Here's what I came up with...I used the gorgeous new Sugar Chic line from Heidi Swapp.  I picked this up at Michael's, and I'm SO glad I did.  The colors are so bold, and the patterns are so fun to work with.  Lots of chevrons & stripes!  I used some gesso to soften the edges around my two clusters.  I think it gives it some depth, too.  I added a few flowers, buttons & washi tape here and there.

Remember that in order to be considered for the prize, you must create a NEW layout for this challenge only.  You have until midnight May 1st to join in!  Now, head on over to the CMH blog HERE and check out the sketch & pages by the team members!

Have a great day, friends!

My Creative Scrapbook - Day at the Park

Hey there, friends!  I hope you're having a great Saturday wherever you are.  It's hot & steamy here in Florida...it feels like Summer out there already!  I wanted to hop on today and share my third page using the April Main Kit from My Creative Scrapbook.  It's full of Crate Paper's Maggie Holmes...such gorgeous papers!

For this page, I wanted to focus on the pinks & greens and really make it a girly-type page.  I love the big felt flower and the feminine lace & ribbon.  They add the perfect touch, I think.  I watered down some green paint and added some color to the middle sheet of  patterned paper.

Here's the April Main Kit...amazing!

You can go HERE to check out this kit as well as the other three that MCS offers. Go HERE to check out the blog...so many pieces of inspiration from the design team!

Have a great day, and thanks for taking a peek today!

My first page for Love My Tapes!

Hello there and happy Friday!  I'm so excited to share with you guys my very first page for the Love My Tapes blog!  I'll be posting over there the 2nd and 4th Friday each month.  You should hop over there and check out what the other girls have created this week!

Alrighty...onto my page for today!  I created this layout using only one piece of plain white cardstock and one piece of patterned paper.  The rest is washi tape & lace tape.  I pulled out several patterns of black & teal tapes and just started layering them down as a background.  I love this technique because it's fast, there isn't a lot of cutting involved, and you can really mix up your tapes.  Mist up the background, or drip some paint, and your plain white cardstock is plain no more.

My sweet Reesie Cup was riding on her Daddy's shoulders here, and her hair was extra poofy for some reason.  It made me laugh because it reminds me of those big hairdos of all the Miss America contestants...haha!

The LMT lace tape is so cool and easy to use.  Just snip off however much you want to use, peel off the backing and stick it down!

I love that the washi tapes are so versatile...I used a small piece as an accent here.

I hope you'll give the washi tape background technique a try!  I'm so happy to be on this amazing team...I know you'll love what everyone creates and shares here with you.

Have a wonderful day!

A few My Scraps pages...

Hey there, everyone!  I'm here to share two recent pages I created for My Scraps and More.  I'm so in love with this first page...it turned out exactly like I had it in my head!  It's for today's {Stash}challenge over on the boards, and the challenge is to use STAMPS on your layout.  I knew I wanted to use paint for my background, so I used a foam brush this time.  I love how it easily makes big messy stripes.  From there, I added different washi tapes and then I went stamp crazy.  I cut my title on my Cameo.  These kinds of layouts are really fast & easy because you just sling some paint down, stick on some tape, and then stamp in random spots.  Super easy!

This page was up on the blog on Saturday, and it features the new Maggie Holmes line from Crate Paper.  This is one of my favorite lines to date...it's just amazing!  I used a sketch from the October Afternoon blog.  I wanted to use so many of the patterned papers...they are all so beautiful.  I love the film strip washi tape...it looks good on any layout!  I wanted to create a shadow, so I used some black chalk and just smudged it with a eye shadow brush.

I hope you're inspired by something you see here to create something beautiful!  Thanks so much for stopping by...have a wonderful day!

My Creative Scrapbook Design Team!

Hi there, scrappy friends!  I'm so excited to share the news that I will be joining the amazingly talented Design Team at My Creative Scrapbook!!  I was a GDT last month, and I was over the moon when Pam and Delaina asked me to join the team!  The ladies over there create some stunning designs, and I'm very honored to be a part of their group.

April's kits are AMAZING...truly!  I was sent the Main Kit, and it was chock full of Crate Paper Maggie Holmes.  This has to be one of my most favorite lines EVER to date.  Here's the kit:

Here are two of the five pages I created...yes...5! And I still have product left over! As soon as I saw this background paper, I knew I had to use it immediately.  I worked my design so the beautiful pinks would show through.  I wanted to add some pink paint splatters, but not too much.  I love that the papers match so well with this photo...the darks & the pinks.  I added lots of yellow pieces to throw in some lighter contrast.  The bits & pieces that come in this kit are so fun...and there are so many!  The only thing not included in the kit is the twine, and I also used my Cameo to cut my title.

This page was actually the last one I made with the kit.  I love this photo of our shoes...and whenever I look at it, it reminds me that my husband is so outnumbered by us girls :)  I love the little feet...four more little feet in our family.  I love this wooden plank background paper.  I pulled out a circle mask and used some modeling paste to add some texture.  I also used some ink chalks to add a little pink tint.  I just LOVE those burlap bows from Dear Lizzy...super cute!

I'll be sharing my other pages throughout the month. Two of them have tutorials that go with them.  You can go HERE to see all the kits available...there are FOUR different ones EVERY month!  Check out the MCS Blog HERE, and go HERE to see the amazing DT gallery!

I'm SO excited to be a part of this team...thank you so much for stopping in for a peek today!

My Scraps Sketch #23

Happy Friday, friends!  I have a page to share today...it's based on Sketch #23 over on the My Scraps Sketch blog.  I flipped it on its side.  I still have so much of Crate Paper's Fourteen collection, so I pulled it out and went to work.  I cut the banner from a sheet of patterned paper and used pop dots to give it some dimension.  Those yellow Thickers were some of my favorites, and I am almost out!  I had to make the "e."  I layered lots of paper & added four different patterns of washi tape.  I've been stamping a lot lately on all of my pages...I highly recommend it!  It gives that extra little something.

Go HERE to see this week's sketch!  Go HERE to visit the My Scraps store!

Thanks for stopping by...I hope you have a glorious weekend!

Challenge Me Happy #43

Hi, friends!  I've been so busy today that I am just now having a few minutes to sit down and post the newest challenge over at Challenge Me Happy.  I cannot believe it's April...that just doesn't seem possible or real.  Sheesh!  Nevertheless, the new month means a new challenge, and this one is awesome.  It's a color palette...check it out:

Here's what I came up with...no patterned paper at all!  A lot of paint, a lot of washi tape, a lot of stamping and some buttons.  I'm loving this technique lately.  It's messy, fun & fast!  And you can customize the colors you want without having to restrict yourself to a certain paper line.

The winner of this challenge will receive a $30 gift certificate to Paper Vine!  GREAT prize!!
