I really loved the sketch at Artful Delight this month! I have been wanting to scrap this amazing picture of my oldest daughter and her grandma from last February. I love the expressions of happiness on their faces!
Here is what I came up with. I used the Echo Park collection Life is Good.
I also really liked the sketch this week at Sketchy Thursdays. I had these cute photos of Paige in her cherry outfit...and I had this so-called "good" idea of making some really big cherries to go in place of the butterfly. Yeah....it looked really good in my head...not so good on paper! I really don't like this AT ALL...it looks cheesy to me and not put together at all. I tried to do some misting, but it didn't show up that well and then it just warped my paper...I tried to use matching embellies, but they looked tacky as well! And then I tried stitching as a cure for it, but it didn't really add anything. All I can say is UGH!! I'm still entering it, though, because at least I did it...even if it's my least favorite layout ever! I hate when a really good idea doesn't turn out that well...
I'll be posting a tutorial tomorrow over at the Sweet Peach Crop Shop on how I make my own glimmer mists! Be sure to check it out :) Thanks for stopping by!
Missy!! This is super cute and I LOVE your cherries! I like how you put 2 smaller pics down in the corner. Great idea!! I just linked up mine right after yours.. .and saw your name so thought I'd stop by! I don't "Love" mine on the left side either... where the butterfly part of the sketch is... but like you I did it so I entered it. :-) Have a great day!!
ReplyDeleteLove the artful delight layout! The brown base works so well with those colors and the picture is awesome! And you are too hard on yourself about the cherry layout! It's adorable!
ReplyDeletei love BOTH pages...I think you're selling yourself short on the second one...maybe some twine on the stems?? it's cute! Maybe tomorrow it will grow on you!!
ReplyDeleteI love these layouts!! Great job of creating a thinner page on the 1st layout!
ReplyDeleteMissy, your LOs are beautiful! I love your paper choices and fab use of the sketches and the beautiful girls in the photos :)
ReplyDeleteI can totally sympathize when making a layout that doesn't quite work like you want it to. I am so glad you still entered it, because I love so much about this layout. Great border strips, love that lil cutie pie in the picture, and very neat ribbon details. And can I say that I really, really love your title work. Really love it. Thanks so much for still linking it up!
ReplyDeletePS: That first page is fabulous, too. :)

I was actually going to say, that cherry is adorable, but to think you call it a "disaster," well, consider it a beautiful disaster then, lol.
