behind them.

I'm so glad I finally used this rainbow paper!  I had been eyeballing it for a few weeks and just hadn't had the right idea for it.  I had a lot of fun putting this together.  I hope it inspires you in some way!

Love You / Pinkfresh Studio February Challenge

Happy Tuesday, friends!  The February Challenge is up over at Pinkfresh Studio, and I have a layout to share based on it :)  The theme is love, and the color scheme fits the new My Favorite Story collection.  I used one of the Fan Freebie Cut Files (available soon) to start my heart design and went from there.

I cut three of the beautiful hearts using three patterned papers.  I arranged them in a vertical line and arranged my photos around them.  I wanted to create a mixed media background, so I used thick white cardstock as my base.  I coated a lot of it with clear gesso first.  I used the Liquid Watercolors...mostly pinks with some reds mixed in.  I added a few yellow and blue splatters as well.  Once that dried, I glued down and machine stitched the hearts.

I used a brush mostly to apply the watercolor.  I also spritzed the color with water and let the colors run and blend together.  I toned down the pink by adding in a bit of red.  I also mixed in some white acrylic paint to soften it up even more.  I used lots of the floral elements from the My Favorite Story collection as well as this cute pennant Puffy Sticker.

I added some white tissue paper and adhesive dimensional foam behind my photos.  These flowers are all from the Die Cuts pack.  Some of them I fussy cut from larger cluster die cuts.  I also added in a few Enamel Dots and even some bling from the Essentials Jewels Mix.

I added more flowers down at the bottom of the page as well as more flowers.  I added a smaller secondary title with a Puffy Sticker.  I also added a chipboard frame beneath this photo.

I went with a small main title up at the top.  I used one of the scripty Puffy Word Stickers and a Chipboard Sticker.  I placed the "Love" sticker on some white cardstock first and then cut it out.  I think this makes it stand out a bit more here.

Paige / Hip Kit Club

It's the weekend...yay!  Here's my newest layout for Hip Kit Club :)  I used the 2020 January Hip Kits, and I am 100% in love with them!  I don't think I have ever loved a Cardstock Kit more than this month's...the colors are just beautiful.  I used Prince Charming as my background here...and it's got this gorgeous sheen to it.  It matches the Pinkfresh Studio My Favorite Story collection perfectly.

I used one of the exclusive cut files for this month as a main design element.  This floral wreath is so pretty.  I backed it with a few of the Pinkfresh Studio papers and added more floral die cuts on top of it.  To jazz up the background, I smudged white gesso behind the cut file.  I love that hazy white it creates.  I used the stencil from the Color Kit with some modeling paste behind the cut file, and I used the Lindy's Gang Magical in Plumeria Pink.  I mixed the powder with some white acrylic paint and used a brush to paint it behind the sides of the photo.

This texture is the coolest!  I especially love how the white looks on this dark blue background.  Mixing the pink powder with the paint created a chalky look.  I splattered some of the Lindy's Starburst Spray in Yellow Rose of Texas, which is from an older Color Kit.

I added some adhesive foam behind the cut file to raise it up off the page, which creates some awesome texture.

I tucked in some matching tangled thread in a few places.  I layered the cut file & a puffy sticker on top of the photo.  Since she was on the right side of the photo, there was extra space on the left for that.

Flowers are wonderful for creating dimension.  The petals are so easy to curl up like this.

I went simple with the title and just used my daughter's name.  It fit perfectly above the photo.
