Beautiful / Hip Kit Club

Hey there, everyone!  Today I'm sharing my latest layout for Hip Kit Club using the 2015 December Hip Kits.  I decided to use up that big sheet of Heidi Swapp Rub-Ons from the Main Kit for this layout.  I tried to create a fun confetti look...or a starry night type of idea.  Since my daughter is looking upward in the photo, I placed the rub-ons to the right so it looks like she's looking at them.  I used white cardstock and only did a bit of mixed media work behind the photo. 

I used some of the Shimmerz watercolor paints from the Color Kit on two of the Heidi Swapp mistable tags for background layers and added in a Project Life card.  Those cute gold glitter hexagons are from a little notepad that is also Heidi Swapp.  I colored some of the little wood veneer stars with the gold Color Shine from the November Color Kits.

I just love these colors!  It did take me a while to apply all of these, but the result was worth it.  I had been staring at this rub-on sheet all month wondering what I could do with them, and then this idea popped into my head.

I fussy cut this flower from one of the PL cards and then layered this gold glitter Thicker as my title.  I love that you can bend and shape them.  I also added in some shiny gold thread.

The Shimmerz paints are super sparkly and shimmery when they dry...and they coated these tags just perfectly.  Gorgeous colors!  I like how the yellow and pink contrast with the blues in the photo.

I added in a strip of patterned paper at the top of the page and layered in a shiny gold trimmed label.  I also used a few more of the rub-ons here as well as a glitter Thicker heart.  I did echo the mixed media idea here, too, by adding a bit of aqua mist and watercolor.

Just Sayin' / My Mind's Eye

Happy Friday, everyone!  I have a new layout to share for My Mind's Eye combining a few different collections.  We are anxiously awaiting the new lines coming soon, and so I decided to dive into my MME stash and put some different pieces together.  I used a lot of papers from Just Sayin' and My Story.  I used an older frame stamp from the Cut & Paste collection on several different papers and then cut them all out.  I layered them behind the photos to create a fun and unique design.  I added some machine stitching with grey thread to add a bit more detail.

I also used bits and pieces from the Market Street Ashbury Heights line, Necessities and Jubliee Wild Berry.  It was really fun to mix and match everything. 

These fun black and white alpha stickers are from Necessities.  I used my gelatos on the background and on top of the stickers so they would blend in a bit more.  I paired them with some of the alphas from Just Sayin'.  The white cardstock is part of the My Colors Cardstock line in Snowbound Canvas.  

These fun die cuts are from Just Sayin' and the chipboard camera is from My Story.  I fussy cut part of a transparency here as well.  I love creating fun clusters using different tid bits!

I added a few black heart rub-ons from Jubilee Wild Berry and a few enamel hearts from Just Sayin'.  I love how mixed media products look on this cardstock...the texture looks fabulous.

Here's one more close up of the layered stamped frames.  Stamps are such a fun way to get different looks on a layout...you can create embellishments or stamp directly onto the paper.

Moments to Remember / Hip Kit Club

Hey, friends!  Today I'm sharing another layout for the Hip Kit Club using the 2015 December Hip Kits.  I decided to start with a charcoal grey cardstock background and add bright elements to it.  I used white gesso first and then painted on some of the Tickle Me Turquoise Shimmerz.  I love how it turned out!  I did some fussy cutting from some of the Maggie Holmes papers and used those pieces for embellishments as well as some of the chipboard and wood veneer.  I pulled out the Lemon Twist Yellow Paint Dabber from the May Color Kit and used that to create the yellow splatters.

Lots of letters going on here...I combined the big MOMENTS chipboard letters with the silver glitter Thickers.  I also layered the "dream" die cut here, even thought it really doesn't "go" with my title.  I just liked how it looked :)

Here you can see the Shimmerz really well.  The gesso did a great job of coating the cardstock to give the paint a place to go.  Plus, since the gesso is white, it kept the Shimmerz true to its color.  I love all the depth going on here, too.

January Kits + a Layout / Citrus Twist Kits

Hey there, and Happy New Year!  Today I'm sharing my very first post as a Design Team Member for Citrus Twist Kits!  I'm so excited to be here and working with these beautiful kits!  Today I'm sharing a video sharing all the awesome goodies in the January Main "Verona" Kit and the Sprinkles Kit.  I'm also sharing my first layout I created using just the Main Kit.

Here is what is included in the Main Kit and the Sprinkles Kit.  You can also see the layout I created at the end of the video.

Here is a layout I created using only the Main Kit.  I love adding paints and gelatos to my projects, and I used some aqua acrylic paints and a few shades of aqua gelatos to create a fun background.  I used a palette knife to smudge the acrylic paint on and then used a water brush to color on the gelatos.  I did use a bit of white gesso first to create a layer for the paint.

I love the fun summer colors of these papers, and I used a few different sized circle punches to create the circles.  My favorite part of this layout is the fun wood veneer "adventure."

I punched this piece from the Maggie Holmes cut apart sheet and then machine stitched through it.  I used some yellow paint to color that little wood veneer heart.  That is part of the exclusive wood veneer package this month.

