First Reveal at Paper Thrills

Today is the very first Design Team reveal at Paper Thrills! It's a brand new challenge blog, so go check it out! There are lots of great ideas for you.

This challenge is all about using up your leftover alpha stash, whether it be stickers, rub-ons, chipboard...all those random letters just sitting there collecting dust. Find a creative way to use them up!

Here is what I did...I took some old pink alphas and inked them a darker shade and then used them to create my "random" background design. At first I was skeptical, but I LOVE how it turned out! Since these were just some "random moments" photos, I made my background random, and I also used random border punches.

Thanks for looking! Have a great day :)

A few cute ones...

I've been finishing up Paige's 11-month photos. I can't believe she's almost 27 months now! She looks so little in these pictures.

I went simple with this one and just misted a white sheet of cardstock, using a butterfly as a mask. I used several pieces of different patterned paper and cut small squares. That is a great way to make your patterned paper last longer! Just use little bits of it at a time.

For this one, I used this Bo Bunny sketch:

I loved pulling primary rainbow colors from the little multi-colored caterpillar she's playing with.

For my border, I used a number border stamp. I pulled out my crafty paint and used it instead of ink. Love the look of it!!

Thanks for looking! Have a great day!

Springy Mother's Day shadow box

I was browsing Michael's a few weeks ago and stumbled upon this adorable 7 Gypsies shadow box wall hanging. I immediately knew I could make something cute out of it. With Mother's Day approaching, I decided I wanted to make something for myself! I am always so worried about getting gifts made and/or bought, that I forget that I'm a mom, too! So I made this with pictures of my sweet Reese & Paige.

I'm a huge fan of bold & bright colors, so I knew I wanted it to pop. I have an old stack of American Girl papers, and they were perfect for this! I ransacked my embellishment collection and found all sorts of things I forgot I had. I'm really pleased with how this turned out and now I just need a spot to hang it :)

Once Upon a Sketch & "Thrilling" News!

I'm SOOO excited to share that I made the Paper Thrills Design Team! It's a brand new challenge blog that focuses on color palettes, old advertisements and sketches for inspiration. I absolutely loved the inspiration Jill provided for our DT application. You must check it out and see what's in store! Our first reveal will be next Tuesday.

I am sharing a layout I created for the latest Once Upon a Sketch challenge. It's a new challenge blog that centers around journaling. They also provide a sketch that you can interpret any way you'd like.

Here is the sketch. The journaling specifications were to tell about WHY you chose to scrap these particular photos.

And here is what I created. These are special pictures from Paige's 11-month photo session. She is a huge thumbsucker, so this is how I see her a lot of the time. I wanted to document these photos because it is how I'll always remember her! Grinning at me with that left thumb in her mouth :)

Thanks for stopping by! I have more to share with you later in the week :)

A few to share

Here are two layouts I made a few weeks ago as part of my Guest Design spot at Scrap-a-Little. I used two of Helen Croft's beautiful sketches to create these. I had fun playing with them! Check out her blog to see her next guest designer :)

This layout is so girly! I love watching my babies sleep, especially close ups. I love watching Paige suck her thumb and curl her little legs up underneath her. I used some K & Company papers for this.

It was based on this sketch:

This is a layout of Reese and me in the doctor's office...waiting on her pediatrician to come in. I always take the camera, and there is plenty of goof-off time while just sitting and waiting :) I went mist-crazy with this one! I used some old Sassafrass papers that I've been hoarding for a long time. I was intimidated by them at first because of all the crazy patterns, but I finally found the perfect layout to use them on, and I wound up LOVING them! I need more!

Here is the sketch for this one:

ScrapFIT #42 - Back in the Day

The latest workout from ScrapFIT is up this morning! Check it out....

We often seem to concentrate on scrapbooking our current photos, but for this workout we are going to dig out an old photo! Pull out the box under your bed and find a picture of you as a kid (any age)! Its important to scrapbook the past as well as the present! Lets see what look you give this page...will it be a vintage look or how about a retro 80’s look???

I chose to make a comparison page. This is my youngest little girl, Paige, and me around the same age. I always thought she looked like my father-in-law, but here she reminds me of me :)

We are so honored to be sponsored by this month by

Paper Issues -- Cute Chick!

The current challenge at Paper Issues is "Show us Your Grass." It's all about SPRING layouts, cards, projects...you name it! I made a spring layout about my cute little "chick."

I cut this cute little chicky using the Create a Critter cartridge, and his cute little nest, too! I embossed it to give a little bit of texture.

I stamped some curly cues in between my sun rays and added some yellow stickles. I handstitched around the sun and cut out the flowers from patterned paper.

Hop on over to Paper Issues and upload your spring creation today!

Sketchy Thursdays 3.31 & Bubble Wrap

I had some time this weekend to work on a few pages, and I did this one from Sketchy Thursdays. I love bright colors :)

Here is the sketch:

And here is my layout. Reese wasn't too happy about wearing her 100 glasses, can't you tell? Haha! I made her wear them for 5 seconds while I snapped a pic. I misted the background paper, although it's hard to tell in the picture. I used a few different border punches, and I stitched through the pleated yellow paper. Those butterflies were cut from patterned paper...I love them!

I used a bottle lid to stamp these circles everywhere. So easy and cheap!

Another layout I did this weekend. I was in a paint & bubble wrap mood. LOVE how this background turned out. I took my inspiration from the little worm that Paige is holding and decided to make a rainbow background. I couldn't resist scrapping these pictures of her spitting!

Bubble wrap is AWESOME!

I'm so honored to be guest designing at Scrap-A-Little this month with Helen Croft! She creates beautiful sketches and layouts, and she is truly the master at making handmade flowers. You must check out her many tutorials! She provided me with a sketch, and I created two layouts based on it.

ScrapFIT #41 Stop & See the Flowers!

Happy April, everybody! It's the 1st, so that means it's ScrapFIT workout day! Yeah! This workout is all about flowers. Flowers can be made out of paper, ribbon, chipboard, punches, fabric or anything!!!! Create a layout with a wonderful handmade flower (or more) on it made by you!

Here is what I made:

I absolutely LOVE these handmade flowers. They're not hard to make, either. Here is a wonderful tutorial on how to create them...the color combination possibilities are endless! And the look amazing...

These are a bit simpler to make...you just punch 6 circles, lightly spritz 5 of them with water, and then pleat those 5. Spread some quick-dry glue on the sixth circle and adhere the five circles. I like to ink the edges once it's dry. Super duper easy! You can make small ones or large ones...it all just depends on the size of your circles.

Check out the AMAZING prize and sponsor for this month!!! Sweet Peach Crop Shop!! They are an incredible kit club that is celebrating their one year anniversary! Sweet Peach Crop Shop has generously donated 2 of their specialty Anniversary Kits to us this month!

What a kit they're offering our winner...it's packed with awesome scrappy goodness! You do not want to miss a chance to win it!
