Quiet Time / My Creative Scrapbook

Hello there, scrappy friends!  I hope you had a great weekend.  It was such a nice weather weekend here.  We even got a little bit of rain, which we needed.  The temps are going to drop again as the week progresses...back to highs in the 50s later on!  Today the high is 81.  Florida is so fickle!  Seriously, if you wait five minutes, the weather will change...haha.

Today I'm sharing another page I created with the January Creative Kit from My Creative Scrapbook.  I was thrilled to see it full of Simple Stories again...I just love everything they come out with.  This is the Daily Grind collection.

One of the patterned papers has a bunch of these cute little circles on it...some have sayings and some are just patterns.  I cut several of them out and used them as embellishments.

I used this thread/floss from my stash to throw in a little extra brown.

These chipboard banner pieces are sooooo fun!  I love the "every day of the week" theme in this line...perfect for those every day photos.

You can go HERE to see all the kits available for January.  I promise you'll love this one if you're into bright colors, fun patterns and cute little embellishments!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Flower Girl

Happy Saturday, friends!  It's raining here again today, but that's okay.  I need a lazy, sleep-in, stay in pajamas kind of day.  So far, so good :)

Today I'm sharing a page I made several weeks ago for the 12 Days of Christmas challenges over at My Scraps and More.  It was the very first challenge, and it was based on a sketch.  I've had these darling photos of Paige in front of the azaleas from a few years ago.  They're kind of intimidating because of the bright pinks and oranges.  I haven't had the perfect papers to showcase them yet.  I decided to just create my own background and make it match.

I started with white cardstock and some watercolors.  Just blobbing the brush in random places...no real plan.  Then I started layering in different washi tapes.  I chose several pinks, blues and oranges that matched my picture.  Then I started stamping.  Believe it or not, this is the easiest kind of layout for me to create because it's totally random.  Just paint, stick the tape and stamp.  The messier the better.

After adding the photos, I threw in several bits of floss/thread, a few buttons and my title.

I really like how this turned out...layering my die-cut title over my floss.  Definitely doing this again.

I love layering floss under my photos and papers, too.  It just adds such great dimension and interest.

Paint, tapes, and stamps.  How did I ever survive in the past without washi tape?  And to think that I said I'd never buy any...that I didn't need any....what was I thinking?!  Now it's hard for me to scrap without it!

I hope this has somehow inspired you to get a little messy with your hard-to-scrap photos.  Don't let those colors intimidate you.  Just created your own background with whatever colors you need, and the rest will fall into place.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great weekend!

A Pebbles Layout & some My Scraps News!

Happy Thursday, friends!  The cold seems to have left us here in Florida, and now it's just gloomy and rainy.  It's in the 60s right now, so it could be a lot worse.  Dropping kids off at school in the rain is not a fun way to start the day.  But I know so many of you are dealing with snow...something I can't even fathom.  My thoughts are with you!

This is a page I created a few weeks back for My Scraps and More.  I used the adorable Pebbles line "From Me to You."  I did something new on this layout.  I used a random piece of cardstock that I had created for a different project that didn't work out.  I designed the piece on the left a while back for something else...trying to create a rainbow.  I liked it, but it just didn't work for that particular layout at the time.  I kept it, thinking I'd use it somehow.  I had no idea how perfect it would match these Pebbles colors!  I had to throw it into this page somehow.  I didn't want to cover it up, either...because I love how it looks.  So I made it a big design element on this page.

I love all the matching chipboard pieces, epoxy stickers and fun papers!  I added in a bit of floss here.

These cute little word tiles were something I picked up at Michael's several weeks ago.  They were in the jewelry department and I thought they'd be cute on a layout.  I was right :)

Stickers and buttons...love mixing them!

Yeah, so I got lazy with my vellum and you can totally see my adhesive through the hearts.  Honestly, it doesn't bother me.  I like that it doesn't look perfect.

And a close up of my accidental favorite part :)  I spread the modeling paste over the template and then sprayed various colors of Color Shine while the template was still on the paper and the paste was still wet.  Then I let it dry.  Pretty cool effect.

And now on to the My Scraps News.....

I don't know if you heard, but there are some changes happening over at My Scraps and More!  Our current owner, Tammi Bennett, and her husband are retiring.  She's turning the store over to my good scrappy friend and fellow DT member Audrey Yeager starting February1st!  Tammi and Audrey are essentially switching places.  Tammi will now be a DT member while Audrey runs the store and forum.  I wish them both luck...they're both awesome.  I'm so lucky and excited to be a member of this team!  Stay tuned for a big sale coming to the store on February 1st!

Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy your day, friends!

My Creative Scrapbook January Kits!

