Cheerio Avalanche

Hey there, friends!  Happy Monday to you :)  I'm sharing another page I created with the November Main Kit from My Creative Scrapbook today.  This picture speaks for itself...haha.  When Mommy doesn't get what we want fast enough, we just go get it ourselves.  And eating off the floor is much more fun than using an actual plate!

This page was an experiment for me.  I wanted to mimic the cheerios in the photo, so I used my watercolor pencils and a template and traced a bunch of circles.  I also did the same with the blue arrows.  Watercolor pencils are so fun and easy to use!  They smudge so easily with a little bit of water added.  Very fun to blend!

These fun wooden pieces from American Crafts are in the kit...very fun to color up and use!  There are also lots of chipboard buttons.

Here's a close up of the watercolor pencil work...definitely a neat effect.

I love the MME buttons in the kit...perfect match for the included papers.  I love curling the ends of papers...I just like the look of it.  

Even though this kit is full of Fall papers and embellishments, I was able to create pages that weren't fall related at all.  I like taking on the challenge of making seasonal papers work for a non-seasonal layout :)

Creative Scrappers #255

Happy Sunday, friends!  Time for another fun Creative Scrappers reveal...woo hoo!  I went all pink and girly for today's layout.  I used Here and Now from Echo Park...such amazingly bright colors in this line.  I love this cute picture of my Paige...and it went perfectly with this sketch.

I splattered some pink Color Shine all over, threw in some stamping, washi tape, cord, brads and buttons, and that was it!

I think I'm obsessed with cord...I just love the stuff!  Oh, and buttons, too!

Layers are so fun...I think I made it a requirement on all my pages nowadays :)

Stamps and washi tape....yes, please!

Lost & Found with MME

Happy Thursday!  For the third time in a week, I'm up on the My Mind's Eye blog :)  Today's page focuses on the new Lost & Found Record It collections...Heirloom and Antique.  I couldn't wait to dig into these goodies as soon as I received them.  The embellishments are so fun in these collections...lots of layered stickers, Project Life cards, ephemera, glitter...you name it!  I combined both collections for this layout.  I was instantly inspired by the gorgeous pinks in the Heirloom line, and I wanted to create a page about me and my husband.

I began with the Heirloom "Formal" paper and went for my gesso, modeling paste and stencils.  I love to "dirty" up my backgrounds sometimes.  It's fun to use gesso to give a faded look around the page.  Next, I started to go through all the papers and Project Life cards to build my layers.

Next, I sorted through all the word stickers and ephemera...there are so many fun ways to embellish with this collection!  I chose several pieces that described the way I feel about my husband.  The fun part is that both of these lines mesh so well together.  Everything coordinates!

Another awesome part of these collections is the glitter! Yay!  What scrappy girl doesn't love glitter?!  And it's silver, so it goes with everything!

 

There are also lots of arrows in these lines.  In this layout, I just kept thinking of Cupid's Arrow.  It seemed appropriate for a page about love :)

I had tons of fun going through these collections and combining different elements from each one.  And they're not all completely "lovey dovey."  There is so much to choose from that you really can make pages about any subject.  That's what I love about MME's products!

11 on the 11th - Corrie Jones style

Hey there, friends!  Today I'm sharing a layout I created for Corrie Jones' monthly "ME" challenge.  I started this last month.  I chose to scrap a layout about myself on the 11th of every month.  In October, the 11th was on a Friday, and it was a strange day.  Lots of great things happened, but I was also bummed about several things.  This project has taught me that you don't always have to scrap just the happy things.

I don't know if I like this page or not...I wanted to use happy colors, and I really wanted to use my new Crate Paper Flea Market goodies.  Half my day was good...half was not so great...so I'm thinking I should have made a half & half layout or something.  But this is what I came up with....

I'm in love with this fun GOLD!  Shiny is always good :)

These fabric frames are also very cool.  I used another frame over my photo...those are super neat!

Lots of chipboard layers and some cord mixed in...

My Creative Scrapbook November Reveal!

