2 Jolly Girls / My Creative Scrapbook

I can't believe that tomorrow is the last day of the year!  It sure has flown right on by.  I wanted to squeeze in my final layout using the December Main Kit from My Creative Scrapbook before we turn the calendar to a new year.

This was pretty easy to throw together.  I added some gesso to the background to mute some of the circles since it's a busy paper.  I layered several patterned papers, some chipboard pieces and a tag behind my photos.  I finished off my photo cluster with some cord and a button.  I usually don't scrap the same picture twice on the same page, but I liked the idea of doing one in color and one in black and white.

I love layers!  Aren't those little candy canes so cute?

These tickets are chipboard.  And I love tags peeking out of places!  And I get to use my Cropodile to add an eyelet :)

This October Afternoon ribbon was fun to play with.  It adds the perfect touch to my little cluster here, along with the cute holly tin pin.

It will be time soon to reveal the January kits, so be sure to get your December ones before they're all gone!  You can check them out HERE.

Thanks for stopping by...have a great Monday!

Think Inside the Box (& a Design Team Call!)

Happy Sunday, friends!  It's going to be a rainy day here...it's already gloomy and wet outside.  But that's okay because we haven't had rain in forever.  We need it!  I honestly like sitting at my scrap desk listening to the rain outside...it's relaxing.

The layout I'm sharing today is one I created using Sketch #59 from My Scraps and More.  There is a new sketch every Friday, and for December's sketches, you have until January 2nd to upload and play along.  I just love how this page turned out...it was perfect for these Elle's Studio papers!  I got them from the My Scraps Store...you should really check it out if you haven't.  Tammi offers some amazing products with great sales, and she ships super quick.  There's a 25% off code (SAVEINDEC13) going on right now!

Even though I only have two daughters, I love to use non-girly colors a lot of times.  Neither one of them are the "princess" type, so any colors will work for pictures of them.  Paige climbed into this diaper box one day, and you know I had to get some photos of it :)

I jazzed up the background with a template, modeling paste and watercolors.  Easy peasy!  The rest is paper layers and bits and pieces.  The left side of the background was already done...I just added a few pieces of washi tape, a few buttons, stamps and floss.  And I love that the journaling space was already there.

I used pop dots for my arrow (cut on my Cameo).  I love the texture of the paste...it really looks cool up close!

I tucked this button partly underneath the photo and added a Tim Holtz word sticker.  I'm kind of addicted to floss these days...

Be sure to check out the other sketches HERE on the blog.  Also, did you know there's a DESIGN TEAM CALL going on right now for the Sketch Blog?  Yep!  If you'd like to know more about it, go HERE.  You have until January 26th to apply.  I hope you do!

Thanks so much for visiting me today...have a good one!

Pinspiration / My Mind's Eye

Happy Friday, friends!  Have you come down from the Christmas craziness yet?  We still have two more family visits this weekend, so we're not finished yet.  I've had a yucky head cold the past few days, but other than that, our vacation has been nice and relaxing.

Today, I'm up on the MME blog sharing a project I made for Pinspiration Friday.  It was my first time taking part in this since joining the team, and I just loved it.  I got to choose a project from the MME Pinterest boards as an inspiration piece.  I chose a gorgeous layout from Suzanna Lee.  You can see her layout on my MME blog post.  I loved that she incorporated so many patterned papers, and I loved her design.

I used a combination of the MME Vintage Christmas and Mistletoe Magic collections to create this page.  It's our family Santa photo from a few years ago...both girls were squirming and crying...typical for us...haha!  I gave up on the perfect posed family photo long ago.  Now it's just a contest to see which year will have the funniest pictures :)

I love layering chipboard with paper.  I added a cute little sticker button here with some cord.

Chipboard, brads, stickers and floss...what a great combo :)

I love these little pre-made banner pieces.  And how about that gold Color Shine?  It has become a favorite of mine lately.

My fellow DT member Tonya also took part in Pinspiration Friday...be sure to check out the blog today!

Thanks for stopping by...have a wonderful day!

Christmas Cuties / GDT for CSI: Case File 103

Hello, friends :)  I can't believe Christmas is over...that was fast!  I hope all of you who celebrate had a wonderful time with family and friends.  Today I wanted to share my final project as a Guest Designer over at CSI.  A huge thank you to Debbi for inviting me to play this month!  I had a great time, and I really enjoyed cracking the case files :)

Here's the most recent one...Case File No. 103.  It's beautiful and festive just for the Christmas holidays :)

I decided to create a background from scratch using watercolors, washi tapes and stamps.  I love doing this because it's easy, fast, random and fun!  You just add layers of everything, and you really can't make a mistake.

