Happy Tuesday, friends! I have a new layout for My Mind's Eye to share with you today. I love mixing older collections with newer ones. I wanted to do a fun travel page, so I pulled out the Jubliee Tangerine collection and paired it with pieces from the newer Hello World line. I started with the black and white chevron patterned paper and coated a lot of it with white gesso. That toned down the pattern a bit. Then I came in with distress inks and gelatos. I used the packaging technique and a few square grid stencils. Next I created some vertical layers on the left side of the design. I think these scribbly circles are my favorite Silhouette cut ever. I've used them lots of times, and I can't get enough of them!
This photo was from last July when my friend Jennifer and I took a little road trip to St. Augustine to see Sara Bareilles in concert. We also did some historical sight seeing, and the Fountain of Youth was on our list. It was really neat seeing all of that history!
My title is a mix of both collections. I cut "Florida" on paper from Jubliee while "History" is from Hello World. These fun embellishments are a mix as well. I love that they both coordinated, and it was fun seeing what matched between the two.
I love these "You are here" tags...those are from Hello World. I added in some yellow stitching for more pops of color. I just love it when those little details really make a difference in the page.
Here you can see the depth that those circles create as well as the tissue paper under my picture. That's a great way to add dimension....just add cheap tissue paper! I also added in a white rub-on from Jubliee, a little car rub-on from Hello World, and a few more bits and pieces. The wood veneer have adhesive on the back, and they are from Hello World.
Here's one last look at the mixed media background...I love the color combo and the different shapes. And I love the messy factor!

Happy Sunday, friends! I'm so excited to share my very first Hip Kit Club layout using the 2015 June Hip Kits! I know I say this about the kits each month, but this one is GORGEOUS! It's full of Fancy Pants, Simple Stories and Pink Paislee, Crate Paper and the color combos are just so pretty. And the Project Life cards are exclusive this month...designed by the extremely talented Kim Watson. I used two of them on my page.

Okay, now on to my layout :) I started with a sheet of white cardstock (from the Cardstock Kit), the Shimelle sunburst stamp and the Avery Elle ink pads that come in the Color Kit. I used the Daisy ink to stamp around the page, and then I got adventurous and tried smooshing both paint colors onto plastic packaging. It didn't work as well as some other inks....these are pigment inks and really are made for stamping. However, it did work a little bit, but I covered a lot of it up. I like the way the yellow is peeking out from behind everything.
This adorable sun is from one of the Project Life cards. I cut it out and used it as an embellishment and then added a Simple Stories stick wood button to it. You can also see the background a bit better...I like how that turned out in the end.
There are a lot of Fancy Pants tags in the kits...and they all have string attached to the ends already! I used a lot of them on this page as well as some of the frames that come in the ephemera pack.
There are several elements from the Crate Paper Poolside collection, like these frames and an entire sticker sheet. Don't these colors just look so gorgeous together? I added in a bit of orange stitching.
Here's a look at the title area. I combined another PL card with one of the Crate Paper stickers and Thicker words. I colored one of the Evalicious wood veneer pieces and added in more of the Fancy Pants tags. And those Elle's Studio alpha (numbers) stickers were the perfect match.

It's Friday....yay! I'm so excited to share my latest Shimmerz layout with you all! I had an idea I wanted to try, and it turned out way better than I thought it would. I love when that happens!
I use my Silhouette Cameo quite a bit, and I love creating backgrounds with it. I used this fun triangle cut file from The Cut Shoppe (it's called The Totally Triangles background) and cut it on plain white cardstock. Before I pulled it off the sticky mat, I used a ton of Shimmerz products to color it. Yes, I did mixed media work right on the mat, and it didn't affect it one bit! I wound up with this beautiful rainbow effect die cut. And again, I started with a colorful "hard-to-scrap" photo, and I used random papers and bits from my stash.
Look at all this yummy color! I used Dazzlerz, Coloringz, Vibez, Spritz, Shimmerz, Texturez and Inklingz all over this background. I used my finger and a paint brush. It was like finger painting mostly :) I used a small square grid stencil on the background in a few spots and sprayed a few colors here and there.
I love how black pops against all these gorgeous colors. For the first time in a LONG TIME, I took a piece of chipboard and colored it with Texturez Brick Wall and Dazzlerz Pucker Up Pink. I think this butterfly has been in my stash for about seven years! Wow! My alphas are all from American Crafts.
I added in some tangled thread amongst my random paper layers and a few American Crafts embellishments. I also added some Before Dawn Vibez splatters on the background.
I added in a bit of machine stitching and a few Crate Paper rub-ons that were sitting on my desk. They went on nicely even over the texture of the die cut. I used a few cute circle stamps and cut them out to add in a few more embellishments here and there.
One more close-up just because of the gorgeous color :) That beautiful blue color on the background is a mix of Jeni B Bleu Vibez and Heidi Ho Blue Coloringz...two of my all-time favorite Shimmerz colors! And there are a few strips of washi tape there, too.
I'm so glad I recorded this layout being created...I am really pleased with how the die cut turned out. I hope you enjoy watching!

