Hey there, friends! Hope everything is going well in your neck of the woods. I'm very happy that our weather is awesome this week...highs in the mid 80s! I love Florida...home of the 2-day Winter...haha :D
Here's one of my latest pages for the My Mind's Eye blog using up some of my stash. This is mostly Chalk Studio 2 papers and embellishments. I wanted to play off the black elements in the collection as well as the gorgeous reds, blues and yellows. Now you're probably wondering what is going on over on the right side of the layout....its kind of splotchy. Well, I decided to get sidetracked with a bottle of black Color Shine in my hand and I went to shake it up AFTER I had loosened the lid. You can guess what happened.....yep! Black ink EVERYWHERE....all over ME, my desk, AND my layout. I just kind of sat there....frozen....with my mouth hanging open.
This was at the end of the layout, so I refused to start over. I covered up most of the mess by adding extra pieces in the circles and die cut areas so you can't see it....but the side was just messed up. I had to just try and edit it as best as possible....and it still doesn't look right. Oh well....you make mistakes and just keep going, right?!
Lesson Learned: ALWAYS check lids on ALL liquid inks BEFORE shaking!!! :D
Okay....so on to the layout. I used a Silhouette circle cut file I've had for a long time and just backed it with patterned papers. I added some white gesso and used some watercolors and gelatos to add some blue smudges. The rest is layers under the photos and a few stickers, rub-ons and a brad.
I did add some stitching through this chipboard frame...they make awesome layering pieces. See some of my splotchy mess there? Ugh......
A shot of the top half of the page...I love layering in stickers. I didn't want to add too much more since the background was full of patterns and color. Too much "stuff" can get distracting sometimes.
I added a heart rub-on from the Jubliee collection....I really love them! They go on so smoothly, and they come in black, white, gold and silver.
One more close up of the die cut and watercolor...I think these colors together are so pretty.
Ever have one of those layouts that you like, but you just can't wait to get it done? Well, this one fits that description. After that mishap with the ink, I was ready to just put it in the stack and be done with it. But it turned out okay....not one of my faves, but it still recorded this memory :)
Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!
I love the dark background Missy, with the different patterned papers behind the circles!! And I have had that same thing happen with the Black Color Shine!!!