For the Evidence, I used birds, stars, circles, horizontal lines, wood and transparent accents.  I like how it turned out...very fun and bright, I think :)

A close up of the bottom half....I used two different fonts of Thickers, and added a few buttons with cord bows.  I just love my border stamps....especially this stitched one.

I added some gold paint to my little wooden bird...I love that he's shiny now :)

I've been on a sequin kick lately...especially on Christmas pages!  The white ones remind me of snow...something we never see down here in Florida.

I've had this Christmas word stamp for years, and I still love it.  And I love Staz On ink...it dries quick and you can stamp on anything and it won't smudge!

Thanks so much for stopping by today....I hope you enjoy the rest of your holidays!

The Perfect Tree / My Creative Scrapbook

Merry Christmas, everyone!  It's Christmas Eve...can you believe it?  Today I'm sharing a festive page that I created using the December Main Kit from My Creative Scrapbook.  It's full of Simple Stories papers, chipboard and stickers.  I simply added some layers behind my two photos and added a few embellishments around the cluster.  My background was pretty easy to make....a template, some modeling paste, some green Color Shine, and a distress ink dabber.  I wanted multiple shades of green since my photos have a few different shades in them, as well as the papers.

Isn't this chipboard light strand so adorable?  It's like a little banner...I love it.  I also added some pop dots behind the little Christmas tree.

The modeling paste creates an amazing texture.

I like the look of white on white...especially for holiday pages because it reminds me of snow.  Not that we ever get any, but still....haha.  This is Florida and yesterday it was 88 degrees!

I love this little wooden tree!  I dabbed some green distress ink on it and then inked the edges with some brown.  Easy alterations!

You can go HERE to see the kit in its entirety and check out all the other kits available.  The design team gallery is right HERE....if you'd like to pull some more inspiration.

I hope you have a joyous Christmas!  Thank you so much for stopping by today :)

Creative Scrappers #258

Hey, friends!  Are you excited that it's reveal day over at Creative Scrappers?  I am...it seems like it has been forever, even though it's only been two weeks!  Here's Sketch #258....isn't awesome?

I stuck to the sketch pretty closely.  I love the grid design and just decided to jazz up a few of the embellishment squares.  I used papers from the No Limits collection from Heidi Swapp.  I love that's not a girly line at all.  Even though I mostly scrap my two daughters, they aren't what I would call the "princess type," so sometimes I like to create a rougher-type page to showcase their comings and goings.  We were about to go for a 4-wheeler ride here...and that's always a dirty situation :)

I'm really loving adding thread to my pages these days...I think I've said this already a few times.  I just like the messiness of it.

Lots of elements going on here...a big button, cord in place of one of the squares behind my journaling spot and an epoxy arrow sticker from Heidi.

Something was missing here, so I just cut a random star from vellum and added a sticker to it.  Vellum is awesome...it adds something without being overpowering.

Be sure to check out all the amazing pages from the Design Team HERE.  So much fun inspiration!

Me & You & some Crate Paper

Happy Saturday, everyone!  Have you ever started creating a page and you thought that it was turning out to be a mess?  And then once you finished it, you just loved everything about it?  This page I'm sharing today is a good example of that.

I created this for today's Saturday Steal Challenge over on the My Scraps and More boards.  I chose a layout by member momtobecca and came up with this.  I used the Flea Market line from Crate Paper, and it is GORGEOUS!  There are so many colors and patterns, and I had black and white photos.  I wasn't sure which papers to use and how I wanted to coordinate them....I was just frustrated at first.  But then it just sort of started coming together.  I think my favorite part is all the shiny gold!  It's hard to see it in photos, but there are gold frames, gold chipboard, gold in the top banner piece, gold in the button under the photos, and I even painted some shiny gold onto my modeling paste in the background!

One of my new favorite things is to add thread to my pages.  I have so much colored floss, and I just simply pull each thread apart and make a pile of it.  I just like the look of it.  I also love layers and textures :)

I cut my title on my Cameo and added some paint to it.  I also outlined part of it with a black pen.

Shiny gold paint!  I picked up a cheap bottle of it at Michael's....it's Martha Stewart and it was on sale!  It paints right on so easily.

This collection has some fabulous ephemera...like this pre-stitched banner piece!  Just adhere it...as is....no muss, no fuss!