Hey there! I'm back to share a Chickaniddy Crafts layout with you today. Have you had a chance to create with the beautiful new Yippee collection yet? It's full of fun Spring colors and patterns. I knew right away this photo would be perfect with these papers. The blues and oranges really compliment each other.
Here's how I made this fun layout:
1. I knew I wanted to start with this beautiful wood grain paper as my background. It's called Picnic Party. I chose a few patterned papers and cut them into various sized strips and adhered them to the background. I added some white gesso over them and some modeling paste through a lined stencil. I then came in with some gelatos to give a watercolor effect.
2. After my mixed media was dry, I adhered my photo and layers behind it. I added machine stitching and then chose which embellishments I wanted to add in. I used several of the enamel shapes and even fussy cut some pieces from patterned papers.
Aren't these enamel words and shapes so fun and cute?
3. I added in some tangled thread in various parts of the layout for more interest and texture and some ink splatters.
Here's one more look at some of the fun embellishments and stitching. I just love all of these fun colors together!

Hey there, and Happy Wednesday! I hope you're having a wonderful Summer so far! Today I'm sharing two layouts for The Cut Shoppe, and I'm super excited about our fun Team Up with Scrapbook Circle this week! I created these two layouts using the "Have a Little Fun Today" June Kit. It's full of gorgeous colors and patterns and fun travel elements.
I first scrapped a photo of me and two of my friends in Las Vegas. I used three cut files: A To The Z Alphas, Etc Etc Etc and Hip 2 B Square.
I used one as a background element, one as part of my title and the third as a large tag embellishment. These cut files were perfect for my page and for this awesome kit!
I backed this awesome tag cut file with some of the Authentique patterned paper and added in a cute flair button from the kit. I added some light brown ink to the tag because I cut it in white cardstock a few weeks ago...and I cut the background file especially for this page on cream colored cardstock. So I had to make the tag match up...so ink came to my rescue :)
I really love these alphas...and I used a fun technique (one I had never tried before) to customize the color. You can see how I did that in my process video below. These cork stickers are awesome, and I loved how they look paired up with the cut file.

And here's the second page I created. I wanted to focus on the embellishments, so I pulled out some white cardstock from my stash. I used two more travel photos for this one. I really wanted to use that awesome airplane, so that is what inspired this page.
I used two cut files...the Here There Everywhere and Write This Down. I didn't use any patterned paper, but I did add some fun inking to the background.
I just love this airplane! I backed some white cardstock behind it so its colors wouldn't be dulled by the paint in the background. I also used pop dots to raise it up. I love how it sort of helps to frame my cut file title.
I used some gelatos to give my other cut file some color. All of these embellishments are in the June Kit, and they look cut matched up with any color scheme.

Hey there, friends! I wanted to hop on today and share the last projects I created for the May 2015 issue of CREATE Magazine. I created this for the Sketch section of the magazine, and the layout I created just screams SUMMER...can you tell? :D
Summer pool pictures are my favorite kind to scrap because they include my favorite things...happy and bright photos and super bright colors! I started by coating the white cardstock with gesso. I came in with some blue watercolor and created some "water splashes" to echo the water from the pool photos. I used some American Crafts, Simple Stories, October Afternoon and A Flair For Buttons products on this.
I love these little word banner strips! There a ton of different ones in the Silhouette store. I cut them on white cardstock and then used gelatos to color them. I added some machine stitching as well as some tangled thread. I also used a lot of pop dots to raise everything up.
Here you can see the pretty watercolor on the background and a lot of the layering. Isn't that flair button just adorable? I love tucking them into the paper layers so they peek out.
This sunburst started out on white cardstock. It's a stencil, and I used Mustard Seed Distress Ink and a blending tool to color it. Then I decided to fussy cut it and use it as a separate embellishment. I'm glad I did because I love the texture and dimension it gives cut out! I stitched through several of the rays and added my title on top of it.
I also made a fun card for this issue using the Stitched collection from American Crafts. This card was also made from the card sketch.
And finally, the tag I created from a sketch as well. More American Crafts...the Serendipity collection.

Happy Sunday, friends! It's time to share my last layout for Hip Kit Club using the 2015 May Kits. I really enjoyed putting this one together. I was very inspired by the extremely talented Irit Landgraf, who is also a design team member. She is a mixed media genius, and you should definitely check out her blog.
The rainbow colors in my daughters' swimsuit sparked the background in this page as well. I pulled out all the different inks, paints and sprays we've received in all our Hip Color Kits since February. As you can see, there are plenty of color combos to create a gorgeous rainbow effect. I covered up the middle portion of the American Crafts black dot paper with white cardstock and then covered a lot of it with white gesso first. Then I built all that color, and you can see how I did that in detail in my process video down below.
I used lots of the Dylusions sprays (teal, pink and yellow), Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink, Electric Lime & Lemon Twist Paint Dabbers and Cracked Pistachio Distress Paint. I used the paint dabbers to color this Evalicious wood veneer. The stamps are from the Project Life kit, and they're Chickaniddy Crafts.
I think this is my favorite shade of blue ever! I love all of these bright colors together...just so pretty. The tag under my picture is from the Pink Paislee ephemera pack. I added in my own cord.
This cute yellow "Happy" card is from the PL Kit. I added in lots of alphas...from Pebbles, Chickaniddy and some Thickers. I used the black watercolor pencil from the Prima set from the April Color Kit to trace through one of the American Crafts stencils....I love how that turned out. I also used some of the stencils with the paint dabbers on the background....you can see that yellow flower up on the top right here.
And one more close-up of the flower stencil. I just love the fun and random look of this...it's fun combining the packaging technique, the stencils, paint splatters and stamping. The key is just make sure each color is dry before adding the next. You don't want to wind up with a dark grey muddy mess.
