I also can't believe it's September! What!? It's already time to reveal the latest challenges from two of my favorite challenge blogs :)
Up first is ScrapFIT...Workout #75 is all about TWINE. Your mission is to use twine on your project...any which way you'd like.
The prize ROCKS! It's a brand new FITKit. The winner of the twine workout will win one for FREE!
It's the Eclectic Slide Kit! Boogie Woogie Woogie :) This kit is filled with papers from Echo Park's Everyday Eclectic line and a ton of unique embellishments that make this kit a true FITKit!
If you love this kit and want one before you can win it, you can go right now and purchase one at the Paper Issues store!
Here is what I created using twine. I always love adding buttons with twine bows to my layouts. This time, I also decided to outline my flowers using twine...something different that looks kinda cool! I also wanted to start with a piece of cardstock that wasn't white. I love this pretty aqua blue color. It goes perfectly with these Crate papers.
You have until September 30th to upload your projects HERE. Don't miss out on your chance to win the FITKit! Be sure to check out what the other DT members created...there is so much diversity! Brilliant projects!
Next up is the first challenge for the month at Challenge Me Happy. This is challenge #29 and the focus of it is SEWING. Stitching by hand or machine sewing...it doesn't matter! Just make sewing prominent on your project.
We have an amazing sponsor for this challenge...C'est Magnifique Kits! This is a US-based company whose kits predominantly feature "hard to find" international papers. You will find papers from Denmark, Poland, France and many other countries. There are also embellishments from Australia, the UK and Poland.
If you're looking for a kit club that's a bit different than the rest, come check it out! The winner of this CMH challenge will win a mini-kit from C'est Magnifique!
Here is what I created for the sewing challenge. I hand stitched some zig zags, my border and I also added my usual twine bows inside my buttons :) I also wanted to try something different here...modeling paste! I have been seeing many of my scrappy friends experiment with this and I finally decided to try it. I LOVE IT! It's so easy and cool...and look at the texture it creates! All you do is get an old credit card and smear some on your page over a stencil or mask, and TA-DA! I added some mist and paint and smudged it all around and that's it. I just think it looks so neat!
This page was a challenge for me because of the colors...red and purple! I don't know why I didn't print these photos in black & white...sigh. However, once I found papers that coordinated, it came together. It truly was a "challenge" in every sense of the word! It's definitely a unique page, but I love how it turned out. Like that painter Bob Ross always used to say, "There are no mistakes...just happy accidents." So true! Often times the pages we start out hating wind up being our favorite!

LOVE that close up photo on the little flip flop sandals!! And I love your use of the twine, outlining the flowers, Missy!! I love that you kept the photos color on your second one and found coordinating papers...it turned out really cute! The modeling paste looks fabulous...didn't you love it??!! It's one of my new favorite techniques!!