I sure hope you hop on over to our boards and join in with our daily challenges.  Lots of fun, lots of inspiration, lots of prizes!

Have a great day!  Thanks so much for stopping by :)

Merry & Bright *My Creative Scrapbook*

Happy Tuesday, friends!  Today I'm sharing my third page created from the December Main Kit from My Creative Scrapbook.  This one is made up of mostly embellishments and strips of patterned paper from Simple Stories.  Some of the embellishments have touches of wintry blue in them, so I decided to pull from those and add blue to my background.  I pulled out my watercolors and used a few shades of blue and even some grey.  I really like how it turned out!

This twine from October Afternoon is so fun...I really like that is goes pretty much anywhere.  I love to make loops and circles with it :)

I added pop dots to this little Christmas tree, and isn't that blue snowflake flair button adorable?

I traced over these chipboard letters, and I love that it's kinda messy and not perfect.

Cute little chipboard snowflakes!  Even though we live in Florida, I still like to live up north vicariously through my scrapbook pages...haha!

Be sure to check out all the available kits from MCS right HERE.

Thanks for giving me a visit today....enjoy your day!

Case File 102 layout for CSI

Hey there, friends!  I'm jumping on the blog today to share the layout I created for Case File 102 at CSI this week.  I'm guest designing there this month!  It's a lot of fun to go through these Case Files and create a page using bits and pieces from the Evidence column :)

Here's the Case File:

I followed the sketch that Debbi provided also.  I love the citrus color scheme here.  I pulled out some random papers I had in my stash.  For the Evidence, I used leaves, birds, gold accents, doodling and circles.  I haven't used actual glitter in forever!  It was fun to add it to my big circles.

I added in lots of stamping, washi tape and water colors.  The rest is just bits and pieces of things I have laying around my scrap room....cord, buttons, wood pieces....even those little canvas dots were left over from a pack of Prima resist borders.

Who doesn't love glitter?!  It's messy, but that's the best part :)

Cord is another favorite of mine.  I picked up that little heart stamp on clearance at  Michael's several months ago...$1.49!

I cut my title on my Cameo and brushed it with some chalk so it wasn't so white.

Come check out what the DT members created from this Case File...so many different interpretations!  I'm so happy to be here this month...thanks again for having me, Debbi!

Have a great day, and thanks for visiting my blog :)

Color Inspiration at My Mind's Eye

It's Friday....yay!  I'm so excited to share the December Color Inspiration Challenge over at My Mind's Eye!  I'm up on the blog with a project today.  Check out this beautiful inspiration image...

As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to dig into the Lost & Found Record It Antique collection.  The colors are perfect for this challenge.  I also pulled in a few pieces from a few other lines as well.  I started with some stamps from the Cut & Paste line, a Crafter's Workshop template and some modeling paste.

This photo pretty much sums up how goofy my husband and I are...always being silly :)  Sometimes those cheesy camera phone photos are the most scrap-worthy ones!  I like the pop of blue in it.

I've been wanting to use this big chipboard "Bliss" piece...isn't that glitter AWESOME?  I totally love being covered in it!  It reminded me of that shimmery table cloth in the Inspiration photo.

This layered sticker reminded me of the woman's dress in the inspiration photo.  And I love the saying, "This is how we roll."  Haha!  I love the mixture of the paste and stamps, too.

You should come join us in this challenge!  You can upload your projects HERE on the MME blog.

Thanks for stopping by...enjoy your Friday!

Fall in Georgia

Hey there, friends!  Happy Thursday :)  Today I'm sharing a page I created a few weeks ago for My Scraps and More.  This was for a Saturday Steal Challenge, where I chose a member's page to lift.  I chose one by member Colette.  She used a gorgeous panoramic photo, which inspired me to use this one.

I was SO excited to scrap this beautiful picture.  I live in Florida and we NEVER have beautiful Fall leaves.  One of my good friends moved to Georgia this past summer, and I was able to go up and visit her last month.  We missed the peak leaf change by about a week, but it was still unbelievable to me!  I took so many pictures...it's just so different from where I live!

I cut all the leaves on my Cameo and then painted them.  I used these cute little wooden leaves from the Crate Paper Acorn Avenue line.

I love how these leaves turned out :)

Another close-up...

I love tearing paper...I love that it never looks perfect.  I love buttons, too....

I recommend scrapping a panoramic photo...this was something different for me, but it was fun!  Give it a try...challenge yourself!

Thanks for stopping by!