It's Tuesday the 5th, and that means it's reveal day for the November kits at My Creative Scrapbook!  I always work with the Main Kit, and this one is full of Fall goodies from Echo Park, Prima, American Crafts and My Mind's Eye.  Scrapping typical Fall photos is difficult for me because we live in Florida, and we just don't really have Fall weather.  We don't have the beautiful leaves changing colors, especially :(  So for my five pages this month, I had to get creative.  It goes to show that even though a themed kit can go in a totally different direction if you get creative :)

Here's the Main Kit:

Here is the first page I created.  The photo was taken in September, which is technically kind of in the Fall season...so I embellished with some Fall leaves and colors.  I added in modeling paste and blue paint to bring in some contrast, and I painted one of the Prima flowers.  The only other things not included in the kit are the cord and the stitching floss.  This is definitely a more muted color scheme than I usually go for, but I really like it...plus, she's very serious in the photo, so the colors match her mood.  And even though she doesn't LOOK happy, she is.  She has a leaf and that's one thing this kid loves to do is find the perfect leaf.  I think the camera being in her face made her look not so happy in the moment...but she was :)

I love these wood shapes!  I painted it to match, and it was really easy to do.  The wood just soaks up the color...it was just watered down mist.  And the Prima flowers also soak up color well.

Love the fun chipboard shapes and buttons, too!

These MME brads coordinate wonderfully...I really love these blue and brown ones!

My Mind's Eye / Lost & Found Record It!

Happy Monday, friends!  I'm up on the My Mind's Eye blog today with a layout featuring the new Lost and Found collections.  I wanted to showcase how you can use the Project Life cards on a layout.  I don't do PL, and I probably won't.  It's just too much and too overwhelming for me.  But I still love the cards, and here is just one way I used them on a good ol' fashioned layout :)

Regardless if you do PL or not, these adorable Record It! cards are definitely usable on your layouts.  I love using them for embellishments, journaling, fussy cutting…you name it.  They are very versatile and can be used in a lot of different ways.

I decided to scrap a photo of my husband and me dressed up for a nice date night at a fundraiser event for our daughters’ school.  I really liked the different shades of pink and red in the Heirloom collection, so I centered everything around that.  I dug into my MME stash and pulled some papers from the Find Your Wings and Fly collection to mix in.  I used NINE different Record It Cards on this layout.  See if you can spot them all!

I used one of the cards for a checklist, and I layered another behind it.  I cut the “today” banner piece from one, and I tore the hearts from another one.  To me, they’re just like mini pieces of patterned paper.

I fussy cut more words from more cards, and I used one of the 4x6 behind my photo.  They’re also great for layering.
 

Here’s another angle of the layers.  There are probably pieces included that you don’t think you’ll use…they’re great for building dimension and layers behind your photos or embellishments.

Here you can see closely two of the cards.  I just love shuffling through them all and pulling out the ones that go with my project!  I love the pops of pattern and color they add.

I hope this inspires you to give the Record It cards a chance…especially if you don’t do Project Life, like me.  I had lots of fun making this page, and it was surprisingly easy to put together because of the adorable cards.  You don’t have to do a lot of cutting or trimming.  They’re already the perfect size!

My Scraps Pinspirational Crop!

Happy Saturday, friends!!  The My Scraps and More Design Team is hosting a super fun Pinspirational Crop over on the boards this weekend!  Lots of fun challenges going on inspired by various pins from Pinterest.  You don't have to be registered there to play...we're providing the image and challenge, and you just get to scrap!  Sounds like fun, right?!

Here's one of the pages I created for one of my challenges.  It's inspired by a colorful quote I found.  You can visit our boards to see the full quote and the challenge to go along with it.  I used some American Crafts Sketchbook papers for this page. It's one collection I can't put down these days :)  It's no longer available in the store because it's an older line, but there are a lot of new AC products there! 

I started by cutting out all those arrows on my Cameo on white cardstock.  I went through and chose all my papers and adhered them to the back of the cardstock.  I outlined some of them, and then I added in lots of arrow stamps.  I cut out my title and added in some alpha stamps to complete my smaller titles.

Here you can see the cuts better.  I also added in some fun brads.

I just love arrows!  And rainbow colors!  And stamping....the list goes on...haha!
