A layout for fun!

Happy Halloween, scrappy friends!  I don't remember the last time I was able to do a layout just for fun.  Not that doing DT projects isn't fun, because it IS!  I just mean I was able to play along with a challenge.  I noticed that Pamela Young has started having sketch challenges on her blog, and when I saw her super fun sketch, I wanted to join in.

I have had the AC Neapolitan collection for a while, and I've only used a little of it.  I have also been wanting to scrap these darling pictures of my little Paige in this cute summer dress.  The papers matched it perfectly :)  Here's what I came up with...

Check out this awesome sketch!

Thanks for checking out my page...I hope you have a very safe & fun Halloween!

My final Artful Delight reveal

Hey there, friends!  Today is a bittersweet day...it's my very last layout as an Artful Delight DT member.  I've had such an amazing six months there.  The kits are just wonderful, and they're always so full of product that I never seem to run out.  I definitely plan to continue to play along with the monthly sketches over there.  I will certainly miss the other DT members, Debbie and Leeanne.  Thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your team!  I truly had a blast.

Here's my page...I used lots of Cosmo Cricket papers for this one.  I also added some texture to an otherwise boring piece of white cardstock.  I pulled out my hexagon mask and modeling paste...I tell you, that stuff is so easy to use!  And just look a the texture it creates!  Then I dabbed on some paint and then held my page up and sprayed it with a water bottle.  It mellows out the color and creates wonderful "drippage"....(haha...nice word, right?!)

Thank you so much for stopping by...I hope you have a great day!!

Some My Scraps layouts...

Hi!  I just realized I have several pages that I haven't shared on my blog yet.  There is always so much fun going on at My Scraps and More that I just forget to post them here.  I am having a fun & relaxing Sunday, so I have some time to upload them here.  I hope you're having a nice weekend, and I hope our scrappy friends in the path of Hurricane Sandy stay safe!

This page features the new Midway collection from October Afternoon.  I was always hesitant to use OA because the patterns have always intimidated me.  But once I saw this line, I decided to dive right in, and I'm so glad I did!  This line was perfect for this picture of me and Reese on the carousel at Legoland.  If you've got pictures from the fair, carnival or theme parks, this line is just the ticket :)

This page was made for a {play} challenge, which was to use stamping on your page.  The arrows & cris-crossed lines are stamped.

Do you recognize this very old & ancient paper line?  It's the Green Stack from DCWV.  Yes, I still have it on my shelf :)  This was made for a challenge to pull out one of the oldest paper stacks you have and use it!  We tend to get enamored with the new lines, and our old ones get pushed to the back.  I saw this line in a while new light once I left it sitting dormant for a few years.  I love the earthy colors & designs!

I made this page for the Trick or Treat Crop that ends today.  The challenge was to use a non-traditional color on a Halloween layout.  This Witch Hazel line from October Afternoon has some blue in it, and I really never think of blue as a spooky color.  I love how it coordinates with the the oranges, greens & black.

Lastly, this page was also part of the Trick or Treat Crop.  It was based on an awesome Kristine Davidson sketch and my favorite candy, M&Ms!  I knew that I wanted to have a lot of bright, multi-colored circles on my page, so I dug out the circle mask & modeling paste.  Then I watered down some paints and sprayed my paper with water.  They dripped beautifully :)  The hardest part was waiting for my paper to dry.

Well, that's enough for now...haha!  Thanks so much for stopping by today.  Don't forget, you can find all of these October Afternoon goodies in the My Scraps store HERE, along with tons of other brands!

Hope you have a great Sunday :)

Miss Pickles :)

Hey there!  Another Tuesday is here, and that means another Artful Delight page.  This is my 4th layout using the October kit, and I've got one more coming next week.  That will be my final layout for the DT...sniff, sniff.  My term is coming to an end, and I'm going to miss it so much.  Okay, I'll deal with that sadness next week.  Onto my page!

I used a lot of the MME The Sweetest Thing papers for this one...and I just love those enamel dots!  They are included in the kit. I fussy cut those cute flowers from one of the Cosmo Cricket papers.  The "perfect" stamp is Prima...it's in the kit, too.  Those little wooden birds & clothespins are also in the kit.  That circle journaling spot is from an Echo Park sheet...I think I've used one of those spots on all of my pages this month.  It just keeps on going...

This is my youngest cutie pie, Paige.  I have no idea where the nickname "Miss Pickles" came from, but it's one of the many names we call her :)

Don't forget that today is the last day to upload a project for the October sketch challenge.  You could win yourself one of these kits!

