Ahoy There, Sailor / My Mind's Eye

It's Friday again....YES!!!  Today I'm sharing my latest layout for My Mind's Eye using the By The Sea collection.  If you have beach photos...boating photos...anything with water involved, this collection is perfect!  I used a few photos from our trip to St. Maarten back in December.  We took a ferry from St. Maarten to Anguilla, and it was amazing!

I wanted to go big for the title, so I used the Open Letter Alpha cut file from The Cut Shoppe.  I welded AHOY together and then used a few papers to back the letters.  I added pop dots to create dimension.  I love the shadow it creates.  I did use gesso and watercolors on the background.  I used Shimmerz Paints in a sand color, some teal and a little bit of navy to bring out the colors in the papers.

Here you can see the pretty watercolors.  I didn't add any red paint since it's so bold, and I already had plenty of red in the papers and my title.  I cut "Sailor" from a patterned paper on my Cameo and added in the shiny silver alphas.  I added some navy tangled thread under the cut file and then added a few embellishments on top.

I just had to make this flair button work.  I love the sentiment, and it added a pop of red over on this side of the page.  I also used a few of the starfish stickers.

This fish is totally upside down...notice his eye...haha.  But he needed to face to the left since he was on the right side of the page.  I added pop dots to him, and I love how it looks!  All the shadowing and depth...it really makes everything just jump out at you.

One more close-up...I stapled these two little die cut banner pieces right onto the photo.  I also did some stitching around the photos for a bit of added detail.

This collection really gets me out of my comfort zone, which I love!  You know I typically go for pinks, yellows and teals, but I love the challenge of using navy and red.  I hope you give this collection a try...it's fabulous!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a wonderful weekend!