***Go HERE for the My Scraps Ring in the New Year
BLOG HOP!***

Hello there, scrappy friends!  I hope you're staying warm on this frigid Tuesday.  It's 36 here this morning in Florida.  I know most of my scrappy friends are way north of me, so that probably sounds pretty warm to you.  But to us warm folk, it's FA-REEZING!!  You'd think a blizzard was coming the way we act...haha.  Either way, the heater is running, the kids are bundled up, and I'm sitting here blogging in my pink monkey socks :)

I'm so excited that it's time for the January Kits reveal at My Creative Scrapbook!  I usually work with the Main Kit, but Pam surprised me this month and sent me the Creative Kit.  I'm SO glad she did because it's full of my favorite things -- bright colors and patterns!  And it's Simple Stories Daily Grind...mixed with some Prima flowers and Studio Calico wooden word bubbles!  What a perfect mix :)

Here is the first of five pages I created with this kit.  I love how the bright colors pop off this kraft colored background sheet.  I used a template and modeling paste to create my arrows, and then sprayed it with Dylusions while it was still wet.  Such a bold color combination, and perfect for these papers.  I layered in several papers and 3x4 Project Life-type pieces.  I'm a sucker for rainbow colors, and this was right up my alley :)

Stickers and chipboard...with rainbows!  Yes!  I cut my title with my Cameo and added some paint to my 365.  I love that you can scrap just about anything with this collection.

A tangle of thread....great way to add some color here and there.

Pop dots and a camera sticker....with a rainbow on it....the simple things excite me...haha!

I love how the blue and red ink dried spotty...I couldn't have done that on purpose if I had tried!  Sometimes accidents are just meant to be!

You can check out all the other available kits right HERE.  They are all different and have something for everybody.  I'll be sharing my other projects throughout the month.  Go get your kits while they're still some left!

Thanks for visiting me today.  Stay warm!

Let the Good Times Roll with MME

***Go HERE for the My Scraps Ring in the New Year
BLOG HOP!***

Hey there, friends!  Just wanted to let you know about the January Challenge at My Mind's Eye today.  I'm up on the blog with the 14 Things in 2014 Challenge.  You can interpret it however you like.  I decided to do a goals page for myself.  I hate calling them "resolutions."  These are just some things I'd like to work on over the next 12 months.

I used the Cut & Paste "Presh" line for this, and I'm so glad I did.  As I was working on it, I decided to incorporate these adorable jars into my page.  I like to think of this list as my "Jar of Goals" and I'm taking the lid off :)

I love the mix of paper, chipboard and stickers in this collection.  I'm definitely going to be digging into it again very soon.

Layers and brads...such a fun mix.  I love using brads for accents, but also a place to hold a cute cord bow.

These 3-dimensional stickers are so easy to use...they're already put together and ready to stick!

Be sure to upload your project HERE on the MME blog for your chance to win a collection of your choice.  Definitely worth playing for :)

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Creative Scrappers #259

***For the My Scraps BLOG HOP, please go HERE***

It's reveal day over at Creative Scrappers!  It's the first one of 2014, and it's an AWESOME sketch!  I had so much fun with this one :)  Check it out!

I love the grid design of this!  I used a lot of the Yes, Please collection for this page.  I just love the gorgeous colors and patterns, and they worked so well with my black and white photo.

I hadn't done any hand stitching in a long time, and this was just the right spot for it.  I love all the pops of bright yellow here and there.  I added a few pop dots to this flower sticker to give it a little dimension.

These vellum stickers are just awesome.  I love that you can alter the color of them if you stick them over color.  Or if you want to keep them to their true color, stick them to white cardstock first and then cut them out.  I like how this blue one darkens against the green.  I cut my word "friends" on my Cameo and then painted it yellow with some Mister Huey's.

I love this green "&"!  All the embellishments are just fun and whimsical in this line.

You should definitely hop on over to the Creative Scrappers blog and see what the other DT members created using this sketch....lots of inspiration and a few new team members to meet!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

We want to help you get your scrappy mojo going in the New Year. This is our first ever Blog Hop for the My Scraps and More Sketch Blog. Here is our special blog hop sketch:

Here is my layout, using a mix of American Crafts products...mostly Polka Dot Party, which you can find in the My Scraps store.

I wanted to play on the pinks in the photo, so I used this gorgeous pink paper for my background.  Next, I went for various patterned papers and embellishments.  I wanted a fun mix of things.  I love the stitched pockets...they're perfect for holding a tag or two :)

I love the little embellishments in this line...cute little arrows and epoxy stickers!  I also added some floss...it's my newest obsession for whatever reason :)

Lots of fun layers and a little bit of modeling paste to jazz up my background...

I also love mixing and matching my alphas in my titles.  My Cameo helps make this so easy!

Now hop along to each of the design team member's blogs to see how they are Ringing in the New year with this fabulous sketch.