Have a GREAT day, and thanks for visiting me :)

Trick or Treat @ My Scraps and More

Hey there, scrappy friends!  It's Friday...woo hoo!   I hope you find some time to scrap today.  I wanted to let you know what's happening over at My Scraps and More.  The Trick or Treat Crop started this morning, and it runs through Sunday.  There are seven challenges up today and another seven will go up tomorrow.  Please come join us HERE!  It's lots of fun and the grand prize is awesome!

While I'm here, I'm going to share my latest DT projects featuring the My Mind's Eye's Lost and Found Halloween collection. I really love making Halloween pages.  They're just so fun & festive.  These papers have lots of black and orange, and even though the papers & embellishments ARE for Halloween, you can clearly make pages that aren't Halloween-related at all.  This first page features a picture of my daughter giving me her "Get that camera out of my face right now" face...haha!  I wanted to play off the "poison" and "danger" feel of this, so I added some black paint drips and splatters and some spider web stamps.

These pictures were from the pumpkin patch, and two years ago, my little Paige was terrified of the pumpkins for some reason.  The look on her face says it all...poor kid!  But you know us crazy scrappers...happy or sad, we're going to take a picture of it...haha!

Another page that doesn't show Halloween photos...just some shots of Reese screaming at the top of her lungs for whatever reason.  I liked that the Halloween papers played off the photos & title nicely :)

Finally, I altered this cheap wooden pen & pencil holder.  Or it could hold Halloween candy!  I'm sure you could find lots of uses for it.  I got it at Michael's a few years ago and it was just sitting on my shelf collecting dust.  It needed to be dressed up, and these papers & embellies were a perfect match :)

As always, you can purchase this awesome line at the My Scraps store right HERE.  It's a fun line to work with, and the embellishments are so much fun.

Thank you so much for stopping by today.  Hope to see you at the Crop!

Rockin' Date Night @ Artful Delight

Good Tuesday morning, friends :)   I hope your day has gotten off to a great start.  I'm here today to share my third layout featuring the October Artful Delight kit.  Let's jump right in...

I usually tend to stick to all one manufacturer as much as I can in one layout with my AD kits because there are always several of one brand included.  I mixed it up with this one; I used some Echo Park and some MME together.  At first I wasn't sure how to incorporate them both, but I wound up playing off the bright colors in the top strip of flowers.  I outlined them in black and then went with a black background.  I just layered papers with the matching colors and threw in some black pops here in there, like the journaling spot, arrows & buttons.  I also added our ticket stub since that's where we were in the photo :)

Don't forget about the monthly sketch challenge going on right now.  You could win one of these awesome kits!  Or you could go buy one right now...

Have a GREAT day, and thanks so much for stopping by :)

Challenge Me Happy #32 & ScrapFIT #78

Good Monday morning, scrap friends!  I hope you had a marvelous weekend and are well-rested for another week.  I have two mid-month reveals to share with you today...and I'm going to share them in the same post.  I don't want to post them separately on the same day because I don't want either of them to be overlooked or go unnoticed.

Challenge Me Happy #32 is up, and it's a photo inspiration challenge.  Here's the photo:

I recently got my hands on October Afternoon's Midway collection, and I absolutely adore it.  The circles in this patterned paper instantly reminded me of the hanging lanterns in the photo.

The winner of this challenge will receive a paper pack from Nikki Sivils!  Head on over HERE to upload your project.  Also, you'll want to see what the other DT members created...everyone's take on the photo is so different & unique!

ScrapFIT #78 is a sketch challenge, and the amazingly talented Diana Fisher has outdone herself again. Check it out!

Here's what I came up with.  I knew scrapping the purple in Paige's shirt was going to be difficult, but I searched through my very old stash of papers and found this one...definitely not my typical color choices, but I love how it turned out.  Sometimes those pages that start out "ugly" to you wind up being pretty cool after it's finished :)  The look on Paige's face cracks me up here...like she doesn't believe a word I'm saying to her...haha!  Those raised eyebrows kill me!

Check out the prize...a Low-Cal FITKit!  It's full of fun embellishments.  And as always, if you don't want to wait to win one, you can head over to Paper Issues right now and buy one.  Use the code FITKIT to get 20% off!

Head on over to the blog HERE to check out what the rest of the DT created and to upload your project.

Thanks for stopping by...have a good one!