Here's another exclusive wood veneer.  I used some pink paint and a pink gelato to give it some color.  You can really see the texture created here from the gesso.  It also serves as a whitening agent and acts as a barrier.  The blue gelato stayed true to its color against the yellow paper because of the gesso.

This piece here is from the exclusive cut apart sheet this month.  The colors are so pretty, and they matched perfectly with my summer page.  I added in some yellow thread from my stash.

This gorgeous sherbet colored paper is a Citrus Twist exclusive this month, and it's gorgeous.  I added a stamped sentiment here (also an CTK exclusive), some machine stitching and a Heidi Swapp puffy arrow sticker.  That cute yellow and white label is from the cut apart sheet.

Finally, here is a look at the Heidi Swapp wood veneer.  I used gelatos, acrylic paint and watercolors to give it this look.  I just love how it turned out!  I paired it with some of the Studio Calico Seven Paper puffy alpha stickers and one of the cut apart sentiments.  Altering wood veneer is so fun!

Laugh & Love / Hip Kit Club

Hello again, friends!  Today I'm sharing another layout I created for the Hip Kit Club featuring the 2015 December Hip Kits.  I began with the Studio Calico Seven Paper background sheet and added some white gesso to the white half.  I used the Tickle Me Turquoise Shimmerz Paint to create a watercolor effect.  I used one of Nicole's cut files (the big heart) and enlarged it to fit almost the entire page.  I backed the open triangles with lots of patterned papers and 3x4 Project Life cards from the kits.  I was in the mood to do some hand stitching, and so I pulled out some aqua and dark pink floss and did just that.  I also did an outline with my machine in black thread.

I created some layering here, including one of the Heidi Swapp mistable tags.  Again, I used the Shimmerz Paint on it.  I just love the texture from the hand stitching, and plus it makes your page look even more hand made.

I love going through all of the papers and cards and choosing which ones to back the cut file with...you can really get a lot of pattern and color by doing this technique.  I added in some of the Crate Paper chipboard pieces as well.

I used the Magenta Shimmez on this Heidi Swapp die cut word and paired it with one of the gold glitter Thickers.  I love combining alphas and stickers for titles!  And who can resist gold glitter?!

Here's one more close-up of the small cluster on the bottom right.  I used one of the flair buttons with one of the Crate Paper die cuts & chipboard pieces.  My journaling fit right in there.  I finished everything off with some gold and black ink splatters.

Christmas Tree Joy / My Mind's Eye

Hey there!  I have another layout for My Mind's Eye to share today.  I used the beautiful Christmas on Market Street collection.  I also used one of my favorite Christmas cut files from The Cut Shoppe.  I enlarged the tree and backed it with the pretty dotted paper.  It reminds me of Christmas lights :)  I used a very subtle cream colored patterned paper as my background, and I coated a lot of it with white gesso.  I used a few different shades of green watercolors to create the watercolor look.  I also added some gold Color Shine.

I just love using watercolors on backgrounds...layering a few different tones really makes it beautiful and it makes it stand out.  I used a few 3x4 Journal Cards as layers behind my photo as well as some tissue paper.  I love using MME brads on my layouts, too, and I paired this one with a few chipboard dots.

I also layered my title using some of the cardstock stickers, foam stickers and a Cameo cut I created.  Gold stitching finished off the tree...I can't resist adding gold thread to Christmas layout!

I added in a few strips of the Decorative Tape under the photo layers and then my journaling under that.

I added more stickers at the top of the page as well as a shiny gold star die cut.  Aaaannnnd more gold thread ;)

I pulled out some of the gold glitter Decorative Tape from the Necessities line to back this open star.  I love how it looks!

I still have so many Christmas photos to scrap...I can't believe it's already over!  It's a good thing we scrappers can scrap whatever we want whenever we want, right? :D

Love Today / The Cut Shoppe

Hey there, friends!  I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!  I can't believe it's already over.  I have a new layout for The Cut Shoppe to share today using the Bits & Baubles and Say Anything cut files.  I wanted to challenge myself to use one of the Christmas cut files on a non-holiday page.  I chose the candy cane heart, and cut it out multiple times on various patterned papers.

 

I used the American Crafts Dear Lizzy Daydreamer collection here, and I love how it turned out.  I overlapped and interlocked all the hearts for the background design.  I used white gesso to coat a lot of the background and then used various spray inks to add pink, aqua and yellow to the paper.  I added in some bits and pieces from the Simple Stories Carpe Diem collection as well as some shiny silver puffy heart stickers from Freckled Fawn.

I just love all of these colors together, and the texture from the gesso creates a really great look.  I added in some grey elements as well.

I used a flair button from A Flair For Buttons...I love the white and grey bokeh hearts surrounded by pink thread.  I used dark grey thread for machine stitching.

These cute stamps are from Elle's Studio.  I layered in a bit of torn striped washi tape on all four sides of the photo and added some pink stitching at the top of the picture.

I cut this "LOVE" piece from the Say Anything file.  I used Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Tinsel to make it metallic silver.  I love how it came out!  I used a small piece of patterned paper to back the little heart.

Here's one more close up of all those hearts weaved together.  I love that this cut file can be used for a non-Christmas project.
