Happy Halloween / Paige Evans DT

Hey friends! Happy Halloween! I'm here with a fun Halloween layout for the Paige Evans Design Team featuring Paige’s Happy Halloween cut file and her Go the Scenic Route collection. This adorable cut file is part of Paige’s 13 Days of Halloween Cut Files. I cut it on textured white cardstock and then used patterned papers to back the letters. I went with bright colors to match my photos and those papers are Paper 2, Paper 6, Paper 24, and a few from the 12x12 Paper Pad. 

I used Paige’s Star Confetti Stencil on the background, which is also textured white cardstock. I coated it with clear gesso first and then used some black, gray, and dark blue Shimmerz to create a dark and spooky effect. I went over the stencil with modeling paste to create some fun textured stars.

 

 

I really love how this background came out!  It looks like a dark night, which is such a great contrast to all the brighter colors.  I tucked in some orange and yellow thread here at the bottom and layered some Cardstock Stickers and Puffy Stickers.  I punched out some stars using the same papers to scatter around the page as well.

I made sure to leave lots of white space to give the eye a resting place.  It also helps that there is a lot of white space in the photos, too.  Here I layered in few die cuts, and I cut a few small hearts from the 6x8 Paper Pad.

Backing a cut file is quite simple. I love it because you can choose exactly which smaller part of the paper you want to use. After completing all the letters, I added adhesive foam behind it to raise it up off the page. I cut the pumpkin from Paper 24 and popped it up. I added the SMILE detail from the Puffy Phrase Thickers. I didn’t want to add too much more to the actual cut file since I love how it looked as is against the background.

It's so awesome how something as simple as adhesive foam can make such a huge difference. I love the shadowing here.

I used a few punches to add stars around the bottom of the page, which I punched from the same papers used before. I cut these cute hearts from the 6x8 Paper Pad and layered Ephemera Die Cuts behind my photos. I popped the photos up and tucked in a few colors of tangled thread beneath them for added color & texture.

I mixed & matched embellishments here at the bottom to complete the page. I used a Cardstock Sticker, a Puffy Word Sticker, and a Puffy Phrase Thickers. I wanted to bring all the colors down to this area and the punched stars helped with that.

I hope this inspires you in some way today!  I love how this page came together.  I love using nontraditional colors on holiday pages like this.  I still think it looks like a Halloween layout, and I love it.
